Is anyone watching this one? It airs on Saturday and Sunday on Channel 90 (MBC) at about 6 or 6:30pm .....
I really love this drama....in one of the news articles I read....they called it a Jumma-rella story!  |

When a woman turns 39, she’ll think about getting Botox injections to cover up her wrinkles that don’t seem to recede well under cheap wrinkle removing cosmetics. She’ll also probably need to wear a corset to tuck in her flabby stomach and bulging hips but she’ll ignore such thoughts as she lives in a world where she thinks she’s still a nubile teenager. This is another TV drama that is presented to middle-aged women who dream of wonderful romances.
Going back and forth from fantasy and reality, this new-school drama, “Scandalous Affair” will bring back flashbacks of those days when their hearts fluttered when they met their first love. This drama is dedicated to middle-aged women who still dream of being reunited with their first love!
What if Cinderella was portrayed as a 39-year old woman with a kid? That’s the opening scene for this drama that tries to give hope to middle-aged women - who watch teen romances to vicariously relive the good ol’ days - that they can also overcome the constraints of their middle-aged lives and find true love once again.
A woman who has inner beauty is called a middle-aged woman.
They’ve learned the wisdom of life, which eludes the youth, as they are a year away from hitting the big Four-O. They’ve learned that real love is looking after their families first and foremost. | This sounds interesting. How many episodes have I missed already? And 3pikake, when and where is "Who Are you?" There's so many to watch. Personally, I find all the ones on Channel 80 to be very good. It's hard to watch them all on 82, 80, sometimes 134 and now 90!!! |

Who are you is on Wed and Thurs at 7 p.m. hooked on dramas.
You have to start watching well before 7 and sometimes well after 8 to watch the entire episode.

This one, "Last Scandal" and "Who are you?" are both on Channel 90 -MBC.
Regarding both the shows.....if the time is listed to start at say 7:00 pm ---I would start taping from 5:45pm - at least an hour before the show is suppposed to start.....for a while now...the shows have been running "ahead" of schedule......"Yi San" is another good example....it is frustrating indeed...and it wastes my DVR space...sigh....
mailegirl....guess I am the opposite of you right now....I am full on into 'Last Scandal" and on and off into "Who are you?"
hooked on dramas - it's listed on Saturday and Sunday's at about 6:45 pm ....so tape from an hour before that....right now i think that they are on episode 7 - not sure - sorry---- there are 16 episodes total---- i usually dont care to jump on a series mid stream - but I dont think it will make too much of a difference....I can give you a brief description of what has happened so far.....I can also give you a link to where there is a more detailed synopsis for each episode....
Sunny Hong....is an ajummah that will do anything for her daughter and her husband. She is your stereotypical ajummah......she was pretty when she was young ...but thru time has let herself go.....she wears her hair in a curly poodle perm, baggy unatractive clothing and dorky looking glasses.
Her husband gets put into jail because he lost people's money and Sunny is trying to raise money to get him out of jail. She takes odd jobs here and there. One of the jobs she takes is at a TV studio as being part of a TV audience....while on her way to the taping of the show ....she runs into Jebin Song, a very, very popular actor at the TV studio. (She spills coffee all over him after getting a cup out of the vending machine.) She thinks he looks like her first love Jang Dong-chul from high school...but laughs at her "ridiculous" thought.
Now movie star Jebin Song leads an isolated life...it is very hard for him to go out due to his fame and recognizability...so his life is basically centered around his filming sites, the office and his home. He is good looking and adored by many fans....his age is listed as 32...but in actuality he is really 39...He has facials, massages and botox injections in order to keep his good looks...... He is also messy, immature and picky and has gone thru a lot of housekeepers/maids. He lives at home in a big house with his older brother and the older brother's son. At times his nephew seems more mature than he does. At home after the encounter with 'Sunny at the tv station he starts to reminisce..about his first love......Sunny Hong....and asks his assistant to locate her phone number. He gives her a call and they talk fondly about old times.
Sunny does not want to meet with Dongchul...but her friend persuades her to go and meet with him and ask him for money so that she can bail her husband out of jail...so they set up a meeting place.
When they finally meet.....Dongchul is shocked that his pretty Sunny has turned into a run down looking ajummah....and pretends to be Jebin Song, the movie star, who doesnt know a Sunny Hong.... and therefore denies knowing her and runs away.
Sunny is shocked that Jebin Song and Dongchul Jang from school might be the same person....a few days later....she runs into Jebin Song again at the TV station and calls Dongchuls number ....Jebin answers his phone.....which proves to Sunny that Jebin is actually Dongchul.
Sunny, being desperate for money, ends up going to Dongchul's house in the suburbs to ask him for money ...only to end up getting a job as a maid at his house.
In the meanwhile, Sunny's husband Yushik Ahn....has been approached by one of his wealthy lady clients. She offers to "invest" in him if he leaves every thing behind and comes to her. He agrees and she bails him out and takes him to her apartment to live and gives him new clothes and ends up setting him up as the owner of a wine bar that caters to rich and influential people. She said that she grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth and had an arranged marriage....and that she has never been out on a date and had a romance....that is what she wants from Sunny's husband.....
Sunny finds out that her husband has been bailed out and is puzzled why he hasnt come home or called her. His mother and sister come over to tell her that he has left Seoul on a fishing boat and will not be coming back. She beleives them until she finds out that he is still in Seoul and decides to hire a private investigator in order to find him. After many incidents...Dongchul ends up giving her the $2,000.00 she needs to hire a PI to find her husband. The PI locates her husband but he pretends to be hiding out from loan sharks and for her sake and their daughter Jimin's sake...he has not contacted them in order to "protect" them from danger.
Of course this is all a lie...but Sunny beleives him.....Yushik asks her for a "fake" divorce...which Sunny reluctantly agrees too.....Yushik turns around and asks the older lady to marry him.
In the meanwhile ....Sunny has been taking good care of Jebin's nephew...who has grown up without a mother and seems to like Mrs. Hong a lot.....Sunny and her daughter end up being evicted out of their appartment....Jebin's brother offers them the use of the guest house until they find a place to stay.....Jebin's brother said that Mrs. Hong has made the house a happier place to come home to. Jimin, Sunny's daughter has a huge crush on Jebin Song.....Hoon, Jebin's nephew has a huge crush on Jimin...and then there is this actress that returns from the States...setting up a love triangle. But then there seems to be a lot of love triangels that are going to happen. At the end of the 6th episode....Dongchul's older brother saw Dongchul kiss Sunny ......( Dongchul is shocked that he kissed her and Sunny is shocked at what happened and decides to pretend that it didnt)
Somewhere along these episodes...Yushik Ahn realizes that Sunny is living with the brothers (whose good side he would like to get on since they are rich and influential people). The older brother runs a check on Sunny and realizes that Yushik Ahn is Sunny's wayward husband. Dongchul also starts to look for Sunny's husband, finds him and sets up a meeting with him...when Yushik Ahn shows up...Dongchul is disgusted..but both brothers try to keep the fact that Yushik is now with another woman from Sunny ..in order to spare her feelings....
I missed the seventh episode...but hope to see it replayed on Saturday morning.....I just saw the last 15 minutes of it.....when Sunny while cleaning Dongchul's bedroom...comes across the invitation to the engagement party between Yushik Ahn and the older lady. She doesnt believe that it is her husband (tho they have the same name) but just wants to confirm that it isnt.......Jebin sees her rushing thru the hotel lobby and guesses what is happening and runs after her.....he tries to convince her to go home but she wont listen...and proceeds to where the engagement party is being held at ....she is almost there when she hear's her husband's name being called...at that point...Jebin grabs her and hold her tight to his body and tells her not to go......the photographers surround them ...taking pictures and asking questions...Jebin...still holding Sunny sees his brother and "asks" for help....his brother takes off his coat and puts it over Sunny's head and then the brother's whisk her away from the event.
This is pretty much what has happened so far......
......I have two favorite scenes.....the one where Jebin is invited to the Sunny's husband's wine bar opening...so he takes her to buy new clothes and get her hair and makeup done and then takes her to the party. He introduces her as his housekeeper and date to the wine bar owner (who is Yushik Ahn's rich client/girlfriend) At the party..there is an accident and broken glasses litter the floor....Sunny's husband's girlfriend tells her staff to hurry and clean it up and then looks at Sunny and tells her to help clean it up too.....Jebin comes around the corner and sees Sunny helping to clean up the mess and pulls her up and yells at the wine bar owner ...telling her that she is wrong to ask his date to help clean up the mess and that by doing so she is insulting him...and storms off in a huff with Sunny in tow.
My second favorite scene is when they are watching this tape that Dongchul secretly made of Sunny asking him for money ...they are outside and watching the film being projected onto the back of the house....Sunny tells Dongchul..."What would have happened if I never met you again?"....and starts to cry because she is feeling pathetic..tells Dongchul "Thank you for the money"....and gets up to go into the house....Dongchul tells her "Don't Cry"...I think Sunny says something like..."I can't help it"......and then Dongchul grabs her arm and spins her around and kisses her...he then tells her...."next time you feel like crying...let me know..." The next scene shows a split screen with each of them in their own bed thinking about what has happened...Dongchul says to himself..."I must have been crazy!" and Sunny says to herself..." I must be nuts!"...
Jebin....even tho he acts like a jerk to her most of the time.....you can see that he is actually a softie at heart....and is starting to fall for her all over again...guess he never really did get over her to begin with.....
Sunny...because she knew him from before he was famous...is not intimidated by his star status and doesnt fawn all over him.... she still considers herself married and is loyal to her husband. But I think things will be changing shortly...that's what I cant wait to see....she deserves much better than her ex.....
What I've found is that if I tape from 7 in the morning till the last scandal show at 6 - MBC will show the previous episode/s of Last Scandal...even tho it is listed under differnt names ....like Madam Ahuyn...news...and such....and I do this on Saturday and Sunday....so I've been able to watch most of the episodes except for the first one.

Just returned movie star.....was once involved with Jebin Song's older brother....most likely the mother of Hoon...Jebin's nephew....but who is pursuing Jebin...much to Jebin's distaste!
Jebin waiting for Sunny to pick out clothes for a supposed friend.....
Sunny checking out the prices...is shocked at how expensive the clothes are! Upon a rude comment by Jebin....Sunny angrily retorts... " I may be poor but that doesnt mean that I don't have good taste in clothes!"

She had fallen asleep on the chair waiting for Jebin to come back to the beauty salon....

Jebin had seen a date circled on Sunny's calender and mistakenly thinks that it is her birthday...... he tells her to meet him at this club...where he is waiting on the stage and proceeds to sing her a song....
Jebin wishes Sunny "Happy Birthday!" upon which Sunny says that it isn't her birthday...her birthday was last week ...and that today is actually her wedding anniversary..."
Sunny starts to cry after wondering what would have happened to her if she hadn't run into Dongchul/Jebin again.

3Pikake I started getting more into The Last Scandal after last week's episode.
Have you watched what the outcome of this drama will be? Don't expect the expectable in this one.
Can't believe the two lead actors are doing a drama after doing so many movies. They are two of my favorite film actors.

Oh its not a bad thing. I already saw future filming of this drama and went huh?
That made me start watching this drama again. I wanted to find out why....but after last week I kind of figured out why now.

I loved the ending of this story.....
It had my fairytale ending ...and it tied up all the loose ends....and it looks like everyone will...(eventually) be happy.....
It was cute and hilarious at times, romantic and fun....It was a feel good story for ajummahs!!!! |
