first episode:
it's 108 bc, and the kingdom of gojoseon, which lasted 2100 years has fallen, after a year of war with the han nation. the remnants of gojoseon people are left wandering and resisting the ruling of the han nation, in the center of such resistance is hae mo-su (heo jun-ho) a legendary hero of the gojoseon. the king of buyeo, hae bu-ru appears to be in support of hae mo-su since he has led gojoseon people to buyeo, however, when han nation's imperial member is murdered, the king of buyeo realizes those who support the gojoseon remnants will be targeted by the han's imperial army.
at a meeting between the state of buyeo and han nation, the prince of buyeo, geum-wa (jeon kywang-ryeol) watches in disgust when the han army ruthlessly beats up a gojoseon man. however, geum-wa, being the prince cannot do anything. instead ha-baek's daughter, yoohwa (oh yeon-soo) speaks up against the brutality. geum-wa is struck by her courage and allure, but yoohwa is soon taken into custody for speaking up in protest. later, geum-wa uses his power to free her. soon after hae mo-su is wounded in another confrontation and he's fallen into the river. days later he floats ashore near the home of yoohwa. yoohwa finds him and saves him, hiding him in a little hut. the army men are looking around town for hae mo-soo and warns everyone that whoever hides or saves him will all be destroyed. at the same time geum-wa, who is both hae mo-su's best friend and commarade looks for hae mo-su hoping to get him before the others do.
during the time yoohwa looks after hae mo-su they begn to develop a fondness for each other as man and woman. but the army men reach the ha-baek village and they realize hae mo-su was there for sometime and slaughters the entire village, including yoohwa's father. yoohwa is tied up on ropes pulled by horses and being taken to another location to be executed.
episode 2:
after hae mo-su flees from the village, he meets the man of commerce yeon ta-bal and hae mo-su asks him for work. when yeon ta-bal tells hae mo-su about the slaughtering that happened at ha-baek, yeon ta-bal realizes who hae mo-su really is by his reaction. yeon ta-bal schemes to keep hae mo-soo around so he can sell him to the army for a grand prize. during this time yeon ta-bal's wife gives birth to a daughter and he names her so-seo no, vowing to raise her greater than a man. when yeon ta-bal's tents are attacked by thugs hae mo-su saves them with his fighting skills. yeon ta-bal becomes grateful and tells hae mo-su he knows who he is and he was planning on selling him but now since he's grateful he wants hae mo-su to just go before more trouble dawns on them. meanwhile geum-wa tracks down the army with yoohwa and rescues her, afterwards he keeps her in his palace and realizes he's falling in love with her. he confides in the buyeo fortune woman that he's in love for the first time even though he already has a wife and child. the fortune woman advices him not to keep her around. hae mo-su and geum-wa reunite and geum-wa shows him that yoohwa is still alive. hae mo-su and yoohwa reaffirm their affection for each other and hae mo-su gives her a ring as a symbol of his affection, saying that even though he may die soon in a battle he wishes to be with her until then. yoohwa accepts his love and asks him to avenge for her father. the king of buyeo is advised by his head general to get rid of hae mo-su and they set up a scheme to kill hae mo-su.
episode 3:
geum-wa finds out it was his father king haeburu who ordered haemosu's entrapment and capture.
hae mosu is tortured and blinded by the army men and taken to be executed. geum-wa goes under cover and tries to help hae mo-su escape, but the blinded hae mo-su is surrounded by army men at the end of a cliff. hae mosu is shot by arrows and falls backward off the steep cliff, and presumed dead. geum-wa watches from the distance...
later yoohwa gives birth to her and hae mo-su's baby and names the boy 'jumong'. yoohwa tells geum-wa she plans to raise jumong in the isolate forest but geum-wa offers to raise him as his own saying it would be hard to raise him well away from the city. meanwhile geum-wa tells the fortune woman about jumong and she then tells the head general. they agree jumong must be eliminated and hires an assasin. yoohwa escapes from the assasin at first but is then chased by army men instead... the assasin pretends to save her but raises his sword toward her telling her it was the king of buyeo who killed hae mo-su. yoohwa asks if prince geum-wa knows and the assasin says no. just as the assasin is about to slash her and the child, lightening strikes on his sword and the assasin is shocked to death. yoohwa escapes but returns to geum-wa's palace and agrees to be his concubine so that jumong can be raised as buyeo's prince.
20 years pass and geum-wa is the king of buyeo with 3 sons, prince dae-so (kim seung-soo) and prince yeong-po (won gi-jun) born from the queen (gyeon mi-ri), and the youngest prince jumong (song il-guk) from lady yoohwa (oh yeon-soo).
episode 4:
the king of buyeo geumwa is angry at jumong's reckless behavior and sends him on the journey to find the damul arrow and be inspired by it, since the bow and arrow was said to be given to the founding father of buyeo from the gods. jumong, along with the half brothers dae-so and yeong-po embark on their journey, and they must find the arrow first, and not tell anyone that they are buyeo's prince through their journey. dae-so and yeong-po use the opportunity away from palace to get rid of jumong so that dae-so's future crown is not threatened, and their mother the queen herself may finally receive love from the king. dae-so sends jumong ahead of them to guide them and the two half brothers abandoned jumong afterawhile, and jumong gets entangled in quick mud and the brothers watch as he is drown to death. meanwhile so-seo-no (han hye-jin) is being sent on a business journey by her father and her men are walking passby, and she spots jumong in the drowning mud and rescues him. jumong awakes finally and tells soseono that he is secretly the prince of buyeo, and promises to pay her back for the debt he now owes her.
after ditching their brother jumong, daeso and yeongpo find the cave where the sword damul is placed. neither succeeds in shooting the arrow and decides to go back to buyeo.
jumong overhears daeso and yeongpo discuss their plans about how they should tell the king jumong died. jumong realizes his brothers abandoned him to die on purpose and is deeply saddened.
jumong finds the damul arrow and successfuly shoots an arrow, but in the process breaks the bow into two. a stunned jumong turns around and heads back to buyeo as well. after daeso and yeongpo arrive at the palace they tell the king how jumong died accidently. yoohwa begs the king to go find jumong, but jumong shows up to daeso and yeongpo's shock.

they decide to go see haemosu in the hidden prison. jumong sees them come and go and wonders who the blinded prisoner really is. when he met with haemosu earlier he had asked him who he is and why he was locked up and for how long, but haemosu answered he didn't know for how long or why, and now he doesn't even know who he is anymore. yeongpo finds out jumong's been making sword secretly and since that's a crime by the king's order, he decides to trap jumong by leading jumong into setting the whole factory on fire. when this happenes, daeso scolds yeongpo for endangering the future of buyeo, and surely the ambassador from han nation is angry at geumwa and says he violated their terms by making swords behind han nation. geumwa's advisors warn him that a severe punishment must be handed down to jumong and the king summons jumong to tell him he has been stripped the title of a prince and he must now leave the palace. jumong begs and goes to see his mother to bid farewell but lady yoohwa will not see him, and tells her maid to go see the teacher and order him not to meet with jumong when he goes there.

yeon-ta-bal (soseono's father) decides to take over the salt transactions in the city, and agrees to soseono when she offered to raid the blackmarket merchant who is currently in control of the salt business. next, yeon-ta-bal gets invited to the buyeo palace by buyeo's fairy/witch lady yeo-mi-eul and soseono goes with him, but soseono sneaks around the palace while her father goes to talk to the king, and soseono wanders into the place where prince taeso is practicing his swordsory. taeso thinks she is a new palace maid and asks which chamber she is assigned to. when soseono fights him off taeso realizes she knows martial arts and tells her to exchange fists with her. the two start fighting, with taeso has the upper hand, but yeo-mi-eul's maids come to scold soseono for wandering without permission and tells her to apologize to the prince.
soseono apologizes and follows the maids and leaves, with taeso watching her leave.
one of the street thugs mari meets with his mentor (the prison ward) and they're approached by men with picture of jumong asking if anyone's seen him. jumong tells buyoung he was thrown out of the palace and he's no longer a prince, next mari asks jumong who he is and why there are men looking for him in town and he should leave so he doesn't bring trouble to them, then jumong asks buyoung to help him find a way to stay there with them. the prison ward tells his sister who is yoohwa's maid about jumong being chased and injured. meanwhile the queen of buyeo is thinking about getting taeso a wife but taeso says he already has someone in his heart and when it's time he will tell her about it.
buyoung introduces jumong to do-chi (buyeo's blackmarket merchant) and dochi instructs one of his men to give jumong some work to see if he's worth anything. soseono takes a few men with her and raids dochi with his men while they're unloading salt from their merchant boat. soseono spots jumong fighting among the dochi camp and is surprised. wootae almost kills dochi but jumong stops him and saves dochi, who later tells jumong he will not forget that he saved him today. dochi sends his righthand man out to find out who attacked them by the shore. the man returns and tells dochi it was yeon-ta-bal who raided them. dochi offers large sum of money to the 'oh-ma-hyeop' street thug trio to capture yeon-ta-bal's daughter soseono. the 'oh-ma-hyeop trio' successfully kidnaps soseono during the night and brings her to the house of dochi. dochi tells the captured soseono her father will soon be here. but yeon-ta-bal sends sa-yong to meet with dochi. dochi tells him to tell yeon-ta-bal to come in person to kneel and beg for forgiveness, if not soseono's life will be gone.
jumong overhears the name of soseono mentioned and goes to the shed where she's locked up to free her and tells her to hurry and escape.
episode 8:
yeontabal's advisor sayong returns and tells yeontabal he should kneel before dochi as he asked or else soseono will die. gyepil (stuttering square hat guy) and wootae (soseono's righthand man) are reluctant to see yeontabal agree but yeontabal says he will do as sayong said.
meanwhile jumong frees soseono and urges her to hurry and run but she is doubtful of his true intention, and eventually succombs to his urging and escapes. mari, hyeopbo and ohyi discover what jumong is doing but soseono successfully escapes. then jumong gets beat up by the 3 and mari is about to kill jumong when buyoung shouts out jumong is a prince of buyeo.
the ohmahyeop trio and jumong decide to run from dochi, and asks buyoung to go with them but she declines saying if she does her younger siblings who are slaves will be malaffected.
yeontabal arrives to meet dochi who at first tells yeontabal to kneel and beg for forgiveness, but when one of his servants comes to whisper the news of soseono being gone in dochi's ears dochi changes his demand and tells yeontabal to leave all his assets to him and leave buyeo. yeontabal says he cannot make that transaction. dochi asks him if he is willing to kill his daughter and yeontabal replies if it's soseono's fate then it will be so. yeontabal and his men leave, and dochi remains to beat up his righthand man, then buyoung is dragged there and slapped by dochi who demands her to tell him where they went. buyoung insists she doesn't know and dochi continues to beat her.
yeontabal arrives infront of his home and wonders if he needs to part with buyeo, but sayong predicts soseono was able to escape. just then soseono opens the door and calls out to her father. wootae tells sayong now he understands why ppl say sayong is not like a human more like a ghost. sayong replies soseono who was able to escape is more like a ghost. soseono tells them about jumong saving her and wootae then says he will go destroy dochi right away. sayong says not to rush into it and yeontabal agrees, then tells soseono he will reward jumong and tells her to bring him to him next time she meets him.
mari and ohyi bring jumong to the hidden prison. jumong asks if they intend for mu-song the prison wardlord to take care of him. jumong tells mari and ohyi to not treat him like a prince since he is no longer one and they ask if he will have them as older brother instead then. jumong agrees. mu-song appears and relunctantly agrees to keep jumong there in the prison for the time being. musong takes jumong to haemosu's cell and tells haemosu he now has someone to talk to. haemosu instantly knows jumong was there before and had asked him who he was before jumong even said a word.
meanwhile in the palace king geumwa summons prince daeso and yeongpo to the palace sword factory. king geumwa tells the head of the factory mokpalmu he must find the secret recipe to making best sword.
king geumwa orders his 2 prince to assist mokpalmu with finding recipe to make best sword from this day forward. then the king officially hands prince daeso the responsiblity of foreign security minister and says yeontabal who was recently hired by the king to assist with news of other states and nations will assit daeso.meanwhile the king awards prince yeongpo the duty of security minister within the buyeo nation.
haemosu asks jumong why he wants to learn martial arts and jumong answers for self protection. haemosu comments it's extreme to learn self-defense all the way here. then haemosu asks jumong why he's here and jumong hesitates but then jumong answers he made a grand mistake and was disowned by his father, and almost killed by his brothers. jumong asks why haemosu is locked up here and he answers like he said last time he doesn't know why. jumong then asks what he did before coming to the prison. haemosu asks if he's heard of dalmu warriors. jumong replies no and haemosu says the dalmu warriors protected the glory of gojoseon and fought against the han nation. haemosu states he was a dalmu warrior.
soseono reads the reports of other nations and states that were sent to her father and reads about the report of a gudak woman who died after going into labor for her 13th child and how the king of gudak was sad over it. soseono dimisses it as a trivial news but sayong explains it means gudak nation is trying to build up an army if the king himself should grief over the loss of a woman who has the power of giving births.
prince daeso visits yeontalbal who greets the prince then introduces soseono as his daughter. daeso comments he has a great daughter and soseono apologizes for her behavior for she did not know he was a prince before. soseono tells daeso about the news of gudak nation, and asks daeso what he would do. daeso asks if soseono if she is testing him and yeontalbal asks for pardon over his daughter but daeso says it's okay and says he will use gudak's neighboring state gaemak nation to spy on the gudak nation and when gudak nation attacks gaemak he will send troops to help gaemak nation to gain its favor of ally and help rid of gudak a foe. yeontalbal comments the prince is indeed bright and soseono is speechless. as daeso leaves he tells soseono he had a great time. yeontalbal teases soseono that prince daeso has a thing for her and if things go well he might be inlaws with the buyeo king.
wootae arrives to tell soseono that jumong escaped after what happened and dochi is out looking for him. wootae reports he will keep her updated, and offers to find jumong himself if she is concerned about him, but soseono declines saying the rest is up to jumong's destiny. musong fetches wine and meat for jumong who then shares it with haemosu. haemosu drinks 2 cups of the wine but takes no food and jumong asks him to tell him about dalmu warriors.
haemosu says the strongest weapon in the world is the will to fight with death in mind, which the dalmu warriors fought with. haemosu tells jumong actually he knows why he's been in the prison, that he is enduring a self-imposed prison sentence over the guilt of not being able to protect his nation, and for not able to keep up the promise he made to one woman.
musong tells his sister about jumong being in the prison and the maid tells yoohwa lady, who insists on going to see jumong during the night. they trek to the prison and are followed by daeso/yeongpo's servant.
haemosu offers to teach jumong martial arts in exchange for his companionship and jumong wonders how he will be able to teach him anything with his eyes blind but haemosu says being blind has opened up his heart instead...
yoohwa lady arrives and sees jumong. haemosu hears yoohwa's voice as she talks to jumong outside the cell and a disturbed and mournful haemosu presese himself against the cell cage.... a sorrowful yoohwa leaves after telling jumong as a mother she cannot do anything for him anymore.

the buyer offers to pay only half of what soseono said, and soseono agrees, but her father yeon-ta-bal appears and orders the buyers to be taken to have their hands chopped off, since they are conman who applied oil to their hands before brushing it on the fur. then yeon-ta-bal tells soseono she still has a long ways to go before she can be a good merchant. yeontabal's advisor sayong laughs at her. just then soseono's right-hand-man wootae arrives with news of jumong's whereabouts.
the king returns to the palace after his fruitless trip, and angrily tells bu-deuk-bul he must find out who destroyed the prison or else he will cast all the blame on him. bu-deuk-bul goes to see yeo-mi-eul and shares his worry about haemosu being alive and out there somewhere. prince daeso's condition is critical and the doctor says he can't do anythng. the worried queen weeps and her brother the diplomat urges her to tell the king at once. the queen is still hesitant and prince youngpo says he will tell the king. youngpo tells the king daeso was attacked by forest creatures during the night and king geumwa calls for yeomieul right away. yeomieul helps daeso regain his conscious, but wonders what really happened.

geumwa watches lady yoohwa sigh and goes to tell her his only fear in life is when she sighs. the queen finds out about the king visiting yoohwa for the first time since jumong was thrown out of the palace and the queen is angered with jealousy.
soseono and wootae go see where jumong is and offers to help him since he is being chased by the thuglord dochi because of her, but jumong declines saying at his current condition he can't move to her home, but thanks her for the gesture. soseono says nothing and appears taken back, but just then buyoung arrives and soseono watches as jumong asks buyoung if she was followed and then telling her to go inside the hut. buyoung exchanges looks with soseono before going in.
haemosu is healing and sits by jumong at the field where jumong is thinking about what's happening. haemosu comments the wild flowers of the field are fragrant and reminds him of the scent of the woman whom he was unable to protect. jumong replies he has such a woman too and she is his mother whom he will not be able to protect, and such a useless fool he is. haemosu asks jumong who his brothers are and jumong tells him they are the buyeo's princes, and he himself is the third prince of buyeo, son of king geumwa. haemosu is shaken and asks jumong if he said he was geumwa's son and jumong replies yes _________________

meanwhile prince youngpo's men and dochi are both out looking for jumong who escapes after being chased.
buyeo's weapon factory master mopalmo is drinking alone in town when yeontabal's butler gyepil joins him with precious shao-sing wine from han nation. mopalmo is drunk and walking on the streets when jumong catches up to him apologizing for what happened with the fire and asking for a favor of giving him a few swords.
prince youngpo tells prince daeso everything and prince daeso goes and asks yeomieul and budeukbul if they know who the blind man with expert fighting skills is, saying that man seemed very close to jumong, but yeomieul lies and says she doesn't know who that is. musong (ex hidden prison lord) gambles with dochi and gets beat up when tries to leave after winning, but ohyi, hyeopbo and mari show up to save musong, then brings him to jumong. next jumong gets a couple of swords from mopalmo in exchange for the promise of more wine once jumong gets back in the palace. jumong takes the swords to haemosu and asks him to teach him swordsory. haemosu replies no matter how skillful one becomes in swordsory, he cannot protect himself from his destiny and this is a time when jumong's destiny must be sorted out first. haemosu then gives jumong a bamboo scroll and says to give it to his father.
soseono can't stop thinking about jumong and asks sayong to find out if jumong is a prince. sayong asks her if she's interested in jumong and soseono defensively states of course not. yeontabal urges soseono to go see prince daeso at the palace since he's ill. soseono is reluctant but her father reminds her to see the big picture and the benefits of being close to the buyeo imperial family. soseono follows her father's wishes and brings medicines to prince daeso wishing him well. daeso is elated at her visit saying he'll heal better now that she's here. just then the queen arrives and meets soseono. after soseono leaves the queen asks if she's the one he likes and daeso smiles. as soseono leaves sayong comments he is surprised at how sweet she can act. wootae catches up to them and reveals jumong is in fact the third prince of king geumwa and currently driven out of the palace. soseono remembers how jumong introduced himself to her the first time they met and soseono comments things are getting rather fun. sayong explains to soseono that jumong and yoohwa were the king's favored. soseono comments in that case there are 2 tigers to catch,1 inside the palace (daeso) and another outside (jumong).
jumong meets with yoohwa's maid and tells her to give the bamboo scroll to the king without letting yoohwa know. geumwa visits yeomieul to get update on haemosu and yeomieul says she wasn't able to break the force of haemosu whose power overshadows hers. next day during meeting with his advisors and generals, the king reads the reports sent that are supposedly sent by yeontabal but realizes one of them is sent by haemosu asking for a meeting outside the palace. the wicked advisor budeukbul senses something's up and sends a spy to retrieve the scroll from the king's room and finds out what's happening. the king leaves the palace alone without knowing what budeukbul is up to.
haemosu tells jumong there's a place they need to go together. meanwhile budeukbul gets an army together but thinks about yeomieul's warning about haemosu, such that he is being kept alive because of it is the wish of the gods and to kill him would be to reject the wish of gods and that would bring bad future to buyeo. haemosu reveals to jumong that they're going to meet geumwa, who was his fellow damul warrior, and to see why he was being kept in the prison for twenty years. jumong says his father is not one who would betray his commarade. they pass through the fields when the two are attacked by masked men in black. upon fighting off the men haemosu wonders if geumwa was in fact the one who betrayed him all these years. geumwa arrives at the meeting place and waits for haemosu without knowing that haemosu was interrupted and stopped by budeukbul's men... next morning jumong thinks about what haemosu revealed to him and wonders what's the truth. jumong asks haemosu if he believes those men who attacked then were sent by geumwa. haemosu says nothing and jumong says it can't be his father, and explains how yeomieul and budeukbul also went to the prison and it must be his brothers who sent those men to kill him.
haemosu finally speaks and says it doesn't matter who tried to kill them, but the sadness in all is that jumong and his destiny are alike.
during sunset haemosu urges jumong to remember the sun and when the moon shows to remember the moon for these will give him strength. next day king geumwa shows budeukbul the scroll and demands that he tell him who is the one stopping him from meeting haemosu. budeukbul acts innocent and the king once again demands him to find haemosu. meanwhile gyepil brings mopalmo to the house of yeontabal who wines and dines with him then elicites mopalmo's help to create a private weapon factory. at this mopalmo is angered and leaves saying he will never use his skills behind the king.
dochi meets with prince youngpo and the queen's brother about capturing jumong. buyoung (ex fairy maid) brings them tea and prince youngpo sees that she is familiar. dochi tells prince younpo that jumong was once worked for him because buyoung brought him here.
haemosu teaches jumong how to fight and tells him not to see the sword with eyes like others but to feel it with his whole body so that at the moment you pick up the weapon it is no longer a cold sword but a warm entity like your own blood, for this way you could feel the sword pointing at you from behind for which your eyes cannot see. jumong heeds to the teaching and successfully draws the sword at haemosu who is close enough to jumong to feel the features of jumong's face.
episode 11:
jumong follows haemosu's teaching of slashing the sun and the moon as they appear and jumong improves drastically through diligent practice. on this day haemosu presents a bow and set of arrows to jumong saying he may not yet have the strength to shoot an arrow but he will after much practice. but jumong immediately shoots his first arrow with the bow and haemosu turns asking if he infact shot one. jumong answers he felt the bow and arrow as his own arm just like haemosu taught him to do and shows haemosu he can do another. haemosu smiles at jumong's strength.
prince youngpo finds maid buyoung and asks if he knows where jumong is. buyoung answers no and runs to warn jumong after youngpo leaves. meanwhile soseono continues to spy on jumong as he practices his skills and witnesses how drastic his improvements are. then soseono watches as buyoung runs there to tell jumong about youngpo meeting the thuglord dochi. jumong thanks buyoung for all that she's done for him and promises to pay back some day. soseono watches from distance as jumong pulls buyoung to him embracing her in his bossom.
next mari, ohyi, and hyeopbo urges jumong to accept soseono's help since they can't be hiding like this forever. jumong brings the trio to yeontabal's house and asks soseono to keep the trio there. soseono replies her offer to help was extended to prince jumong who saved her life not to the trio who kidnaped her before. sosoeno then apologizes for not believing he is a prince before. just then prince daeso arrives and everyone's nervous. soseono tells daeso jumong once saved her life. jumong tries to leave but daeso says to stay and listen to what he wants to say. then jumong asks soseono to leave so he can talk to daeso in private. jumong begs daeso to let him live and daeso says he should know why he needs to be killed if only he would imagine the pain and suffering jumong and his mother have caused daeso, youngpo and their mother who have been neglected by the king because of the two. jumong replies he too suffered pain in the hands of the queen and the brothers and an angry daeso says if jumong is to bother him once more he will not be forgiven. meanwhile yeontabal tells soseono her fate with the buyeo palace is most certain since she is entangled with 2 princes and it wouldnt' be so bad to be with the 3rd prince either. soseono replies she will not let heaven determine her fate and besides jumong is already seeing someone.
the king tells his chief warrior to go find haemosu. budeukbul overhears it and goes to see yeomieul confessing to her that he attempted to kill haemosu but failed once. yeomieul is flustered but budeukbul insists the king and haemosu must never meet. budeukbul orders one of his inferiors to keep an eye on yeomieul to see what she's up to next. yeomieul solicites the help of a star child who uses her innocent powers to find where haemosu is. yeomieul then goes to see haemosu alone but budeukbul's man follows her and figures out where haemosu is as well. yeomieul confesses to haemosu she is the one who kept him in prison for 20 years but she did it to protect buyeo because haemosu is a hero of the past nation and his presense would've surely risked buyeo being ruined by the han nation. haemosu asks if geumwa agrees with all this and yeomieul says surely the king does not know about these things or else he would not have agreed to keeping haemosu in prison for 2 decades. yeomieul asks haemosu to leave buyeo to ensure buyeo's safety and haemosu says he will meet with geumwa and ask him in person if that is what he wants.
yeomieul warns if he meets geumwa the sorrow of a woman will be relived, then yeomieul reveals lady yoohwa became geumwa's 2nd wife. haemosu relives the words of jumong who said he was geumwa's 3rd son born of a different mother and haemosu appears shaken suspecting if jumong is his son.
budeukbul learns yeomieul went to see haemosu and budeukbul wastes no time and goes to meet with prince daeso. budeukbul asks daeso if he's heard of the name 'haemosu' and daeso replies he's heard he was a damul warrior who died fighting the han nation. budeukbul tells daeso haemosu was also king geumwa's best friend and haemosu's lover was noneother than madame yoohwa. budeukbul then tells daeso how geumwa tried to save haemosu but was killed by han nation. prince daeso says he now understands why his father dislikes the han nation so much. budeukbul then tells daeso actually haemosu is still alive.
meanwhile king geumwa watches as a despaired yoohwa looks out beyond her balcony holding the ring from haemosu which she wears as pendant on her necklace..
haemosu thinks about the shocking revelations yeomieul confessed to him....... meanwhile yeomieul thinks about haemosu's promise to leave buyeo as she asked, but says he's got a request which is to meet lady yoohwa. just then haemosu comes to see yeomieul and loathes about himself saying he doesn't know if he really wants to find haemosu or not. yeomieul advises the king to put his fate with yoohwa in the hands of the gods. the king agrees fate is not one to be determined by men.
daeso thinks about budeukbul's words about worry should the king ever meet with haemosu, and budeukbul's advise that daeso should get rid of haemosu. daeso goes to see the queen late at night and asks if she knows who haemosu is. the queen replies yes and is surprised to hera him mention him. daeso then asks if she knew yoohwa was haemosu's lover. daeso then asks how it is that yoohwa became the 2nd wife, and the queen says it was because he and haemosu were brothers deeper than blood relation. then the queen tells daeso it is possible that jumong is haemosu's son and not the king's, but the truth is only known by the king and yoohwa. a surprised daeso is told by the queen not to tell this to anyone.
yoohwa's maid finally meets musong who tells her news of jumong. the maid urges yoohwa to ask the king to allow jumong back or else it's hard to say when he will be attacked again, but yoohwa says she intends to keep him alive outside the palace until the day comes that he will return valiantly. prince youngpo goes to the weapon factory and takes cases of swords. mopalmo tries to stop the prince and his uncle but the prince draws his sword at mopalmo and warns him not to say anything to anyone.
sayong reports to yeontabal that prince youngpo and the queen's brother gave weapons from the palace to dochi the thuglord. yeontabal says they should just stay put and watch for the time being. meanwhile daeso orders youngpo to prepare 200 army men secretly. yeomieul goes to see madam yoohwa and tells her they need to go outside the palace together. yoohwa asks where they're headed but yeomieul says she'll find out when she gets there. yeomieul brings yoohwa to a place and stops, then tells yoohwa soon she will meet the one who's been in yoohwa's heart for a long time, but their meeting must be a secret that only her and yeomieul are to know. yeomieul then says she'll go and wait down the mountain and leaves.
yoohwa waits and sees haemosu walk down from the hilltop...

after leaving the palace jumong visits yeontabal and asks to be a worker there.
yeontabal replies it would be hard for other workers if a prince was working among them.
jumong says he is not a prince, and explains how he wishes to learn about the world by working at yeontabal's. yeontabal then replies he will think about it. jumong goes outside and the trio beg jumong to return to the palace.jumong comments there's nothing for him to do inside the palace therefore his place is outside the palace. the trio are disappointed but jumong then tells the trio he will repay his debt to them when he becomes the son that his mother can be proud of.
yeontabal tells his inferiors they're faced with an opportunity to ride a tiger but it's a dangerous opportunity.
then he asks soseono what she thinks and she urges him to accept jumong since they can keep an eye on him if he is close to them and thus they can better determine whether or not he is the tiger they can ride on.
yeontabal is satisfied with her answer and sayong grins at soseono... next yeontabal goes out to the courtyard and tells jumong he can stay there as a worker but there is one condition which is that upon coming into their business jumong will no longer be treated like a prince. jumong agrees to be an inferior to soseono, gyepil, wootae, sayong, and anyone else who's been at the business even a day earlier than jumong. jumong smiles at soseono who studies him but says nothing.
the king learns about jumong getting into yeontabal's as a worker and he shares the news to madam yoohwa who worries about jumong, but the king assures her jumong must have his plan and yeontabal is a bright merchant. yoohwa then comments the elders of sachuldo and the fairy yeomieul would not agree to naming jumong a crown prince. the king replies he simply gave jumong an opportunity to be crowned but he cannot take jumong's side over the other princes.
meanwhile daeso visits ambassador yang-jeong of han nation who will not agree to resolve anything unless king geumwa himself came. budeukbul advises daeso to return to buyeo at once instead of dealing with the ridicules of yang-jeong, but daeso is determined to resolve the matter he came for or else he won't return to buyeo for the biggest ridicule is to have to compete with jumong for the title of crown prince and daeso vows to win over jumong. dochi tells prince youngpo about jumong being a worker at yeontabals and the prince then tells the queen about it, and the queen is alarmed saying jumong has changed lately and he must be up to something thus warns youngpo to keep an eye on the matter in daeso's absence.
fairy yeomieul is resentful that the king did not consult her first before setting the competition among the princes, and she tells the king it cannot be so. but the king replies he will no longer consult her on any matter as he did before, since she kept haemosu in a prison behind him and this betrayal led to haemosu's death. yeomieul argues she did so to protect buyeo's security but the king orders her to leave at once. yeomieul returns to her corridor shaken, and tells her maid to call a meeting among all the fairies of buyeo sachuldo at once.
buyeo's weapon maker mopalmo passes by the house of yeontabal and witnesses how jumong gets scolded by gyepil, and mopalmo stops gyepil saying how dare he treats the prince so, but jumong stops mopalmo and drags him aside to assure him he is there at his own will and mopalmo is not to worry.
mopalmo says he has yet to tell the king about how youngpo was behind the stolen swords from buyeo palace which inventually ended up in the hands of han and caused the big crisis at hand, but jumong replies it's not time yet and urges mopalmo to keep that a secret.
meanwhile dochi sends buyoung on a mission to deliver a written message to yeontabal, and when buyoung arrives soseono immediately remembers her and asks why she's there. buyoung hands her the scroll from dochi and asks soseono to give it to yeontabal. after buyoung leaves sayong asks soseono who that was and soseono replies she is the woman jumong likes. sayong comments the way soseono looked at buyoung earlier was out of a jealoused look and an annoyed soseono brushes if off as nonesense. buyoung finds ohyi and asks him where jumong is. a disappointed ohyi shows her where jumong is laboring away and buyoung is heartwrenched seeing the prince in toil. later ohyi helps jumong with a heavy load.
yeontabal reads the message from dochi asking him to return the salt he stoled last time or else a war will be broken among them. soseono says they can't just give it back and if so it would hurt their pride, but yeontabal says their pride was already reduced when soseono failed her mission last time getting herself kidnapped. soseono apologizes and yeontabal tells sayong to return the salt to dochi. sayong then asks yeontabal why he thinks dochi wants the salt all of a sudden and suggests dochi must be trying to help prince youngpo resolve the salt crisis in buyeo to score in the competition among the princes. yeontabal agrees with sayong's assessment and soseono says perhaps they should release the salt instead and score well in the eyes of the buyeo palace, but yeontabal says releasing the salt will not resolve the salt crisis in buyeo in the long term, and it will only create a shortterm remedy that may lead to more troubles ahead.
sayong asks yeontabal if he is hoping for a war between buyeo and han nation, and yeontabal replies a war creates opportunity to make great money.
at nighttime jumong practices swordsory and soseono watches. when jumong notices her and calls her 'miss' soseono approaches him and asks him how he's handling the work here. jumong answers fine and soseono then asks if he's escaping the palace during a difficult time so that he can return in a better time. soseono then reveals that prince daeso is at hyeonto city meeting the han ambassador while prince youngpo has solicited help from dochi to solve the salt matter in buyeo, and both princes are working to resolve the buyeo crisis, but jumong is doing nothing. soseono asks jumong to reveal his true intention saying if he wants she can help him, but jumong replies there's nothing he can do even if he gets involved, and it's more foolish to be involved when you can't do anything. when alone, soseono wonders if jumong is really without ambition as he seems, and if not how it is he appears so calm.
meanwhile at hyeontoseon, han ambassador yangjeong refuses to see daeso a second time and budeukbul continues to persuade daeso to return to buyeo at once, but jumong again refuses. suddenly daeso gets an idea and leaves.
back at buyeo palace the queen and madam yoohwa meet. the queen asks of jumong and yoohwa says she knows the queen is concerned about jumong, but the queen replies she is only worried about daeso who is away at hyeontoseon. jumong finds musong in town waging another round of bet and musong asks jumong to bet on one hand for him since jumong brought him luck previously but jumong loses the bet and tells he was only lucky that day, then tells musong he wants to talk to him. jumong asks musong what he plans to do for livelihood in the future and musong complains how he was counting on jumong but that's not panning out anymore. jumong asks musong if he will join hands with him, saying when he returns to the palace he will return as a crown prince. musong asks how he can help and jumong says he will creat a post for him in the palace. mari, hyeopbo and ohyi who are also present kneel before jumong and apologize for not knowing jumong's true intention earlier and vow again to lay their lives before him.
daeso returns to buyeo and tells his assistant naru that he's about to give him a very difficult task and naru assures daeso he will do whatever the prince orders. naru brings one of king geumwa's guards before prince daeso and with a sword under his neck, daeso asks the guard to reveal where haemosu's tomb is.
the guard says he cannot tell that information to anyone but daeso threatens to kill him and promises to reward the guard greatly when daeso gains power in the future. the guard finally reveals haemosu is burried at the top of cheon-mu mountain. daeso orders naru to go to cheon-mu mountain and carry out his order while he tends to another matter.
daeso arrives at yeontabal's and meets with soseono deep into the night. daeso tells gyepil no one is to know about his visit to soseono tonight and daeso surprises soseono with his visit. soseono asks how the matter at hyeontoseon is going and daeso replies it is not yet resolved and while he had to return to buyeo for something he came all the way here to see soseono. soseono replies she is honored that he can remember her amidst such a great mission, and daeso replies for these years growing up he never met another woman who could move his heart like her and wishes she felt the same about him. soseono smiles and replies she's never met a man as impressive as he either. daeso is satisified with the answer but their visit is interrupted by jumong who came to see her. daeso asks soseono what jumong is doing here and soseono tells daeso jumong asked to join them as a laborer and he does what he's told to at their business. daeso tells her to let him in the room and jumong enters. daeso scolds jumong for being such a loser then orders him to go out. jumong leaves but appears angered and determined by daeso's ridicule.
daeso brings a gift to the han ambassador who agrees to meet to accept the present. naru opens the present before yeongjeong and the present turns out to be a box with a human head. yangjeong asks what daeso is doing and daeso urges the ambassador to take a closer look, saying the head is haemosu's.
yangjeong is shocked that haemosu had been alive for 20 years, and daeso replies he too was shocked and knowing his father he would've surely waged war with han nation for haemosu's sake. daeso goes on telling yangjeong that he killed haemosu because he does not want to see buyeo in war with han, and with haemosu's head given to yangjeong as a present, yangjeong can now claim that he killed haemosu which will be considered a great deed in the eyes of han imperial. yangjeong is satisifed and tells daeso he will help him to be crowned heir to buyeo throne.
daeso and budeukbul leave and daeso tells budeukbul he knows how low a measure he took and he's aware that he might be cursed in the future for what he has done.
meanwhile dochi gives salt to prince youngpo who reports to the king that he was able to get salt after dealing with buyeo's blackmarket merchant. the king compliments him on a job well done.
but youngpo's glory is short-lived as prince daeso returns with news that he was able to persuade yangjeong to continue han's salt trade with buyeo. the king asks how and daeso lies saying he simply cleared the misunderstanding, and says nothing about haemosu's head. the king compliments daeso on solving a great crisis. soseono breaks the news to jumong who simply says it's good that daeso resolved the crisis. soseono thinks jumong is a foolish loser and if it were her she would've been sleepless that a brother who ridiculed her so greatly scored well with the king.
yeomieul meets with all the fairy women of buyeo and yeomieul urges all the fairies to help her stop the king from bringing buyeo down the wrong path, but yeomieul is shocked to hear one of the sachuldo fairies reveal that the sacred damul bow of buyeo had been broken when she visited shijo mountain and she fears a bad omen is in the future of buyeo.
episode 15:
yeontabal, along with soseono and wootae watch as jumong practices bow and arrow and comments he's never seen someone so great at the weapon.yeontabal comments how jumong's name must also mean 'good with bow and arrow' and jumong nods. then yeontabal remembers haemosu who used to work for him and jumong says haemosu was his master who passed away not long ago.
gyepil arrives telling soseono prince daeso is looking for her. soseono exchanges looks with jumong and comments if daeso has business with her he should just come looking for her himself...
meanwhile king geumwa remembers the words of yeomieul who urged him not to do what he's doing right now regarding the matter of crowning a prince. geumwa tells budeukbul about what he said to yeomieul and comments he can no longer trust yeomieul and even now when he thinks about what she did he wants to kill her at once. the king then tells budeukbul he will not forgive anyone who betrays him.
the queen and her brother are elated at the accomplishments of daeso and youngpo. daeso compliments youngpo who says his accomplishment is nothing compared to daeso's. the queen then learns about the visit of sachuldo fairy mawulryeon to palace and the queen goes to see her. the queen meets mawulryeon and fairy yuseon. the fairies tell the queen not to worry for prince daeso is the most accomplished of the princes and he will surely be crowned.
soseono arrives at the palace at daeso's summon and soseono congrats him on his accomplishement. daeso replies the matter will benefit her family as well. then daeso hands her a gift of boxed jewelry, saying it may not be special to her since she is already rich but it represents his sincerity thus she should accept it.
soseono goes home and feels burdened by daeso's words. just then jumong arrives in her room to give her records from the day. soseono asks him to sit for moment and tells him she can't figure him out at all, nor does she understand why he's working here. soseono then comments what daeso did for buyeo was indeed a great thing for buyeo like he said, but daeso is currently in competition with him and as a man he should have more ambition. soseono then asks jumong if her words flame him and he says it is no use getting flamed over something you can't control. jumong then goes on and explains though both daeso and youngpo resolved the salt crisis of buyeo, but their solution is only short term, since if han nation changes its mind buyeo will once again fall into the same crisis, and the only way to really resolve the matter is for buyeo to not have to depend on han for salt. soseono asks if there is a way to do that and buyeo replies no, then leaves. after jumong leaves soseono comments jumong is not the thoughtless guy she thought before.
jumong and the oh-ma-hyep trio visit dochi and jumong greets buyoung who is working in the courtyard. then dochi appears and jumong tells him he will take buyoung away. dochi says even though jumong is a prince he cannot ignore the fact that buyoung is a slave here. jumong says buyoung was not always a slave and she was a palace maid before. dochi says it was a long time ago and if jumong wants her now he must pay 5000 yan for her, and another 5000 yan for her 2 siblings. jumong says he will pay dochi in the future if he will let her go now, but dochi says he's not a fool and leaves. jumong tells the crying buyoung that he will surely come back for her in the future.
prince youngpo drinks away his sorrowful anger at dochi's and asks for the maid buyoung to accompany him. dochi summons her and tells her she needs to serve prince youngpo today.youngpo tries to make a move on her but she shrugs away and youngpo slaps her then draws his sword so to kill her but dochi calms him down saying it is no use to kill a mere girl. youngpo returns to palace and is summoned by fairy yeomieul who asks if it is true that he and prince daeso drew an arrow on the sacred damul bow at shijo mountain. youngpo says he wouldn't lie to the king and yeomieul then tells him the damul bow has been broken and it has to be either daeso or youngpo since jumong didn't even get near it.
yeomieul says the one who broke the bow must be punished and youngpo fesses up and says neither him nor daeso were able to draw an arrow on the bow. yeomieul asks if they then lied to the king and youngpo says they couldn't tell the king about their failure, and asks yeomieul to keep their lie a secret. yeomieul says she understands and asks him to leave now. after he leaves yeomieul remembers the words of jumong who said he didn't find the bow of damul as he got lost in shijo mountain and yeomieul wonders if he too lied about it.
yeomieul summons the fairy star child to the palace and tells her to look through daeso and youngpo as the princes walk pass them. yeomieul asks about them and the star child shakes her head.
next yeomieul takes the star child to the house of yeontabal and the child walks before jumong and stares at him for a moment. jumong asks if hte child has something to say to him and the child faints after looking at jumong. yeomieul watches the happening from a distance and sees star child regain her conscious and walks away. yeomieul's fear is confirmed while jumong and musong wonder what the meeting was about.
jumong and musong arrive at the buyeo palace and they visit madam yoohwa and yoohwa's maid who greets them outside thx jumong for taking care of her brother musong, but jumong replies it is musong who is taking care of him. they two enter yoohwa's chamber and yoohwa tells him the matter he requested will be granted. musong thx yoohwa and then yoohwa asks jumong about what his plans are now that daeso and youngpo have each scored favor in the king's eyes. jumong says she mustn't worry too much and jumong takes musong to see mopalmo and tells musong his new post is at the buyeo weapon factory under mopalmo. next jumong gets the oh-ma-hyep trio to the facotry as well and urges all of them to help mopalmo figure out the recipe to cure iron so they can make superior swords like king geumwa has been wanting for years. mopalmo tells jumong about yeontabal soliciting his help to make swords before and jumong asks him if yeontabal knows the recipe to cure iron and mopalmo replies that is yet to be known.
next during court meeting, the king receives news from the elders of saculdo about their ease of mind that the crisis was resolved. the court messenger says it is all due to the accomplishment of prince daeso and the prosperity of king geumwa. daeso comments they must prevent future crisis like that and geumwa asks the queen's brother if he has found the culprit who stole weapons from buyeo factory yet and he replies not yet. prince youngpo appears nervous and the king tells the queen's brother they must find the culprit who is responsible for causing all the trouble. later prince youngpo urges his uncle to do something or else he will be killed by the king. daeso tells his servant naro he will have to find the culprit who stole the weapons from the factory himself. naro asks isn't the queen's brother on that case and daeso wonders why they haven't found the culprit yet.
meanwhile hyepbo is summoned by sayong who asks if the workload is really difficult and if so he should tell sayong. sayong then comments hyepbo resembles someone greatly. hyeopbo asks who and sayong then says he/she heard that hyepbo asked if sayong was a woman or a man, and sayong replies he can be female and male and for this ppl regard her as a freak. sayong then says before she came to yeontabal's she was raised by a general and hyepbo resembles that general greatly. sayong then says before hyepbo she is a female and hyeopbo gasps as he runs out of breath. hyeopbo leaves and mari and ohyi ask about his meeting with sayong and hyepbo comments sayong is a pitiful character indeed.
mopalmo visits yeontabal who reveals that he is about to find out the secret recipe to cure iron from a business associate from han nation. yeontabal then brings a knife made of superior metal and gives it to mopalmo as a present. later soseono finds out yeontabal merely bluffed about on the verge of finding out a secret formula to persuade mopalmo to help him.
meanwhile naro reports to prince daeso he found out dochi was the one behind the weapon thieves and daeso visits dochi and demands him to reveal who is behind him. dochi finally tells daeso it was prince youngpo and the queen's brother who were behind the steal. daeso returns to the palace and tells naro to bring youngpo and their uncle to him at once. when they arrive daeso asks why on earth they did such a foolish mistake and youngpo begs forgiveness saying they only tried to help daeso since they would need weapons in the future. youngpo goes on saying he never realized it would get so out of hand and continues to beg daeso to forgiveness. daeso says if the king were to find out the truth they would all be killed. daeso asks youngpo who else knows about this incident besides dochi and daeso orders youngpo to get rid of whoever knows the truth. mopalmo's assistant successfully made 1 sword as strong as that of the han nation but in the process 9 others failed. mopalmo tests it out and says not to tell the king about it until they can successfully make 10 such strong swords or else the king will be disappointed again.
mopalmo and musong takes that 1 sword to go see jumong but on the way they are ambushed by naro and a few men all masked in black. jumong and the trio rescue the duo in time and jumong unmasks the lead attacker and realizes it's daeso and youngpo's servant naro. next jumong goes to the palace and pays a visit to the two princes, and says the crime of stealing from the weapon factory is a great crime as is, and what would the punishment be if one were to attempt killing the head of the factory on top of such crime. daeso and youngpo are greatly alarmed, and jumong goes on saying he can't imagine what the king would do if he were to find out about all this. youngpo orders jumong to stop, but daeso tells youngpo to stop instead and jumong goes on to warn the two not to do anymore foolish things like so since he is no longer the same jumong and if they endanger him he will bring danger to them as well. jumong finsihes and gets up to leave. afterwards youngpo vows to kill jumong and daeso orders him to shut up again and throws youngpo out saying he doesn't even want to see his sorry image.
jumong pays yoohwa a visit and yoohwa tells jumong about her hometown habaek village and how salt was also a precious commodity there and her father wanted to marry her off to the man who had salt.
jumong asks if the king knows about it too and yoohwa says no since the king met her after the village was destroyed by the hans and she was being dragged away by the hyeonto warriors. jumong asks why habaek was destroyed by the hans and yoohwa pauses before saying that story will be told to him on another day.
yoohwa reveals there is a place outside of han that also produces salt and jumong leaves the palace again and asks gyepil about where yeontabal gets his salt. jumong then sends his trio to find a man from gosan nation. after they find a gosan man jumong goes to soseono and says he's got a proposition for her. _________________

Jumong ep. 16:
jumong (song il-guk) tells soseono (han hye-jin) he wants to go on a business trip with her to gosan nation.
soseono asks advice from her father and his advisors, and wootae says it's too dangerous, while sayong says gosan nation has nothing to offer for merchants, but soseono asks her father for approval saying she could bring lots of money to their business as well as other advancements. meanwhile prince daeso (kim seong-su) rethinks jumong's warning and is angered. he then calls his subject naru to go to yeontabal's to fetch soseono.
soseono receives her father's approval and she tells the good news to jumong who is happy as well. she asks jumong how he knows gosan nation has salt and jumong explains his mother from habaek heard of such when she was still a girl there. just then naru arrives and tells soseono prince daeso wishes to see her at the palace. soseono tells naru she is not someone who comes and goes at the prince's whim and naru should go back and tell the prince what she said. jumong watches as soseono declines daeso's invitation.
wootae says he will accompany her on the trip but yeontabal says he needs wootae for something else. wootae is still worried and tells sayong to keep a close eye on soseono, but sayong says wootae seems to worry over soseono more than he should, then sayong expresses disappointment that wootae isn't worried about sayong since he's also going.
naru returns to the palace and relates soseono's words to daeso. daeso is surprised but laughs saying soseono is a lawless woman and in that case he will go see her instead, as he continues to laugh at soseono's actions. sayong tries again to convince soseono not to go to gosan nation. soseono says it is already set. sayong asks whose idea it was to find salt in gosan nation, and soseono replies it was jumong's idea but she agrees with him. sayong says finding salt for buyeo might be a good thing for buyeo but it is not advantageous for their business since salt is a weapon of leverage for their business and what weapon will they use if they should ever go against buyeo.
jumong is walking alone towards the palace and sees musong making out with yoohwa's servant mudeok. jumong goes up to them and asks musong if he should be doing what he was doing with his sister, but musong replies mudeok is not his real sister since they don't share the same father nor mother.
jumong says he should still be careful in the future as they are right outside the palace, but musong says jumong with his reputation back from the palace days should not be the one to teach him about this matter.
jumong visits his mother and bids farewell before his trip to gosan. yoohwa (oh yeon-su) says she only heard of such thing as salt in gosan, but she could not confirm it to him, and jumong says he knows and it is still worth a try. yoohwa takes the ring from haemosu off of her necklace, and hands it to jumong, telling jumong to keep it and give it to the woman he likes when he finds her.
next jumong asks musong amd mopalmo to look after his mother and continue working on finding the secret formula while he's absent. mopalmo replies actually there's something he wants to show jumong.
mopalmo takes jumong to the weapon factory and shows jumong the strong sword they were able to manufacture. mopalmo shows jumong the sword is as strong as those made by the han nation and musong asks if this means mopalmo has found the secret formula already, but mopalmo says this sword was produced by accident and subsequent productions failed, but the possibility of figuring out the secret formula is there and soon he will find it.
buyeo's fairy witch yeomieul taks to the young fairy so-young from sachuldo's wooga sector. so-young tells yeomieul how she has been feeling uneasy since she's been here and yeomieul remembers the time when the star child fainted before jumong. yoohwa gets a visit from the king. yoohwa tells the king jumong will be going to gosan nation for yeontabal's business. the king comments jumong will be able to learn many things about the world as he travels such long road to gosan. yoohwa agrees, and the king then asks yoohwa if she knows haemosu was jumong's teacher, and when yoohwa replies yes, the king asks her if jumong knows haemosu is his father and yoohwa says no. the king comments should jumong find that out he would be severely traumatized.
yeomieul arrives at yoohwa's corridor and asks to see lady yoohwa. yoohwa's maid mudeok tells yeomieul the king is visiting with yoohwa, but yeomieul insists on seeing lady yoohwa and the king. yeomieul comes in and reports to king that the sacred damul bow was broken by one of the princes. yoohwa says jumong didn't even get near the bow since he got lost on his way to shijo mountain.
yeomieul ignores yoohwa and says the damul bow is not one that can be easily broken by the mere strength of a human, and the one who broke such sacred bow will surely bring a dark future to buyeo. the king asks if yeomieul is making up yet another crisis and says damul bow could be broken simply due to its antiquity. yeomieul expresses her worry over the matter and the king warns her buyeo's future will be decided by him not her.
yeomieul calls another meeting with sachuldo fairies and tells them they should prepare themselves for a holy sacrimony since buyeo's faced with danger. during the ceremony yeomieul sacrifices a young pig by mixing its blood with a pure feather before the sacrimony table. when the blood does not mix well with the holy water yeomieul is shaken with woes. budeukbul and other advisors watch and budeukbul tells the other advisors the fairy witch is engulfed with the holy ceremony for days since the king is not heeding her advice. the advisors say it will not be good if the citizens find out about this, and budeukbul comments the king has changed too much since the death of haemosu.
soseono visits sayong and tells him she still go on the trip, and that she will help jumong become a crown prince. sayong listens to her as she tells him instead of saving salt as their leverage,
she will use jumong as her weapon in time of need and this will be a weapon greater than salt.
at last wootae gives the trio and jumong some words of precaution before they leave for their journey. wootae also asks jumong to take care of soseono and jumong agrees.
yeontabal arrives and gives those leaving the okay to leave. wootae watches them leave and tells yeontabal he is not at peace watching soseono going on this trip. yeontabal replies he cannot watch her all his life and sooner or later she will have to go out to the world. soseono spots buyoung out from the crowd as buyoung finds jumong leaving buyeo. buyoung wishes him a good journey. jumong assures her once he returns he will get her out of dochi's, meanwhile dochi's man follows buyoung around and returns to tell dochi jumong is headed to gosan nation. dochi wonders if he heard wrong since gosan has nothing good to offer to merchants. dochi's man then asks dochi if he really believes prince youngpo can be a crown prince and dochi slaps his head saying he is not a fool and in this world one as gullible as youngpo will never be a crown prince,
meanwhile back in palace younpo tells one of the passing by palace maids to come to his bed at night. just then youngpo's uncle arrives and tells him doesn't he know that all palace maids are the king's women? youngpo replies the king only has eyes for one woman in the palace so it's not wrong to play with the other women.
during royal court, budeukbul reports to the king about the fairy witch busy with holy ceremonies and suggests the king to consult her . the king replies he already told him he no longer wants to be consulted about the fairy therefore from now on not to mention the fairy before him. the king then asks about the news reported by yeontabal about hae-in and okjo nations. an advisor responds according to yeontabal's report, during a meeting between han's hyeonto city rep and hae-in nation, reps from okjo nation was also there and this was odd since haein and okjo don't particularly get along well. the king asks daeso what he thinks of the matter and daeso replies surely hyeonto city is trying to build haein and okjo as allies against buyeo, then daeso says he will meet with yeontabal and find out more. the court adjourns and outside the court youngpo asks daeso what he thinks about the rift between the king and yeomieul, but daeso tells him its not for him to worry about, then youngpo tells daeso about how he told the fairy about what really happened at shijo and daeo is angered. youngpo asks daeso what he thinks about the one who broke the bow since jumong says he didnt' even get near shijo mountain and daeso calls him a fool who can't accomplish anything.
daeso visits yeontabal for the matter of haein vs. okjo nation. when daeso comments soseono is not there, yeontabal replies soseono went all the way to gosan nation for a business trip. daeso asks if by chance jumong went with her and yeontabal replies yes. daeso then asks yeontabal what he thinks about jumong and soseono. yeontabal tells daeso soseono once saved jumong from drowning in quickmud, and even took him to shijo mountain. shocked at this revelation, daeso remembers how jumong told the king he didn't make it to shijo mountain back then.
next, soseono stops the group for rest. soseono invites jumong inside the tent for meal, and jumong declines saying he is merely a laborer and he will eat with the other workers outside. sayong watches as soseono says nothing, showing disappointment. inside the tent soseono eats with gyepil and sayong. gyepil is worried about crossing haein nation tomorrow, and when soseono seems distracted, gyepil asks if he should get jumong in and soseono says not to worry about him. sayong grins as he watches soseono obviously bothered by rejection from jumong.
afterwards, soseono goes out and sits by jumong who is roasting fire alone. jumong urges her to go to bed but soseono replies she can't fall asleep, since she is worried about disappointing her father. jumong comforts her saying she will succeed. soseono asks on what account does he say that and jumong says since she is stronger than men. jumong then asks her if she remembers how she told him she could take on 10 men like him and how she called him a pathetic fool. soseono laughs and says back then he did appear pathetic talking too much and fearing too much. jumong agrees but asks if she still thinks of him as the same and soseono replies she's not sure since he appears to have improved a lot, but competing against daeso jumong may still be lacking a lot. jumong comments no one is as strong as daeso, and soseono replies if jumong means what he said then he is indeed pathetic still. at this they both smile.
just then gyepil and sayong appear from behind, and gyepil asks if sayong wants to make a bet with him. gyepil wants to bet that soseono is falling for jumong and asks sayong if he will bet on daeso. sayong says they should wage a higher bet then, since what your heart wants may be different from what reality needs, and soseono as he knows is a very pragmatic person. at this gyepil backs down and says it's foolish to make a bet.
the queen is worried about the relationship between the king and yeomieul, and the queen asks daeso to help mend the situation, but daeso says when he becomes king he will not allow a fairy to be involved in palace matters either. wootae reports to yeontabal han soldiers from hyeonto city are marching into buyeo. at the same time budeukbul reports to daeso ambassador yangjeong has arrived at buyeo. next yangjeong greets the king in the royal court.
meanwhile soseono, jumong, and the rest of the traveling group get an eyeful as they pass through the vibrant haein nation. at an eatery, soseono dines with gyepil and sayong, but soseono watches jumong who's eating with the trio at another table. jumong and the trio discuss the accuracy of their haein map as they eat. just then a passingby man recognizes soseono as the one who almost killed them once when they try to cheat on a deal. he goes back and reports this to his leader who cannot believe that she would step into haein nation after what she did to them. he orders his men to catch soseono at once and bring her to him. at night the men go to the inn where soseono's group is staying in search of soseono. just as these men enter her room, soseono awakes but pretends to be asleep until the men draw close to her. soseono pulls out her sword and asks the men who they are. the men start attacking her and jumong overhears noises from his room. next jumong comes to sosoeno's room and begins to fight off the men.... _________________

Jumong ep. 17:
credit: dramaok at soompi.com
jumong arrives to soseono's room at the inn and begins to fight off the attackers.
when jumong stabs one of the men to death the rest run away on horse. sayong recognizes the stabbed one as one of the man from the group that tried to cheat soseono during her first merchant trip.
sayong does more research and learns that the attackers are led by baemang, who used to be a general of haengin nation, but after trying to cheat soseono he lost his position and became a thug, and this attack seemed to be about revenge. sayong advises soseono and the group to return to buyeo at once since should they continue their journey they will meet with more danger.
soseono asks jumong for his opinion and jumong replies he wishes to go to gosan nation no matter what.
han ambassador yang-jeong asks king geumwa to send 10,000 buyeo soldiers to fight a battle for han nation against seo-nam, and suggests the king to use this as an opportunity for buyeo to contribute toward han nation. the king asks for time to think it over, and his advisors are worried. youngpo is disgusted at the way yangjeong is threatening buyeo as if buyeo is his dog and youngpo tells daeso and the queen that he wants to kill yangjeong. daeso scoffs at him again saying that will ruin their nation.
next, yangjeong asks to see prince daeso, and yangjeong advises daeso to convince the king on his behalf or else the crisis of buyeo will return. daeso asks yangjeong to promise him that buyeo's army men will be clad in armore and that yangjeong will return the army men to buyeo. with this promise, daeso sees the king and tries to persuade him to agree to yangjeong's request, but the king asks daeso what if the hans lose their battle w/ buyeo's army? daeso argues this is a opportunity for buyeo to distinguish itself as a strong nation, but the king asks if they must sacrifice lives of young just to make themselves a strong nation.
meanwhile in haengin nation, jumong, ohyi and hyepbo spy on baemang's camp to see what structure they have and how many men they have, while mari studies the only viable route that leads to gosan nation from haein. mari watches as a group of merchants are ambushed and attacked by baemang's men.
gyepil persuades soseono to lead the group back home at once, and soseono says even though she really wanted to make it to gosan, since she knows her father is testing her ability through this mission, but she agrees with gyepil and sayong's assessment of danger and tells gyepil to get the group ready to head home.
just then jumong returns. soseono tells him the regrettable decision to return home since it's too dangerous, but jumong asks for 2 days to get rid of the danger. sayong asks if he intends to fight off baemang, and jumong says he's not sure and finding a route that can avoid the thugs is another possible solution. soseono agrees to give him 2 days. later mari asks jumong how in the world will he come up with a solution in 2 days and jumong replies he must pass throught the route in person. thus jumong and the trio pass through the route disguised as merchants and surely they are attacked and taken to custody at baemang's camp.
back at the inn, sayong asks soseono what she's thinking while they're having tea. soseono replies nothing and sayong asks if she's curious what solution jumong might come up with. soseono says not really, since she's not expecting much and the only reason she agreed to giving him 2 days worth of time is because she knows how important this trip is to jumong. whereas she can go on this trip again anytime in the future, jumong won't have the same opportunity again. sayong comments soseono's heart seems to be leaning towards jumong. soseono says she will not argue otherwise because when she looks at jumong she wants to do everything for him, and asks sayong if she understands that kind of feeling. sayong says nothing and gyepil arrives, telling them jumong went into baemang's camp. sayong comments jumong will not be soseono's weapon afterall.
jumong, mari, hyepbo and ohyi are tied up in the makeshift prison, and are scheming a way to get out at night to attack their capturer. but just then dochi's men arrive and ask to buy some slaves. dochi's men see that jumong is among the captured slaves and are happy at such. night time arrives, and jumong tells the trio it's time they make their escape. hyeopbo with his superhuman strength breaks the rope around him and frees himself and the others. but unbeknowns to jumong and the trio, baemang has already learned about his identity and are waiting to trap them. jumong and the trio find an empty house inside the camp but as they come out they are surrounded by baemang and his men, along with dochi's men. jumong and the trio are left with no choice but to surrender.
dochi's right-hand man leaves haengin, and tells baemang he must kill jumong. baemang says before he will kill jumong he must capture soseono first. dochi's man says that's up to him, but one thing for sure is that he must kill jumong. after dochi's group leaves, baemang's man asks if he will really kill jumong and if he really is a prince then it could be a big deal. baemang says the foremost matter is to capture soseono.
dochi's man returns to tell dochi about what happened, and buyoung overhears their conversation. while dochi goes to tell youngpo the 'good news' buyoung weeps...
meanwhile back in the palace yeomieul faints during the ceremony. when she awakes the other fairies tell her the king has yet to make up his mind about the request from yangjeong.
yangjeong meets with budeukbul and daeso, and yangjeong is angry how long the king is wavering about a simple request. yangjeong comments he has no choice but to return the relationship between buyeo and han to the dire state it was before daeso brought haemosu's head, if the king cannot accept his request at once.
mopalmo rants his woes to musong as he is drunk on wine. mopalmo blurs out how he wishes jumong will be the crown prince and future king. just then prince youngpo arrives and yells at mopalmo for saying what he said. musong begs for forgiveness saying mopalmo is drunk. youngpo tells mopalmo if he will say such thing again he will not survive even if he had 10 heads. meanwhile yoohwa's maid mudeok tells lady yoohwa the king has yet to make his decision on what yangjeong asked. mudeok worries if the king rejects yangjeong buyeo will once again fallen into a crisis. yoohwa tells her to go to yeontabal's and find news of jumong.
next day in court the king summons yangjeong and tells him he will not lend his troops to han. yangjeong warns him to reconsider or else han and buyeo's relationship will be severed. yangjeong continues to warn geumwa about the future between them and the king is angered and orders him to shut up at once.
king geumwa then tells yangjeong han nation is the one who will suffer from a bad relationship with buyeo. yangjeong replies he will relate his words to the han imperial word by word. yangjeong leaves and the king orders his subjects to get the armies ready for movement. the king's advisors meet and and divided on what they should do, and budeukbul says the biggest problem facing them will be the shortage of salt and they must find a way to overcome it independent of han nation.
yeomieul goes to see the king after she hears about what the king decided on and she tells the king he is too harsh for not visiting even for once during the many days of holy ceremony. the king replies he already told her he is not gonna concern himself with her fairy matter anymore so if she's here to argue about that she should just leave at once. yeomieul states she never lived for herself, and that before she was a fairy woman she was a woman with prince geumwa and he alone in her heart, and after she became a fairy she only lived for buyeo nation. geumwa replies similarly haemosu meant everything to him and the wound she caused him will never be healed. yeomieul then says the king is unable to see clearly the national matters because of his severed relationship with the gods. the king asks if he must sacrifice the blood of 10 thousand soldiers to satisfy the gods, and the king tells her not to block his eyes and ears anymore with the name of the gods.
yeontabal sees that buyeo is getting ready for battle. wootae asks if they should leave this place, and yeontabal replies it is not too late to wait a while and wonders how soseono is doing on her mission.
meanwhile 2 days have passed since jumong's capture and gyepil and sayong urge her to return to buyeo soon. soseono replies she will go to baemang's camp herself. sayong scoffs her for acting unlike herself. soseono replies she remembers the words her father told her as a kid, which is that a merchant must know how to make a deal even with his enemy. sayong asks if she's gonna make a deal with baemang and soseono says that is not impossible. soseono then orders gyepil to stay behind to watch the group while she and sayong go to baemang's camp. soseono asks sayong if he rejects the idea and sayong says he wants to see what deal she will make and thus he will go with her.
soseono arrives at baemang's and demands to see general baemang. baemang's man tells her baemang is not present at the moment and orders other men to put her in jail for the timebeing. soseono walks herself into the jail. sayong tells them soseono came here on her own and hyepbo wonders why she would do that. sayong tells hyeopbo it's good that he's well and hyeopbo is speechless. jumong asks soseono if she is really here on her own will and soseono replies yes, and asks him why he didn't tell her he was planning on going through the route himself. jumong apologizes for causing the trouble with a bad judgment. soseono says not to apologize since she's here to make a deal with baemang.
baemang returns and finds out soseono came on her own. meanwhile jumong asks soseono what she will do if her deal is not accepted, and that it is dangerous to make a deal with her life at stake. soseono says she's dealt her fate in jumong's hands, and even if she fails and she loses her life, she will not have any regrets. jumong studies soseono in shock of her words, but baemang's men arrive to take soseono to baemang. as she leaves jumong calls her and says he too will wage his life in her hands. _________________

episode 18
soseono sits across from baemang and tells him her group is on their way to gosan nation far away and poverty stricken, then asks baemang if he wonders why on earth a merchant group would go there.
baemang is speechless and soseono then asks baemang if he will do business with her.
meanwhile back in the prison, mari asks jumong why soseono is here and jumong replies she is here to make a deal with baemang, hyepbo and ohyi wonder how she is going to make a deal with someone who intends to kill them all, and mari angrily wonders why they've put their lives in ssn's hands, but hyepbo says for ssn to come here on her own foot she must have something planned.
back in buyeo, the thuglord dochi heads to the palace and tells prince youngpo that jumong has been caught by his business associate in haengin nation and jumong is about to be killed. youngpo asks who else knows and when dochi says no one else yp orders dc not to tell that to anyone else. yp goes to see his mother and prince daeso, and tells them jumong is dead. yp tells them his inferior told him the good news just now. daeso asks what about the rest of the ppl who went with jumong and yp says he doesn't know yet.
ds tells yp not to say something that they haven't confirmed with their own eyes. yp pleads to be believed but ds says he should think about how many foolish things he's done in the past. ds leaves and the queen tells yp his brother merely wants him to be more serious in the future and orders yp not to tell the king about the news of jumong.
meanwhile buyoung goes to see lady yoohwa, who apologizes to buyoung for not looking after her before. BY cries and calls out to YH. YH says BY must be suffering because of JM, and BY says JM has been caught and his life is at risk. daeso tells his servant naro he's headed to yeontabal's camp and tells naro to prepare for it. yoohwa is pacing nervously back and forth in her room, and her maid mudeok suggests she goes to see yeontabal at once. daeso arrives at yeontabal's and asks him if he knows if seosono et al. are in danger and yeontabal smilingly answers a merchant must go through danger in order to be successful and soseono is a strong woman born at the brink of danger and thus she will turn out fine. daeso is still worried but decides to listen to yeontabal and leaves, saying he will come back in the future to discuss the matter of okjeo more. just as yeontabal escorts daeso out, lady yoohwa arrives and daeso asks why she's here. yoohwa thanks yeontabal for looking after jumong. daeso and yoohwa exchange looks and yoohwa goes inside with yeontabal after daeso leaves. yoohwa asks yeontabal for jumong's news and yeontabal says daeso told him soseono and the rest are in danger but the group is doing fine so she shouldn't worry. yoohwa replies he appears to not know that the group is indeed in grave danger. yeontabal sends wootae to find more info at once and wootae and a group of men rush to haengin nation.
at baemang's camp in haein nation, jumong and the trio are told to leave the prison. they are escorted out and jumong glances at soseono who is smilingly slightly. when they get out baemang orders his men to undo their ropes and baemang begs for forgiveness for his bad treatment of the prince, after saluting jumong.
next, gyepil expresses his elation at soseono's doing, and sayong compliments soseono as well saying she's even greater than her father. soseono remarks it's a rare compliment from sayong and even if he's just joking she is still happy to hear it. jumong and the trio are drinking in celebration at the eatery and mari wonders if ssn is interested in jumong. hyepbo agrees what she did was more than a boss should do but more like something one would do for the one they like. jumong tells them to drink up instead but wonders about his relationship with soseono queitly...
meanwhile ssn is in her room and smiles as she remembers the words she exchanged with jumong about putting each other in the other's hands. next day, as ssn's group heads out to continue their journey, baemang and his men arrive and ssn tells her men not to worry since baemang and his men are here to escort them all the way to gosan nation.
back in buyeo, salt is heavily rationed by the order of the king since han nation has stopped their export of salt to them. yeontabal watches as two men fight over a bag of salt leaving a child crying in the middle of it.
king geumwa's advisors and generals report to the king about the severity of salt shortage in buyeo.
the queen's brother tells the king at this rate the citizens of buyeo will be fleeing from buyeo and budeukbul angrily tells him to stop the nonsense but the queen's brother says budeukbul didn't see how bad the situation outside the palace has become.
wootae returns to tell yeontabal that both soseono and jumong are doing fine and on their way to gosan as planned. yentabal visits the king and offers to give 2000 units of salt which he has in his warehouse. the king asks what will happen then and yeontabal says what happens next is a business transaction between them. ytb says he wishes to build his own weapon factory, thus he hopes the king will lend him mopalmo to help him build his private factory. the king agrees and yeontabal leaves his court, and yeontabal runs into yoohwa outside and he reports to the lady not to worry about jumong since they're on their way to gosan nation. yoohwa thanks yeontabal for the good news.
meanwhile the sachuldo fairies ask yeomieul to find a way to stop the unrest among buyeo's citizens. yeomieul offers no solution and the fairies are worried. next the queen summons 2 of the sachuldo fairies and asks if they can stop the unrest but they answer even yeomieul who's always had a solution in dire situations cannot ease the situation. the queen suggests to mawoori fairy to be the king's fairy since what buyeo needs is not someone like yeomieul but someone like mawoori. the queen's words sparks a greed in mawoori but she says that's too much but the queen insists daeso also wants the same and if he can be the crown prince and future king mawoori will surely be the next lead fairy.
yeomieul visits yoohwa and tells her about how she loved king geumwa before she became a fairy and how she continues to put him above all else and the love she wished he would reciprocate is what he gives to yoohwa instead, and yme says even though she knows after what happened to haemosu, yoohwa is probably scarred deeply but she must believe that yme has the king and buyeo's best interest in heart, and what she did to haemosu was following what the heaven's wanted. yme continues and tells yoohwa the king is on the wrong path and yoohwa is the only one who can help him, but yoohwa says perhaps the wrong path is noneother than yeomieul and if yeomieul is here to ask yoohwa to persuade the king to accept han nation's requests then she is wrong. yoohwa says haemosu wanted to fight against the han and she will help the king and jumong carry that out. yeomieul is in tears hearing that yoohwa is determined not to help her.
yoohwa visits the king and tells the king she understands how lonely he must be these days and she's sorry she couldn't help him. king says she knows buyeo is in dire state but he will not succomb to yangjeong's conditions. yoohwa tells the king she will stand behind his decision. the king thanks yoohwa addressing her as his wife.
jumong and the trio go around gosan nation asking the scattered poor citizens if they know where the salt mountain is. but just as they mention the word salt the citizens run away and the trio comment something must be up, and how gosan doesn't even seem like a nation with no real village even. but an old gosan man watches from distance what the newcomers are doing. at night soseon's group is gathered and wonder if such thing as a salt mountain really exist in gosan nation. jumong assures them it must exist, and soseono comments they must look for it themselves. next morning ssn's group and baemang's men search all over gosan nation for the legendary salt mountain. they find nothing after a day of search and mari thinks jumong may have been lied to.
baemang demands to see soseono, asking if she's lied to him. baemang says he tried to believe them but he can't stand it anymore since the salt mountain just isn't there. jumong tries to calm him saying they just need to find it. baemang continues saying they can't find something that doesn't exist. just then the old man appears and tells them the salt mountain does exist. the old man reveals that the gosan nation's fairy closed it down a few decades ago saying it is cursed. ssn asks the old man if he can take them there and he replies yes. sayong asks him what he wants from them and the old man says nothing. the man says he's lived long enough and before he dies he wants to show the gosan ppl that they have hope too. next ssn and baemang's ppl are led to the salt mountain by the old gosan man.
when they get closer the trio inspect the mountain and sees that the mountain is watched by gosan's army.
sayong advises them not to harm the army men and ssn agrees saying they should wait til night time to make their move. when night falls jumong, ssn, and the rest are led to the cave by the gosan man. before they enter, the man says he will go in first. as they wait the man returns holding a block of salt. mari licks and says it's salty, then jumong tries it too and tells ssn it is indeed salt. just then the gosan man is shot by arrow and a group of army men appear pointing swords and arrows at ssn's group.
next jumong, ssn, and the trio are in the prison. when asked by the prisonward who is the one in charge, ssn stands up saying it is she, and jumong stands up saying it was his idea to go to gosan.
but ssn stops jumong saying she is the merchant in charge and goes out with the gosan general. ssn is led to gosan's fairywoman who asks where ssn came from. ssn answers she is a merchant from yentabals's camp. the fairy chu-yu-seong asks why she's here and ssn says to look for salt for buyeo.
ssn says the ppl are suffering and asks the fairy if she will do business with her. the fairy says the rightful owner of salt mountain is acutally habaek group who has helped gosan. ssn says habaek is already destroyed by the han and the fairy says she knows and she is waiting to hand the mountain to habaek's survivor. next ssn brings jumong before the fairy and introduces him as prince jumong, decedant of habaek (through yoohwa). the fairy bows and kneels before jumong.
back at the palace king geumwa tells his subjects buyeo will not heed to yangjeong's request and buyeo will send army to fight okjeo for salt. geumwa tells his lead general to get an army ready, and states he will lead the army himself. daeso tells the king he will lead the army inplace of the king and asks for permission.
the news gets to yangjeong who is angry at geumwa, and yangjeong reveals he never needed geumwa's soldiers for he was merely trying to test geumwa, but now that geumwa has gone against him, yangjeong will lead an army to okjeo too. before they leave, king geumwa tells his subjects to prepare themselves for death in the war against okjeo. just then jumong arrives and stops them from going. the king asks who ssn is and jumong introduces her as yeontabal's daughter. daeso asks youngpo what's going on and youngpo is at loss for words. jumong then tells the king buyeo will no longer have to be at han's mercy for salt, since they have found a salt mountain in gosan for buyeo's dispense. _________________

episode 19 summary
credit: dramaok at soompi.com
the king asks jumong where he heard that gosan nation has salt mountain, and jumong replies he heard it from his mom who said back in the days habaek village ppl would go to gosan nation for salt.
the king is satisfied and compliments jumong and soseono for their well doing. the king then tells general to cancel the mission to okjeo, and orders his subject to give out the salt to the needy citizens at once.
king geumwa then announces there will a feast in celebration and everyone must attend.
meanwhile at yeontabal's, sayong and gyepil deliver the goodnews of their success to yeontabal.
wootae says soseono indeed scored a good deed for stopping the war with okjeo. yeontabal states it's true but what she did has caused a war between daeso and jumong since their competition is stronger now.
yeon-chae-ryeong (yeontabal's sister) arrives with salt from yeontabal's warehouse and gyepil appears surprised by her presence.
back in the palace the queen is angry at jumong's success, and her maid reports the rumor around the palace is that jumong is the one who has won the competition among the princes for the crown prince title.
the queen's brother says it's true that what jumong accomplished is the greatest, but the queen states she will not have jumong be crowned. youngpo vows to hep daeso be crowned but the queen replies youngpo should look after himself first. daeso tells the queen it has merely just started. daeso goes out to the courtyard and watches as jumong and soseono walk by smiling and glazing at each other.
soseono tells jumong she will return to her home but jumong convinces her to go see his mom with him first. soseono wants to come back when she's better dressed but jumong insists she goes in now.
yoohwa tells jumong how happy she's that he's come back safely and jumong says it was all because of soseono, but soseono says she's the one who should thank yoohwa and jumong for leading her to the salt mountain. jumong goes on about how soseono saved him by putting her life at risk, and how soseono is the one who saved him during his trip to shijo mountain. soseono replies jumong has saved her in the past too, and yoohwa smiles. soseono says she should leave since she has yet to visit her father since she returned and afterwards, yoohwa tells jumong his fate with soseono seems very special since she saved him twice, yoohwa then asks jumong if he still has the ring she gave him, and jumong replies yes.
yoohwa then asks if he wants to give that out now and jumong says not yet, and yoohwa nods telling him he should make the decision seriously.
youngpo takes his anger out on dochi by slashing part of dochi's hair off. youngpo leaves and dochi then takes his anger out on his inferior by beating him with a stool and kicking him. meanwhile, soseono returns to her home, and gyepil and sayong go on about how brave soseono was. wootae says soseono was immature instead of brave, and she was merely lucky, and she should not do the same again because that kind of luck only comes around once. yeontabal advises soseono to be cautious in the future and everyone leaves, except sayong who stays behind. next, sayong tells yeontabal soseono seems to have given her heart to prince jumong.
gyepil hands out reward money to the workers at yeontabal's and gyepil gives hyepbo 2 shares of money, saying sayong wants to give his to hyeopbo. ohyi and mari laugh, while hyepbo isn't sure what to think of it.
afterwards ohyi visits buyoung and she asks ohyi how jumong is doing. ohyi replies he's fine so she needn't worry. ohyi then says since jumong is back he'll surely help her leave dochi's place this time. ohyi then hands his reward money to buyoung and tells her to keep it. ohyi returns to yeontabal's and remains in a bad mood. when mari and hyeopbo urge him to get ready for the feast at buyeo palace, and ohyi says he won't go.
yeonchaeryeong helps soseono get ready and soseono tells her aunt about how she used to always calculate before making a transaction but during the last trip all she wanted was to save jumong even though she said she was doing business, soseono reveals how this was the first time she felt this way in her heart. jumong visits mopalmo and musong who congratulate him and jumong says the real competition has just began and they have to focus on finding the secret formula to perfecting strong swords.
yeomieul talks with the young schuldo fairy soryeong and yeomieul asks soryeong if the bad omen she felt when she entered buyeo had to do with jumong and soryeong says she's not sure.
just then the other sachuldo fairies come and asks yeomieul to prepare for the feast attendance, but yeomieul states she will not attend. the fairy yuseong is worried about the severed relationship between yeomieul and the king, but the other fairy tells her how the queen intends to make mawuryeo the next palace fairy. mawuryeo comments the business of setting head fairy is a matter of the heaven's so everyone should watch what they say.
the celeration feast begins in buyeo palace, with drummers and dancers opening the ceremony while the guests and the royal family dine an wine. daeso watches in jealousy as jumong and soseono toast to each other and seemingly having a goodtime. when the music stops, the king calls jumong, soseono, and yeontabal to come out in front. they follow his order and the king pours wine in 3 cups for them, then says they have erased the pain of the king and the citizens and he will not forget their contribution.
the king tells them to drink up and yeontabal praises the king's sovereignty. the king then says he will grant a wish to prince jumong for what he has accomplished. budeukbul jumps in and says even tough jumong's contribution is grand, but.. and he is interrupted by the king who says not to worry since he's not about to crown anyone yet. jumong states the king's reward should be awarded to soseono, for she is the one who believed in him and went all the way to gosan in search of salt. soseono replies she is happy that her family could bring this joy to buyeo, and her wish is that her merchant family can be like today with the imperial family always. the king grants her wish and promises the buyeo royal family will always be in good terms with soseono's.
jumong and daeso are both happy at soseono's reply. afterwards naro comes to soseono and tells her prince daeso wishes to see her for a moment. next, naro escorts soseono to daeso, and daeso thanks soseono for what she has done for buyeo. soseono says she was merely a lucky merchant.
daeso replies he is more happy that he could see her again alive then the fact that she did such a great deed for buyeo, for he was worried sick when he heard she was captured by the haein thuglord.. soseono apologizes for making him worry, and daeso walks closer to her and tells her he will surely be crowned prince and afterwards he will make her his queen. soseono studies daeso in surprise..
just then jumong walks by and sees soseono with daeso, and jumong appears jealoused.
daeso tells his mom he will go to hyeonto city to see yangjeong, since yangjeong had promised him previously that he would help him be crowned prince, and since yangjeong must have been hurt greatly by the king's decision, it is time for daeso to mend the bad tie between buyeo and yangjeong.
the queen agrees and warns him to be cautious. daeso tells her to keep his journey a secret from everyone else and he then leaves immediately for hyeonto city.
the king summons jumong to his room and the king tells jumong how proud he is, since even though one can make a contribution anytime, it is hard for one to change, and the king is very happy to see jumong return as a changed man. jumong replies he has lots to improve on still. king geumwa then hands jumong an important message to deliver to yangjeong at hyeonto city, and names jumong his teuk-sa-ja (special general). jumong says such important business should be given to someone like daeso instead, but the king calls his head general in and tells him to accompany jumong to hyeonto.
the queen and her clan find out about how the king's sending jumong on a mission as special general, and the queen is upset saying how the king always favored jumong and she's gotta see the king, but her brother calms her down saying she must be patient. budeukbul and the queen's brother meet with the other advisors and express how displeased they are at the king's selection of jumong but the other advisors say it's a rightful decision based on jumong's contribution.
next budeukbul goes to see the king and when the king mentions how yeomieul was absent from the festival, budeukbul pleads the king to look favorly towards yeomieul since she has been working hard for buyeo. budeukbul sees yeomieul and tells her it seems jumong has the upper hand in the crown prince competition, but yeomieul tells budeukbul jumong broke the damul arrow, and he must be haemosu's blood.
meanwhile soseono thinks about daeso's promise to make her queen when he becomes king, and at this thought soseono sighs.
jumong gets ready to go on the mission as the king's special messenger, and the king hands jumong the king's golden sword as a token of power. jumong accepts it and leaves for hyeonto city. as he passes through the palace gate, he exchanges looks and smiles with soseono who is watching him from the crowd. sayong who is next to soseono also bows to the prince as he passes by.
next, dochi's inferior meets with baemang and asks how he can let jumong live. baemang says it was more profitable to keep jumong alive than to kill him, and he was right for he will be making big money from now on. dochi's inferior is stunned without word. just then buyoung brings dochi's favorite pig intestine (or something disgusting i don't know it's bloody), but dochi says he has no appetite. dochi asks how he can meet yeomieul so he can make a wish cuz things aren't going well for him these days,
but buyoung says yeomieul does not pray for personal requests. after buyoung leaves dochi's righthand man arrives and tells dochi he has a way to get prince youngpo's trust back.
in hyeonto city, daeso arrives and yangjeong asks him why he didn't tell him about the existence of a salt mountain in gosan nation, and if he did he would've blocked jumong from reaching there.
daeso replies no one else knew about it. afterwards daeso drinks with his servant naro and tells him the farther he goes the lonelier it becomes.. naro replies it is because of the buyeo throne in the big picture. daeso says he will return the pain he's felt to those who've made him this low. jumong arrives in yangjeong's court and yangjeong wonders why he's here. daeso arrives outside the court and asks the guard if it's true that jumong came as a special general. the guard confirms it and daeso is upset.
inside yangjeong's court, yangjeong reads the message from geumwa which states buyeo will no longer be subject to han's demands. yangjeong comments buyeo is ungrateful since without han buyeo would have be anything. jumong replies han has not been supporting buyeo,
instead it has been threatening buyeo with its unending conditions and thus buyeo has been living in hell under the threats of han. jumong further states if han should threaten buyeo more buyeo will be the first to send army toward han. yangjeong is angered beyond belief and jumong leaves.
outside the court jumong runs into daeso who says he has something to say to him. jumong asks daeso why he's here and daeso replies that's none of his business. daeso then asks jumong what exactly did he say to yangjeong, and jumong replies that is not for daeso to know, since he is here not as a prince, but as a special general of the king. daeso is shocked by this and jumong states he must know why daeso is here first. daeso yells at him and asks if he really thinks he's gonna be the crown prince by the small contribution he made. daeso says to mark his words that this is not the end, and leaves.
back in buyeo, ohyi gets a bad news and runs to wake up mari and hyeopbo, to tell them that dochi has sold buyoung as a slave to the han nation. the trio arrive at dochi's and demand to see dochi, but dochi's servant tells them the master will not see them, and it's too late since buyoung has already been sold and had she been prettier they would've gotten a better price.
dochi's man goes inside and tells dochi the fish has taken bait and in no time they will catch their fish. mari and hyeopbo state the only thing they can do is to wait for jumong to return, but ohyi says it can't wait and goes to see yeontabal. ohyi asks yeontabal to lend him money, and gyepil scolds him for asking the merchant master for money. yeontabal asks how much, and ohyi says 10 thousand nyang. yeontabal laughs and asks what he will do with that money. ohyi replies he cannot answer it and yeontabal says he is funny to ask for that much money without telling a reason. ohyi says he will give him his life and yeontabal asks how much his life is worth, then comments at this point even if he sold himself he is not worth the 10 thousand nyang and he should return when he is worth that amount. soseono watches as ohyi gets rejected. next, ohyi gets drunk and runs to dochi's insisting on seeing dochi. then ohyi kneels before dochi and begs dochi not to sell buyoung. dochi says it's already done, and ohyi promises to do everything he wants as long as he doesn't sell buyoung. dochi asks if he is really prepared to do anything he wants and ohyi replies yes.
youngpo brings dochi and ohyi to daeso at night. daeso asks if ohyi is jumong's man, and asks ohyi if he knows what jumong is up to. at dochi's urging, ohyi reveals to daeso that jumong believes the way to win the crown title is to find the secret formula for curing sword and jumong is currently working with mopalmo to figure out the formula. _________________

Jumong 20 Summary
credit: dramaok @ soompi.com
prince daeso thinks about what ohyi told him, that jumong is working with mopalmo of buyeo palace weapon factory to create superior swords for the king. prince youngpo, on the other hand, celebrates by drinking infront of dochi, saying daeso finally appreciates him, but his grand plan is to help daeso beat jumong first, then afterwards he will go against daeso to win the crown prince title. dochi congrats youngpo for his brilliant plan. next, ohyi is taken to youngpo who says he did a great deed and if things succeed he will reward ohyi. however, ohyi appears burdened as he walks back to yeontabal's merchant base.
jumong returns to buyeo and reports to king geumwa the happenings at hyeonto city, including the threat he made to yangjeong in responds to yangjeong's threat. the king laughs and says jumong did as he would and the head general comments he was surprised at how well jumong did as well. as the king is pleased, daeso and youngpo show their disgust in court. afterwards jumong greets his brothers by nodding toward daeso and youngpo, and youngpo is flusterred again, complaining to daeso about his worry that the king might crown jumong soon. daeso tells him to stop talking and orders naro to go to the weapon factory.
naro goes to the weapon factory and watches mopalmo, but musong arrives and asks naro what he's doing here. when naro says it is none of his business musong answers he must know since he is the guard here.
naro says he is prince daeso's man and how dare he question him, but musong is alarmed and reports this to mopalmo. next naro finds deokgu, who is mopalmo's lead worker, and naro brings him to daeso who asks about the weapon making progress. deokgu reveals not long ago they created a sword that is as strong as the one made by the hans, and daeso asks why it was not reported to the king
deokgu answers since it seemed to be created as a result of a fluke and not by any sercret formula, they did not report this to anyone. daeso dismisses deokgu and orders him not to tell about today's visit to anyone. after deokgu leaves, youngpo suggests they should summon mopalmo to find out exactly what jumong's plans are, but daeso says not yet, and just then daeso is given a message from budeukbul.
meanwhile jumong visits his mother lady yoohwa who praises him for his well doing, but when jumong tells her how he met daeso at hyeonto, yoohwa warns him he must maintain his diligence and caution in the future, even though he had the upper hand this round. yoohwa then tells jumong about how the king and oracle yeomieul know about damul arrow being broken. jumong asks if they know if was him who broke it, and yoohwa says not sure, but yeomieul said the breaker of such sacred bow will bring darkness to buyeo,
thus she might use it against him in the competition of prince crowning.
daeo goes to see budeukbul at his request by messenger. budeukbul asks daeso if he ran into jumong at hyeonto, and daeso replies yes. budeukbul comments how surprised daeso must have been.
daeso tells budeukbul jumong is trying to figure out the secret formula for sword making and states if jumong succeeds that will be a greater contribution than finding the gosan salt mountain, and that will surely be the end of both him and budeukbul. budeukbul reveals to daeso the one who broke damul bow is jumong. daeso comments he realized jumong had lied when he said he didnt' even get close to shijo mountain, but wonders how jumong managed to break the strong bow. daeso suggests they should tell this to the king but budeukbul says it is not time yet, since the king is not the same since the death of haemosu, and they must wait for the right opportunity to best use it against jumong.
jumong returns to yeontabal's merchant base and wootae greets him saying he thought jumong would rest a little longer before coming here. jumong goes inside to see yeontabal and soseono who wonders what will happen between han nation and buyeo after what's all happened. yeontabal says the relationship shouldn't be completely severed, since han nation still needs many resources from buyeo... jumong leaves after exchanging smile with soseono. jumong meets with the trio and asks if everything's okay. mari reveals buyoung was sold to a han merchant and jumong runs to dochi's camp looking for dochi. dochi comes out to the corridor and asks jumong what he's doing here.
jumong asks where buyoung is and if he forgot that he said he was coming to get her. dochi says he waited but he didn't come and there were so many ppl wanting to buy her so he had to do what was needed. jumong is angry and demands to know where buyoung is. dochi says he doesn't know since he's not her owner anymore. jumong vows dochi will regret this one day and leaves. mari tells jumong dochi never intended to send buyoung to them in the first place. jumong comforts ohyi and promises him he will surely find buyoung. ohyi says nothing and walks away... mari tells jumong not to worry too much and jumong says it was his fault for not saving buyoung sooner. ohyi returns to dochi's and asks to see buyoung. dochi tells his man to take ohyi to see buyoung. ohyi is taken by dochi's man to buyoung who tells ohyi she was told she was being sold to the hans but instead she's been kept here in this house doing nothing.
buyoung asks how jumong is doing, and ohyi says not to worry cuz he will save her for sure.
later, ohyi drinks with hyeopbo and mari, and ohyi complains that if jumong really cared about buyoung he would've been able to save her a long time ago, and things wouldn't have been this bad had he even visited her after returning from his trip. jumong goes to see wootae and asks wootae to help him find buyoung. wootae says he will try.
meanwhile musong and mopalmo arrive at yeontabal's with musong wondering if he will be named head general if jumong inherits the throne. but yeontabal's sister yeonchaeryeong arrives and asks what they're doing here, then she slaps mopalmo and gyepil appears to put a stop to it. musong and mopalmo meet with jumong to inform him about naro's visit. the two wonder if daeso knows what jumong is up to, and ohyi appears uncomfortable by the discussion. jumong replies the only ones who know about jumong's plan are mopalmo, musong, the trio, and himself so daeso probably doesn't know anything yet. afterwards ohyi reports to youngpo about jumong knowing daeso's man was at the weapon factory.
at the palace, the queen visits the king and says the citizens are restless because of the rift between the king and buyeo's oracle. the queen then suggest if the king is unhappy with yeomieul, perhaps he should set a new palace oracle. queen then informs him of the great skills of the oracle mawuryeo from sachuldo's maga sector. the king does not want to be bothered anymore with the matter and tells the queen to take care of it as she wishes. the queen is delighted and goes to tell her brother about it and how she's doing all this to help daeso in the future since yeomieul is not on their side, but mawuryeo will help daeso if she becomes the new palace oracle.
next the king's advisors and scholars are briefing and the discuss how in the han vs. seonam war, han nation will probably win but since they will suffer a great casualty they won't have army to send against buyeo. next, the queen's brother brings up the matter of yeomieul vs. the king and how the matter is worrisome. budeukbul asks if he's trying to get rid of yeomieul and the brother replies if yeomieul continues to cause trouble then that is not out of the question. the other advior says yeomieul has captured the hearts of buyeo ppl for so long and if they get rid of her there will be more unrest, but the brother asks what better idea does he have to ease the tension between yeomieul and the king, and the advisor is shunned speechless.
meanwhile the queen dines w/ sachuldo's oracles and cheerfully goes on about how she feels so close to mawuryeo and how she wishes she would be oracle in buyeo palace, but the youngest oracle appears disleased. yoohwa's maid mudeok informs her about the queen feasting with the sachuldo oracles and yoohwa says the queen must be trying to get mawuryeo to help prince daeso in the future.
just then yeomieul's maids tell her about the news as well, and the youngest sachuldo oracle arrives to tell yeomieul the queen told mawuryeong she wishes mawuryeong will remain at buyeo palace. yeomieul's maids say that means the queen is trying to set mawuryeong to be the new palace oracle.
sayong tells yeontabal that yeomieul has extended an invitation to see yeontabal and yeontabal asks soseono if she will go with him, and she in turn accompanies her father on the visit.
yeontabal suggests to yeomieul she should give in a bit to the king or else she will suffer. but yeomieul says it is not so easy. then yeomieul says yeontabal once told him he would sell the nation to be a merchant. yeontabal laughs saying he doesn't have such skills, and yeomieul then asks what a merchant like him is lingering in buyeo and then says she can help him accomplish his will in buyeo, and asks if he can help her too. afterwards yeontabal tells soseono it is funny that even yeomieul would reveal herself to him, but soseono says it is too dangerous to go against the king to be on yeomieul's side and it would risk his life,
but yeontabal says risking life is nothing. just then prince daeso walks by and asks to speak with them.
daeso tells yeontabal he has been interested in soseono for a long time, and even though he has not told the king or the queen about it, he wishes to marry soseono, and asks yeontabal for his approval so he can inform his parents about their marriage. yeontabal answers he is too surprised to answer it. daeso looks to soseono and asks if she will accept his proposal but soseono is speechless, stunned, and appears troubled.
next the father and daughter return home and soseono tells her father there is no place for daeso in his heart. yeontabal asks if jumong is the one in her heart and soseono looks at her father saying nothing.
yeontabal comments he will not make her do anything but since it affects her life she should consider the option carefully. wootae catches up to soseono who is deep in thought on the balcony, and wootae tells soseono his job is to protect all that is precious at their base, and soseono is the most precious thing.
soseono smiles and tells wootae prince daeso has proposed to her. wootae replies her choice will affect the future of their business so he understands how troubled she must be, but he wishes her to be happy as a woman above all else, that altough the fate of their merchant group is important, her fate is equally important.
soseono goes by jumong's room at night and watches through the window sillehoute how jumong is studying. soseono asks to come in and jumong invites her inside. soseono asks what jumong's reading this late at night and jumong says he's been studying about sword making. soseono asks if what he's doing has to do with the crown prince competition, and soseono says this matter is something the blacksmiths have yet to figure out after decades and it is mission impossible, but jumong replies he's just trying to help even if it's not much.
soseono tells jumong prince daeso has proposed marriage to her, and even though her heart is already set, she wonders what would happen to her merchant group if she is to reject daeso.
soseono asks jumong if he will grab onto her so that her heart doesn't waver. jumong replies he already said to her that he will put all his fate into her hands. jumong then tells soseono his master once told him how he regreted not being able to protect the woman he treasured. jumong states he will surely protect what is his, and at this soseono is brought into tears.
at the weapon factory in buyeo palace, mopalmo's assistant creates more swords that are promising. just then wootae arrives to see jumong. ohyi suddenly gets up and runs off, and mari tells hyeopbo something's up with ohyi as he is not acting like himself. wootae tells jumong dochi never sold buyoung to a slave merchant, and dochi must be scheming something else. jumong catches up to dochi's man at night and demands where buyoung is. dochi's man answers she's been sold into han slavery, but jumong beats him until he will tell the truth. dochi's man begs jumong to spare his life and a fight breaks through between jumong and dochi's men, but jumong finally gets the upper hand and saves the frightened buyoung.
jumong tells dochi's beaten man that he will take buyoung away and to tell dochi to come look for him if he wants money for buyoung.
the trio return to the base at nght when gyepil tells them jumong is looking for them. the trio see that jumong has saved buyoung, and mari asks jumong how he saved buyoung but jumong says dochi was lying about selling buyoung, then jumong tells ohyi he kept his promise with him. ohyi is solemn and tells jumong he will leave the prince now for he has betrayed him by telling prince youngpo about what jumong and mopalmo are planning. mari and hyeopbo scold ohyi saying how he can do that, and ohyi begins crying.
jumong kneels before ohyi, and says the one who should beg for forgiveness is he, for he did nothing when ohyi was trying so hard, and he is not good enough to be their brother. jumong begs ohyi not to leave, and the trio get down on their knees as well, calling him their prince....
dochi finds out about buyoung's escape and is about to kill his man when he realizes he needs to worry about the princes, then dochi warns his man not to tell daeso and youngpo about what happened with buyoung. dochi's man asks dochi what will happen to ohyi now, and dochi says not to worry over ohyi since he will be rid of by jumong when he finds out about his betrayal.
next, jumong watches from distance, when ohyi, under pretence, goes to tell prince daeso and youngpo jumong has discovered an important matter in finding the secret formula for sword making..... _________________

jumong 21 summary
ohyi tells prince youngpo and daeso that jumong's found an important link to finding secret formula at the iron factory. ohyi returns to jumong who says he did a great job. ohyi states they will probably continue to believe him for a while, but jumong says youngpo might but daeso will catch on soon.
daeso's assistant naro suggests to daeso they bring the guy from weapon factory again to verify ohyi's words. the man responds mopalmo seems to have found something but has not revealed it to them yet.
daeso dismisses the guy and youngpo has a hard time sitting still wondering if jumong really found the secret formula.
meanwhile the trio vow their loyalty to jumong, after seeing how heroic he is. just then buyoung arrives.
jumong tells buyoung he's found a home for her and her siblings, and ohyi will protect them so she needn't worry. buyoung asks jumong to keep her near him so she can serve him instead,
but jumong says it'll be dangerous with dochi probably looking for her in town.
mari urges buyoung to listen to the prince, and jumong tells buyoung he seems to bring bad omen to her
and their relationship must be ill-fated, thus she should stop wasting her energy on him, but buyoung says not to say such thing. later, ohyi escorts buyoung to her new place, but dochi's man spots them and follows them.
yeontabal asks soseono if she's decided on the matter, and soseono says she will declien daeso's proposal.
yeonchaeryeong expresses worry saying daeso will not take her rejection easily, but soseono tells her aunt she will make decisions for her own life and leaves. afterwards yeonchaeryeong tells her brother daeso with his great pride will not let the matter go easily, and this might bring danger to their group. yeontabals says there's nothing he can do and yeonchaeryeong asks if he believes jumong will win the crown prince competition, and yeontabal answers no one knows what geumwa king is thinking.
the king orders his subject to find jumong at yeontabal's and bring him to the palace. next youngpo tells daeso the king has asked to see them, as well as jumong, and daeso wonders what's happeneing.
youngpo wonders if the king will crown jumong after jumong successfuly finding secret formula for curing iron. the queen is also worried about the meeting since yoohwa is also ordered to attend.
finally the king arrives and tells his family not to get nervous since he just wanted to see their faces. king asks if daeso has heard about the war between seonam and han, and daeso answers yes. the king then tells youngpo he must be on guard about it since they may have to dispatch their army anytime.
next the king asks jumong about how the work at yeontabal's is going and jumong answers fine. the king smiles and expresses his content at his sons. the king wonders if he's talking too seriously and the queen says it must be because of all the crisis they've had, and suggests to the king he should go hunting with the princes. youngpo tells the king he will catch a tiger and give him tiger blood while daeso frowns at youngpo's words (lol) and at this the king laughs asking if he has the skill to hunt a tiger. the king then says they should hold a contest among the princes to see who is superior in physical strengths.
later, yoohwa tells jumong the king wants to show everyone how much jumong has improved thus he must not let the king down. sayong and soseono hear about it and sayong asks soseono if she will make a bet with her to see who wins, with her betting on jumong, and sayong on daeso.
youngpo practices with naro and daeso arrives and tells youngpo to move, then starts to fight with naro defeating naro. naro says he can't win against daeso, and daeso orders both naro and younpo to fight against him then. youngpo comments that'll be too hard for daeso but daeso tells him stop talking and follow his order at once. daeso begins fighting both and starts to gain upperhand right away. budeukbul and the head general watch and approach daeso. next budeukbul tells daeso the entire buyeo now knows how great daeso is. daeso asks budeukbul how he compares to king geumwa when he was his age, and budeukbul says daeso might be better and daeso laughs.
meanwhile jumong practices swordsory and remembers the teachings of haemosu who urged him to be one with the weapon... with this teaching jumong focuses on his practice, when the trio arrive and mari suggests jumong practice with ohyi instead of practing in the air by himself. next jumong and ohyi practice... then soseono and wootae arrive and watch the men practice, with soseono smiling at what she sees.
at the buyeo palace iron weapon factory, musong watches mopalmo hammer down a sword to make it strong and next day they present the sword to jumong as a present to use during the contest.
mopalmo leaves but runs into yeonchaeryeong who apologizes for her behavior previously and offers to buy him wine next time. gyepil watches and tells mopalmo it is a rare occassion that she would be so nice to someone. musong comments that means yeonchaeryeog has good feelings for mopalmo, but mopalmo says just because he's single doesn't mean he has no taste in women and leaves ahead.
wootae delivers a letter to sosoeno from prince daeso, and wootae asks what it is. soseono says its an invitation to attend the contest tomorrow. next day daeso runs into the arriving sosoeno with her father and sayong, wootae, and daeso says he's happy she came. soseono urges him to be careful during the match.
meanwhile youngpo tells jumong he's not gonna go easy on him just because the king's there and warns jumong to try his best to avoid getting hurt. jumong replies he will learn something from younpo today and youngpo laughs.
during the contest, the first event is archiliary. daeso is first and shoots 4 bullseye in a row
next, youngpo gets 3 good target and 1 miss. when it's jumong's turn he blindfolds himself and shoots 8 perfect bullseye. king geumwa sees haemosu in jumong's skills and is stunned. desparate, budeukbul remembers yeomieul tellling him about jumong being haemosu's son and sees that blood does not lie
next it is fist-fight contest and the winner between jumong and youngpo will go up against daeso in sword fight. jumong beats youngpo who lays flat on the ground with blackeye after a few exchanges.
after a break jumong will meet with daeso. during the break daeso scoffs youngpo, but the queen says it is not that youngpo is bad, rather jumong is skillful, thus daeso must not think of it lightly.
meanwhile soseono finds jumong and tells him how surprised she was, even though she's seen him practice she did not know how great his skills really were. jumong replies his skills are nothing compared to his master. soseono asks if he means the general haemosu and jumong nods. soseono then says should jumong win today he (haemosu) will be happy too.
daeoso and jumong meet for sword fight and after many exchanges and many ties, the king orders a halt saying they should stop since it seems it will not be easily determined who will win.
the king orders his subject to reward the princes after such great display of skills. daeso begs the king to let him continue since he has yet to use all his strength, but the king says it is enough and smiles away.
next privately, the queen complains to her sons and brother that the king was protecting jumong for not allowing daeso to go all the way, and youngpo tries to comfort daeso saying he lost, but at least daeso tied with jumong. daeso yells back saying to tie with jumong is the same as losing and didn't he see how impressed everyone was at jumong.
surely the advisors meet and comment on how great jumong's skills are, with the queen's brother insisting on daeso being superior in swordsory. budeukbul meets with daeso and comforts him saying a new opportunity will come. musong and mopalmo express how elated they are at jumong's success and how embarrased daeso was.
jumong sits down with his mom and yoohwa informs jumong about the queen tryng to get mawuryeong to replace yeomieul and if that should happen it is not good for jumong. yoohwa says she is not sure if she should help yeomieul.... the queen urges her brother to hurry and replace yeomieul but the brother says it is hard to do that since yeomieul is still alive, and youngpo gets an idea in his head and sees it as an opportunity to stand out infront of the king....
daeso tells naro to go to hyeonto for a message, and at nighttime, gyepil tells soseono prince daeso has arrived. daeso asks if he's interrupted her work and ssn says no. daeso states he's come so he can have wine w/ her. outside yeontabal tells his sister to prepare superior wine set. next, daeso asks if she will pour wine for him and ssn folllows. daeso laments about the happenng, and ssn says they tied so he shouldn't be too sorrowful, but daeso says he lost indeed. daeso then says it is so easy for him to tell her all his troubles and asks if she's decided on the proposal. ssn replies she cannot accept his proposal because she already has someone else in her heart. a frantic daeso asks who and ssn says nothing,
then daeso asks if it is jumong and ssn says nothing daeso laughs chillingly that the one she likes turns out to be none other than jumong. then daeso states he cannot concede to jumong, and he will not let her be stolen.. therefore daeso tells ssn she is already his woman. ssn watches in fear.
daeso leaves and runs into jumong arriving w/ the trio in bliss. daeso gives jumong deep dirty look and leaves. mari tells jumong something must be up.
deep into the night ssn wonders what the future holds now, while back at the palace daeso drinks.. next daeso goes to see the king and tells the king jumong is the one who broke damul bow.
daeso states breaking the sacred bow is a crime punishable by death and on top of that jumong even lied saying he didn't get near shijo mountain. the king asks if that's the truth and why then daeso waited til now to reveal it. daeso is a bit caught off guard but states because of the grave matter he has been thinking it over and at last decided to tell it to the king for the safety of buyeo. the king says okay and tells daeso to leave now. afterwards daeso visits budeukbul and tells him about it, and budeukbul says daeso rushed it because they should've waited.
in hyeonto, yangjeong receives daeso's message and tells his subject daeso has asked him to give him the formula to create steel swords. yangjeong's subject says that cannot be revealed to buyeo,
but yangjeong says all daeso is not asking for strong steel like the ones from han, rather he's just asking for formula to create something that is slighty stronger than the iron swords buyeo makes.
yangjeong tells his man to go to buyeo....
meanwhile the sachuldo oracles comment what good the palace oracle is if she is useless and the young oracle soryeong asks if they're trying to exile yeomieul from the palace... naro returns from hyeonto, and tells daeso yangjeong has sent someone. daeso meets with yangjeong's man who tells daeso yangjeong will accept his request with one condition. daeso asks what and the man states yangjeong has a daughter and he wishes her to be married to daeso.
jumong says he wants to join hands with mopalmo and attempt making steel swords.
youngpo visits dochi and tells him to put together a secret warrior team together, and sends the team off telling them they will be heavily rewarded if they succeed. youngpo asks to see buyoung and dochi responds jumong took her. youngpo asks if he knows where buyoung is and gets up to go to buyoung.
dochi tries to stop youngpo saying he is much too drunk but youngpo says he will not defeat to jumong and dochi orders his man to escort the prince to buyoung at once. youngpo finds buyoung and tells her he's gonna spend the night with her and grabs her, but buyoung pushes him away and youngpo slaps her. next, mari and hyeopbo inform jumong about buyoung and the three run to buyoung's place. ohyi tells jumong buyoung has been kidnapped, and jumong asks who did this.

jumong and the trio are wondering why dochi has kidnapped buyeong, and jumong tells them not to act brash until they know buyeong is fine. meanwhil dochi visits buyeong and tells the tied-up buyeong he has no choice because of prince yeongpo's order. buyeong threatens she will kill herself if they plan to use her to cause harm to the prince, but dochi comments it is not so easy to kill oneself.
masked intruders arrive at yeomieul's chambers inside the palace, and begin attacking. yeomieul's guard fights off the attackers while yeomieul can flee. afterwards budeukbul tells king about the attack that happened. the queen learns of the attack too and becomes frantic. musong tells jumong about it and tells him to go to the palace since the king is looking for him. jumong stops by yoohwa's room, and yoohwa advises him to be cautious since the queen and her sons are capable of anything. jumong states he will protect his own life and she needn't worry.
the king asks his head general about yeomieul's whereabouts and he replies she has not been found yet.
the king then asks who the attackers are and budeukbul states they have not found that out either.
the king is angered and wonders how the palace security could be so loose and orders his subjects to find yeomieul at once.
the queen meets with the sachuldo oracles and mawuryeong worries others would misunderstand her through the incident, but the queen replies no one knows about their conversations so she needn't worry.
the queen suddenly remembers yeongpo's strange behavior earlier..
meanwhile yeongpo calms himself down saying they just need to wait for yeomieul's confirmed death and the king will realize his value.
yeontabal's group hears about the attackers in palace as well, and yeontabal states it was not geumwa, and soseono states it could not be daeso either. soseono asks her father if he will help yeomieul since she asked him to help. yeontabal asks for sayong's advice and sayong replies building alliance with the revered yeomieul is not a bad thing for their group gyero. yeontabal agrees and states that's the reason why he will join hands with yeomieul.
soseono runs into jumong who is returning from the palace. soseono asks if yeomieul has been found and jumong states not yet. soseono then wonders how the incident will affect the crown prince competition.
jumong replies yeomieul was against him becoming crown prince, and soseono states in that case what happened is good for him, but jumong replies if yeomieul is gone, then the replacement oracle would be in the queen and daeso's control, so either way he will not gain favor. soseono sighs and teasingly states that's why she must help him, and jumong laughs...
the queen tells daeso she's worried that yeongpo was involved in the attackers. when yeongpo arrives the queen begs him to tell them the truth since they are his mother and brother, and yeongpo confesses he was the one who sent the attackers. the queen is appalled and daeso punches yeongpo in the face in anger. yeongpo argues he wanted the king's recognition too, and what he did is a good thing for them all. daeso yells back saying how he could make a foolish thing without thinking about the consequences.
the queen stops the arguing and says what's done is already done, and hopes for the best so that it can truly be an opportunity to get rid of yeomieul. after the queen leaves, yeongpo tells daeso he is not as pathetic as he thinks, and he will realize his contribution in no time. daeso cynically states he will surely see his contribution and orders yeongpo to leave. afterwards daeso asks naro what they should do.
daeso says since what's done is already done they should follow through with it. next daeso orders naro to find yeomieul and kill her if she's still alive.
budeukbul tells the king the citizens of buyeo are frantic at the news of yeomieul's attack and disappearance and he must return the peace . the king asks budeukbul how and budeukbul replies first they have to find yeomieul and when she returns the king should mend his relationship with her.
jumong and the trio are wondering about buyeong again, and jumong states dochi would not kidnap buyeong alone, and he must have followed yeongpo's order and in that case the matter is not easily solved thus they need to be cautious. the trio asks if the rumors about yeomieul's murder is true and jumong replies though it is true that there were attackers it is unknown where yeomieul is.
the queen asks mawuryeong to use her powers to find out if yeomieul is still alive or not, but mawuryeong replies her skills are not strong enough to decipher that. the youngest of the sachuldo oracle, soryeong, visits the star child who determines yeomieul is still alive. soryeong then tells the star child not to reveal this to anyone else. next, yeomieul is weeping in an unknown location. the king tells his man he will go outside the palace for a visit. durinng his visit around town the disguised king overhears men saying geumwa is the one who killed yeomieul. geumwa returns to the palace and confides in yoohwa that the anger he showed yeomieul was actually anger directed toward himself for he cannot forgive himself for not helping haemosu, and geumwa states yeomieul must know that.
yangjeong's man meets with daeso, and daeso asks for more time since he cannot make decision about his marriage alone and the matter will surely need time to persuade the king and others.
mopalmo is waiting for yeontabal to return at the merchant camp, and while he waits, yeonchaeryeong brings tea to mopalmo and asks if he's single and that she is a lonely woman too. mopalmo asks why she's telling him this, when yeontabal arrives. next, yeontabal tells mopalmo he wants to help jumong find a way to build strong swords too and since it is difficult to do this in the palace under watchful eyes mopalmo should feel comfortable to work on the formula at the camp.
jumong watches as a woman delivers a message to the camp, and jumong recognizes her.
next sayong delivers message to yeontabal and ytb then summons wootae to go somewhere.
jumong asks the leaving yeontabal is he's on his way to see yeomieul and yeontabal surprisingly asks how he knows. jumong replies he saw the woman who is one of the oracle's maids from the palace delivering the message. then jumong goes with them to see yeomieul. but yeomieul's hideout is found out by naro and his men, all masked and they began attacking yeomieul's guards. yeontabal and jumong arrive in time to save yeomieul and naro flees.
jumong tells yeomieul it is true that he was the one who broke the damul bow like she said, but asks yeomieul how is that he will bring darkness to buyeo when he's trying his best to contribute to buyeo.
yeomieul replies it is already set by the heavens. she then kneels before him and says she has caused a grave sin against him. jumong asks what and she replies she will tell him when it is time to do so.
next yeomieul tells yeontabal she plans to return to the palace, but she wants to know if he will lend her a hand in the future. yeontabal states his nation gyero and he will help her.
naro returns and tells daeso yeontabal and jumong were protecting yeomieul.... .
just then yeongpo runs to tell daeso yeomieul has returned to the palace, and yeomieul arrives passing the brothers.
yeomieul sees the king and asks him to clear the room. privately, the king apologizes to yeomieul for his treatment of her. yeomieul comments she still stands behind her decisions and believes she served buyeo right. she then says she could've killed haemosu 20 years earlier but she kept him alive to let him live out the rest of his his destined life. king geumwa states throwing him in the cave prison is not protecting him, but yeomieul replies the king would not have saved him, and states even today, the king did nothing for haemosu even after knowing daeso and yeongpo killed him. yeomieul states he was the one who wanted haemosu dead because he wanted yoohwa. the king is very angry, and draws sword and says he will kill her if she says another word. yeomieul urges him to go right ahead, but he is unable to slash her.
daeso scoffs yeongpo again, while budeukbul visits yeomieul, apologizing for what's happened and vowing to protect her better. but yeomieul replies she will leave the palace, and budeukbul sees the king afterwards and urges geumwa not to let yeomieul go, however the king says it is too late for that.
a jittery yeongpo tells the news of yeomieul leaving to his mother, brother, and uncle, and yeongpo laughs saying this is all his great deed. yeongpo arrives at dochi's and tells him he will grant a wish of his. dochi asks if something good happened and yeongpo replies indeed so and the only thing left is to get rid of jumong. dochi brings yeongpo to buyeong's hideout and discovers buyeong passed out from her attempt to commit suicide. they rush her to doctor's care and her life is spared.
dochi asks yeongpo what he plans to do with buyeong and yeongpo says he will find out...
yangjeong's man returns to hyeonto and replies daeso has asked for time. yeongpo is satisfied that daeso has not declined the request. yeomieul meets with soryeong and star child, and tells them about her leaving, and asks them to stay behind at buyeo palace for a while until things are settled.
next yeomieul visits yoohwa and tells her a long time ago she saw a 3 legged bird blocking buyeo's future, and that bird was haemosu, but the bird still remains in buyeo even after haemosu's death.
yeomieul tells yoohwa she must take care of that bird since it is still weak. yoohwa is stunned in her revelation. yeomieul then states she has been forsaken by buyeo and now she will serve the 3-legged bird.
meanwhile jumong is anxious about what yeomieul said to him. but at the palace, geumwa watches as yeomieul leaves and geumwa feels unsettled. the queen's maid tells her yeomieul is on her way out and the queen happily states it is time to gather the oracles to make mawuryeong the palace oracle.
afterwards daeso and the queen visits mawuryeong to congratuate her and mawuryeong vows to help the two crown daeso the future throne.
yeontabal offers to escort yeomieul to his nation, gyero but yeomieul states it is not time yet and before she leaves she must meet someone first. next, jumong comes to meet with yeomieul and she says she must tell him about the sin aginst him, and beg for his forgiveness before she leaves buyeo.
yeomieul tells jumong even though he and geumwa have lived like father and son, jumong's real father is general haemosu.

jumong 23 Summary:
yeomieul tells jumong haemosu is jumong's biological father. jumong is shocked and yeomieul explains how back then she and budeukbul believed haemosu was a threat to buyeo and thus they handed him over the the han army and that was when he lost his eyes. and when the presumed dead haemosu showed up again she locked him up in the prison for 20 years. yeomieul explains she did this to follow the heaven's will.
yeomieul then says it was not an accident that jumong met haemosu afterall. she kneels and states this is what she meant when she said she gravely sinned against him. she says she will accept it if he wants to kill her. jumong gasps for air as he is without speech and full of shock. next, jumong looks out the cliff and remembers haemosu saying even though he said he didn't know why he was kept imprisoned but the truth is he is punishing himself for failing to protect the one woman he loved. jumong cries and remembers more time spent with haemosu thinking him as his master, and how haemosu said jumong's mother must be a bright and graceful woman whom jumong must protect... jumong cries more and yells out 'father' in the air...
meanwhile in the palace yeongpo tells daeso he plans to get rid of jumong next, now that yeomieul has been taken care of. daeso gets nervous and asks what he plans to do as the matter of jumong is very serious. yeongpo smiles and says daeso needn't get involved in the dirty work and yeongpo will take care of everything so daeso can just focus on his inheriting the throne. jumong returns to the palace and watches yeongpo and daeso pass by, remember how they murdered haemosu. next jumong arrives at yoohwa's and she comments he looks pale, and asks if something's happened. jumong asks yoohwa how she and geumwa met, and yoohwa answers just like she told him before the king saved her when her villagers were slaughtered. jumong then asks why habaek village was slaughtered by the han's army, and yoohwa pauses then says she will tell him about that another time. jumong then asks if she loved anyone else before geumwa and yoohwa asks why he would ask such thing and if soseono whom jumong likes is interested in another man.
next jumong visits the king and they two share wine. the king appears happy by the visit and compliments him on his great strength during the match. jumong answers he was named 'jumong' by his mother because of his father's swordsory skills. jumong studies geumwa and remembers yeomieul telling him not to hate king geumwa for not punishing daeso or yeongpo for killing haemosu, for geumwa was helpless before his own blood. the king tells jumong he should come back to the palace soon, and jumong nods and gets up to leave.
jumong returns to yeontabal's camp and gets a message from dochi. they meet and jumong asks what dochi wants but yeongpo arrives and says the condition is simple. all he wants is that jumong gives up the crown prince seat, and for that he will let buyeong go. jumong appears furious but says nothing. yeongpo further states the crown prince title should've never been a possibility for jumong in the first place, thus jumong should withdraw from the competition at once if he wants to see buyeong walk free.
the trio tell jumong he cannot withdraw from the competition and buyeong wouldn't want that for him either.
dochi goes to see buyeong who is tied up and gaged. dochi tells buyeong yeongpo told jumong to give up the crown prince competition in order to save her. buyeong reacts strongly but dochi slaps her down and leaves, telling his men to watch her closely.
next day in the palace, jumong tells yeongpo he will do as he wants, and that he will go see the king now so he should let buyeong go. yeongpo is happy and warns him not to say anything different before the king since buyeong is still in his control. next jumong arrives before the king and asks for the king to approve his withdrawal from the crown prince competition. the king asks why and jumong replies he should not have entered the competition in the first place, since that title belongs to the oldest prince. the king asks if he has any other reason, and jumong says no, and the king states jumong should remain but jumong asks for approval again and the king asks if he's sure that he will not regret the decision. jumong replies he will not regret and the king states he's disappointed at his decision after seeing jumong's abilities thus far. the queen's brother informs the queen that jumong is out of the competition. the queen asks if this is true and yeongpo smiles saying he's not the fool everyone thinks of him and what he did is something even daeso wouldnt' be able to accomplish.
lady yoohwa hears of the news and wonders what the reason is. next, jumong and the king meet privately and the king asks if daeso and yeongpo have threatened him, but jumong states it's nothing like that. the king is angry and says he believed in him but he has disappointed him once again.
jumong leaves and runs into yoohwa outside who asks what's going on. jumong asks yoohwa to tell him about the reason why habaek was destroyed and what it is that he must accomplish here.
yoohwa senses what's going on and calls out jumong's name. next, jumong asks yoohwa if haemosu is really his father, and yoohwa asks how he found out. jumong then asks why she didn't tell him this earlier. yoohwa apologizes and weeps... jumong weeps too and asks what he is to do when he sent his own father to such darkness without doing anything for him, and how his father was locked up in such prison while he was growing up in carelessness. they part and yoohwa weeps in her room. jumong drinks alone in town and remembers the words of yoohwa, who told him how she met haemosu without knowing who he was and how for hiding him who was targeted by the hans her father and the habaek ppl were slaughtered. but before she even met haemosu she had heard of this hero of gojoseon and later she vowed to be with him to help raise their cause against the hans.. but after haemosu was presumed dead and she gave birth to jumong she brought him to the buyeo's palace. yoohwa says she raised jumong to avenge buyeo and han who killed haemosu. but it was later that she learned haemosu was kept alive in the prison all those years, something she had not imagined even in her dreams. meanwhile yoohwa also remembers jumong's promise to her, that he will undo her regret.. and to serve her in his father's place... with this yoohwa weeps more.
sayong tells soseono and yeontabal about jumong's withdrawal from the crown prince competition and soseono goes to see the trio to confirm it. soseono asks them why jumong did such a thing and they tell her it was to save buyeong. soseono is shocked and asks buyeong was really treasured so much by jumong that he would give up the throne for. mari answers it is true that jumong thinks special of buyeong but no one knows for sure what jumong's thinking and she should go find out herself. soseono turns and leaves, in disbelief...
buyeong is let go and asks the trio if it's true the jumong gave up the crown prince competition. buyeong weeps and says it's all her fault and she should've just died. ohyi yells and asks why she should die. soseono watches from distance what's happening. meanwhile in the palace daeso asks yeongpo what he did and yeongpo answers jumong gave up the competition to save buyeong whom jumong liked since the days when she was still in the palace. daeso doesn't believe jumong would give up the throne just for a girl and goes to see budeukbul who urges him he must cease the opportunity to grasp the crown title at once. daeso says he's trying to find the formula to build stronger swords to please the king. budeukbul asks if he's got any plans and daeso replies he asked yangjeong for help and yangjeong will agree to help if daeso will marry yangjeong's daugther.
mopalmo learns about jumong's withdrawal too and wonders what's going on. just then yeongpo arrives and tells him he heard that mopalmo found out the secret way to create steel out of iron and demands to fess up everything. mopalmo says he did no such thing and yeongpo asks if he wants to die...
next, yoohwa's summoned by the king, who asks her why jumong has given up on the competition out of a sudden. yoohwa answers she had not heard of any reason either and she's been disappointed. the king states he wanted to give the throne to the one with highest skills and he was happy at jumong's improvements which he showed, but he didn't imagine jumong would disappoint him this much. yoohwa apologizes for jumong...
the oracles meet again and are worried that the buyeo ppl are not awknowledging mawuryeong as their new palace oracle. some of the oracles state they have to erase yeomieul from the ppl's hearts at once, but the young oracle soryeong states they cannot make up stuff about yeomieul. mawuryeong tells soryeong they wont' do so and says she can leave. after soryeong leaves mawuryeong says they'll deal with her when it's time. the queen arrives just then and the queen presents a gift box of jewelry to mawuryeong as a small token of her sincerity.
yeonchaeryeong tells everyone it is no longer advantageous for them to keep jumong around in their group, but yeontabal states he wants to keep him around for a while to see what happens and since he's the one soseono likes. wootae cringes when yeontabal mentions about soseono liking jumong. just then jumong returns to the courtyard after some time to soul search alone. buyeong calls out to jumong, and begs for him to change his mind about the competition at once. jumong tells buyeong to be happy now, and that he did not withdraw from the competition because of her, but he did it since there was no reason for him to remain in the competition.
next ohyi proposes marriage to buyeong, saying he cannot leave her as is anymore, and he wants to protect her and her siblings now. mari and hyeopbo appear and urges buyeong to accept ohyi's proposal since ohyi only had eyes for her all this time and he will make her happy. yeonchaeryeong tells soseono jumong has returned and says she should go ask him why he quit the competition, but soseono says she's not curious since he must had his reason. later, a confused soseono wanders around the camp alone.... soseono stops before jumong's room and watches his silouhette again, through the paper framed window, while jumong rethinks about the words of yeomieul who said geumwa is helpless before his own blood thus he did nothing when he found out daeso and yeongpo killed haemosu.
after watching jumong's shadow, soseono turns and leaves...
jumong meets with musong and mopalmo with the trio present and they urge him to forget about the withdraw and get back in the competition. just then a message from buyeong arrives in which buyeong writes she is on her way leaving buyeo with her siblings and it was a mistake of hers to keep him in her heart, and asks jumong to deliver her apology toward the trio for not bidding farewell, and that until the day she dies she will wish for prince jumong's wellbeing. jumong hands the message to mari who tells everyone buyeong has taken her siblings to leave buyeo. ohyi runs out calling out buyeong's name hoping to find her but buyeong has already gone too far to be found.
next, jumong goes to see soseono and she asks why he's here. jumong states he has something to tell her. soseono says if he's here to explain about quitting the prince competition to save buyeong then he shouldn't have to since saving lives is something anyone should do. jumong tells soseno he's leaving buyeo for a while. soseono asks why and jumong replies he can't seem to answer that right now.
but jumong takes out the ring from yoohwa, and says to soseono, 'though i leave now, i will leave my heart with you my lady. ' and with these words soseno is touched and takes the ring from jumong's hand.

the king's advisors meet and comment daeso will soon be crowned. the queen's uncle and the queen congrats daeso but yeongpo gets upset. yeongpo insists the king has yet to announce the winner and why has everyone forgotten about his contribution. just then daeso arrives and says he is right and they should continue their competition.
meanwhile soseono looks at the ring from jumong and remembers jumong telling her how he is in a state of confusion and he must come out of without anyone's help. afterwards, soseono vows to spend her life with him. jumong meets with yeontabal and asks to hear about haemosu's story. yeontabal and gyepil reveal to jumong habaek village was destroyed for protecting haemosu, and yeontabal comments he almost sold haemosu to the han soldier who were offering a handsome reward for haemosu's capture, but haemosu saved yeontabal's wife and newborn soseono, thus he became their savior.
mari and hyeopbo try to comfort ohyi who is sorrowful of buyeong's departure. jumong arrives and asks ohyi for a drink. ohyi pours wine for him and apologizes to jumong for having to quit the crown prince competition because of him and buyeong. jumong instead apologizes for not protecting buyeong, but ohyi apologizes saying it's all his fault. mari scoffs ohyi and tells him to forget about buyeong for now for she would not want them to be upset because of her. jumong tells the trio he wants them to go somewhere with him. next, jumong sends a message to lady yoohwa telling her he is leaving buyeo to find the path of understanding his father... to understand why and how he chose the road he traveled then.
after leaving buyeo, jumong tells the trio he wants to find out more about the damul warriors of gojoseon era. hyeopbo remembers a friend of his late father's who was also a damul warrior, and wonders if the friend is still alive... meanwhile back in buyeo palace king geumwa has a nightmare seeing haemosu falling off the cliff shot by multiple arrows. geumwa remembers yeomieul's accusation that geumwa is the one who really wanted haemosu dead. yoohwa is having trouble falling asleep worried about jumong, and just then the king arrives. geumwa asks yoohwa why she isn't asleep and the king then asks if jumong's quitting prince competition is because of haemosu. when yoohwa says nothing the king asks why she didn't tell him sooner that jumong found out the truth saying jumong must be having a very difficult time. geumwa says he must meet jumong, and yoohwa replies jumong has left buyeo for a while to figure things out.
after geumwa leaves yoohwa remembers the king's words wondering how jumong will think of him now and just as jumong must be confused, geumwa is also troubled.
yeongpo arrives at dochi's and sees dochi beat up and when he finds out it was the trio yeongpo wants to go find them but dochi's man says jumong and the trio have left buyeo. yeongpo returns to the palace and relates the news of jumong to daeso. daeso is suspicious about why jumong quit the competition and left buyeo, but yeongpo says let's not dismiss his contribution. at court meeting the advisors urge geumwa to end the competition soon but geumwa says he will continue the competition. afterwards budeukbul comforts daeso but daeso says he doesn't want to be named crown prince so easily after jumong's departure and he will work on developing steel like the king would want. budeukbul asks daeso if he plans to accept yangjeong's offer and daeso says he will persuade the king to let him.
yeongpo feels desperate and invites 2 of the king's ministers to his chamber saying he's been thankful to them for a long time. yeongpo presents them with bribery and says he will surely recognize their contributions if he should be the next heir to throne.
meanwhile sayong stares at soseono relentlessly and soseono says if he's wondering about jumong. sayong wonders if soseono knows why jumong quit the competition and left buyeo and soseono says she's not worried even though he's not told her either since she belives he will tell her when the time is right.
sayong says he knows she's curious too and soseono confesses she is very curious too but she's more worried that something big happened to jumong. sayong then notices soseono's ring and comments that was not seen before. next wootae arrive and says cheolgan of han is headed toward hyeonto city.
just then daeso's man naro arrives to ask soseono to go see daeso with him.
daeso asks soseono if she knows the story of yeobuwui who helped jacho escaping toward jo nation from jin nation and how yeobuwui helped jacho return to jin and become a king. soseono replies she knows the story, and daeso says what yeobuwui did was make an investment in jacho and benefit from it.
daeso tells soseono the crown prince shall be him and not jumong and she should consider what the means to her future. daeso says soseono is the only one in his heart and says he hopes the day comes that she too will have him in her heart.
jumong and the trio pass by a well with bloody water in it and the woman says the well water has been turned to blood water after yeomieul gave up on buyeo. next they arrive at the place where hyeopbo's father's friend lives and jumong asks the man about damul warrior and the general haemosu.
the friend invites the guests in his hut and presents them memorabilia from damul days giving a pendant to hyeopbo that belonged to hyeopbo's father, and laments how he couldn't retell all the the heroic deeds the damul warriors did.. and states if haemosu were still alive all the refugees of gojoseon would've been saved. since haemosu believes that wherever a refugee remains the country still remains. afterwards jumong says he must see gojoseon remnants with his own eyes. mari says that will be dangerous if the han steel warriors are still around.
back in the palace the new oracle, mawuryeong breaks out in sweat after praying. the other oracles arrive and report to mawuryeong about all that's happening around buyeo like blood in wells and sounds of cries at night. soryeong comments this is all because of what happened with yeomieul and the other oracle tells her to forget about the past. mawuryeong goes to see the queen who suggest she should go visit the king.
mawuryeong visits king geumwa during court meeting, and tells the king about what's happening in buyeo, and the king wonders if these are rumors and the queen's brother reports to the king the same happened in gaemak nation when they had trouble with the gods. the advisor suggest to the king he should find out if these are true facts at once and if so they must have a spiritual ceremony at once. just then the king's head general arrives with news that cheolgan of han nation are headed toward hyeonto city.
budeukbul wonders if hyeonto is gearing up against buyeo and the king goes to the iron factory next to see if there's been any progress in curing iron. daeso decides to make a trip to hyeonto and yeongpo wonders what daeso is up to. yeontabal also decides to make a trip to hyeonto with soseono, wootae, gyepil and sayong.
meanwhile jumong and the trio are looking for gojoseon refugees and while they rest they realize they have followers. the foursome prepare to fight when the hiding men appear with humble weapons saying they will fight to death instead of becoming slaves. jumong orders the trio to put their weapons down for they are not here to harm them. thus the men take the foresome to their hideout. jumong watches in sadness the women and children of the remnants living in dire conditions. the head of the men says he used to be damul warrior, and jumong tells them they are not here to harm them. hyeopbo shows him his pendant from his father as proof and the man tells them they have been in hiding for 15 years, and he has lost his wife and daughter 2 years into their hideout. the man continues to relate the hardship they have endured and jumong suggests they should flee to buyeo for geumwa will help them, but they say geumwa has forsaken them after haemosu's fall and they waited and waited for geumwa to help but it never happened.
jumong says he wants to help but the men tell them to just leave. jumong then says they should at least take their horses since they will aid them in case something happens.
yeontabal and the group arrive at hyeonto and yeontabal decides to pay yangjeong a visit. daeso arrives at yangjeong's court and tells yangjeong he needs steel weapon in order to become a crown prince, and after he becomes crown prince he will make yangjeong's daughter the crown princess.
meanwhile jumong and the trio witness gojoseon remnants attacked and captured by steel army men from han and the foresome try to save the refugees but their arrow cannot penetrate the steel armor and their swords are weak in comparison to the han men's swords......

Jumong Ep. 25 Summary
jumong and the trio run from han steel army when they realize they can't defeat them with their weak weapons. (lol how did they get away on foot while the steel men were on horse? ) instead jumong says they will come back at night to save the gojoseon refugees. the trio shoot only at the men's uncovered faces and successfully saves the refugees, while jumong stops the guarding army men on horse with arrows pointed at their face and other parts not covered by steel.
the news of refugees escaping reach yangjeong at hyeonto who says they must not let the arriving cheolgan hear about it. the cheolgan arrives and yangjeong tells him prince daeso from buyeo is here to make a deal with him in return to learn how to make steel. yangjeong meets with daeso next and tells him he will send a steel expert to buyeo. next yangjeong's daughter yang seol-ran brings tea to them and he introduces her to daeso. when yang seol-ran and daeso talk privately she said even though it was what her father wanted she would've said no if she didn't like him when they met but now she knows he is handsome with impressive aura. (wow i like her acting. she's a great cast like someone said)
afterwards naro asks daeso if he will really marry yangjeong's daughter when soseono exists, but daeso says he's about to become a crown prince and no one will complain if he has multiple wives, and marrying yangjeong' daughter is not a big deal, but the problem is soseono not accepting him. meanwhile yangjeong agrees to see yeontabal and yeontabal's men ask him what exactly he plans to do with yangjeong and yeontabal says he wants to buy a deal. gyepil says that would cost a lot of money but yeontabal says a real merchant buys such and tells everyone to wait and see.
back at buyeo mawuryeong oracle tells the queen the matter of yeomieul is causing unsettled state among buyeo people and the queen should get to the bottom of it. the queen tells her maid to go fetch the storyteller who used to tell stories about haemosu from before and her maid returns to tell her the storyteller was killed by the king's order. the queen then goes to see the king and tells him a while ago a storyteller used to tell stories about how yoohwa and the king's child is actually haemosu's not the kings.
the king gets angry and tells the queen jumong is his son and he will not forgive anyone who says otherwise. the queen leaves but smiles about geumwa's reaction...
the young oracle soryeong brings star child to yoohwa. the star child tells yoohwa prince jumong must leave buyeo. yoohwa says he's left buyeo for a while. but the child tells yoohwa jumong must leave buyeo forever or else he will die. yoohwa is scared by the fortelling. meanwhile jumong and the trio are helpnig the refugees flee from han army radar and they split up with hyeopbo escorting the refugees while the others look out for the steel army. yeontabal meets with yangjeong and asks yangjeong if he could help him meet sanongseung (cheolgan) who manages han's steels, saying it would be the greatest honor to him and yangjeong says he will try.
while they wait for yeontabal to finish his meeting, soseono and sayong watch as yang seol-ran passes by and the two women exchange glance. wootae appears and tells soseono prnice daeso is here at hyeonto. yeontabal comes out and tells his group yangjeong has agreed to help him during the meeting with han's cheolgan yeontabal asks to buy steel weapon from han and both the cheolgan and yangjeong are angry at such offer. the cheolgan leaves and yeontabal persuades yangjeong it is beneficial to han to deal with him, since han is short on funds due to the war with seonam thus by selling him weapons it will guarantee handsome income and it will also create buyeo's dependency on han. yangjeong finds sense in yeontabal's explanation and says he will talk to cheolgan but he will not tolerate any surprises such as this in the future.
next soseono wonders if han will sell them steel weapons and yeontabal says they will. sayong comments selling steel weapons isn't the same as giving out secret steel formula yeontabal agrees and says they will surely find the formula through the weapons one day. but daeso's man naro sees yeontabal's group in hyeonto....
dochi finds out both yeontabal and daeso are missing in buyeo and wonders if yeontabal has gone to gyero.
next dochi goes to see yeongpo and tells him daeso has been receiving great help from yeontabal in the crown prince competition and in order to beat daeso, yeongpo should get rid of yeontabal first. yeongpo wonders how they could accomplish that since yeontabal is treasured by the king, but dochi says it's strange that yeontabal has stayed in buyeo for so long, and they should seize the opportunity while yeontabal is gone to do something. yeongpo brings army men to yeontaba's merchant group and confiscates all the scroll messages... yeongpo finds a scroll that he presents to the king and the king reads it. yeongpo says yeontabal failed to report to the king about the important matter of cheolgan's visit to hyeonto and thus yeontabal cannot be trusted. the king is angry and asks where yeontabal is when yeongpo answers he has gone to hyeonto.
meanwhile mari and ohyi use themselves as bait to lead the steel armymen to jumong, who shoots arrows at them. the army men turn and leave after seeing jumong's skills. at night, jumong finds the army men's camp and points arrow at them. at hyeonto yangjeong asks daeso what he thought of his daughter and daeso comments it will be hard to find another woman like her... just then yangjeong's man arrives and reports to yangjeong the steel men failed to recapture the refugees due to the guy who had superhuman skills in archery. daeso hears this and wonders what's happening...
jumong, mari and ohyi reunite with hyeopbo at hyeonto and jumong asks if the refugees are safe and hyeopbo says they're safe from steel army men and on their way to their new refuge. next the foursome sit down for a rest and jumong says he found out how many remnants were left from gojoseon and where they are now. the trio asks why he did all that and jumong says he's not sure. jumong then asks hyeopbo why he cried when he received the pendant and hyeopbo says he realized how great his father was and how he is so pale in comparison. jumong says he can relate, and tells them the reason why he quit the crown prince competition wasn't because of buyeong, it was because he realized there was nothing he could do as a crown prince, but now he knows what he must do.
meanwhile gyepil and sayong arrive at the inn jumong and the trio are and gyepil leads jumong to soseono.
soseono sees jumong and a surprised soseono asks what jumong is doing here.... daeso is suspicious about who the guy with superhuman archery skills is and just then naro tells daeso he saw yeontabal and soseono in hyeonto.
jumong tells soseono what he has been doing, and soseono tells jumong she's glad he's safe... and when jumong looks at soseono wearing the ring he gave her soseono pauses in silence.. jumong then asks soseono why she's here in hyeopbo and soseono says cheolgan who is in charge of han's steel is here in hyeonto and her father wants to do business with him. while they talk daeso arrives and walks toward soseono's room despite gyepil trying to stop him... soseono tells jumong daeso is here and jumong asks why daeso is here. soseono says daeso seems to have a special relationship with hyeonto's yangjeong.
jumong remembers seeing daeso at hyeonto the last time he came as the king's messenger and how daeso then warned him that was not the end. just then daeso announces to soseono he's come and opens the door to enter. daeso is beyond shock and anger when he sees jumong in soseono's room. daeso asks jumong why he's here in hyeonto and jumong replies he went there and here without planning and somehow ended up here. daeso asks soseono and jumong if they planned to meet up in hyeonto and soseono replies it was coincidence. daeso tells them to sit and daeso mocks at jumong's carefree life, and jumong asks why then a crown-prince-to-be is here at hyeonto and daeso says jumong should ditch that suspicion of his. next, daeso looks for someone who can identify jumong's face as the one who saved the refugees.
jumong bids farewell to soseono again and soseono says though he left his heart to her it cannot feel at ease and asks him to be careful.. jumong looks at her and embraces her...
mari arrives and tells jumong army men are headed toward them. soseono says there are horses in the back and they should flee on the horses. but it's too late and the foursome are met with steel army men whom they fight off and the foursome run on horses while the other army men chase them on horse as well.
soseono watches this in fear...
daeso returns to buyeo and brings with him a few steel experts. the king asks where he found them and daeso lies and says they were slaves of han whom he rescued.
daeso brings these men to mopalmo and the newly arrived men laugh at the sword there saying they are only suitable for women to use in cooking. the newly arrived man tells mopalmo they will take over the factory now and no one else is to enter. mopalmo says how will they learn about making steel swords if they can't be there and the new guy says if they don't agree they will leave. while moplamo laments his anger to musong over wine, the newly arrived men work on making new swords.
next morning the king visits the factory and checks the superior strength of the new swords himself... daeso is elated at the king's confirmation. meanwhile jumong and the trio arrive at cheomu mountain next. the trio asks why jumong came back to this place and jumong says he must tell them something before returning to buyeo, and jumong states he is a descendant of damul and his birth father is haemosu. jumong says he plans to save the gojoseon remnants living under han's torture and reclaim their lost land. jumong asks the trio if they will do this with him and they all say yes.
