k-dramas forever thank you. Now I remember, that's right. Thank you this question was really gnawing at me for months.

I'm really gonna miss this drama when it ends next Wednesday here KBFD-I. Not as good as "Yellow Hanky" but better than most daily dramas.

I cannot believe Nara at all!

After she saw Sukhyun in pain (as he was walking up to her to give her his floral bouquet for parent's day) how could she not have given in at that point????? She still wants to "win" the battle with her son???? ..... How very sad!!!

Hi Everyone!

Nara is very cruel and heartless. After watching her in action, I believe that she never wanted to be a mother in the first place. She did it because her father told her to do it. She’s upset that after all the time, effort and money she “invested” in Suk-hyun, her “returns” in her investment is very disappointing.

In my humble opinion, I personally think it’s a “biological” thing. If a woman gives birth to a child, her feelings towards that child will be different from a woman who adopts a child. It’s as though, subconsciously, the biological mother wants to do all she can to ensure that her offspring will be healthy to carry on her lineage for another generation--even if it means giving up her life. The way I see it, definitely Min-soo loves Suk-kyun more so than Nara does. If it were the other way around, where Nara is the biological mother, she would be doing everything in her power to save her son instead of punishing him for choosing Jong-nam over her.

I’m hoping that Suk-hyun will come to realize that Min-soo gave him up because she loved him very, very much. Only a mother who loves her child that much would be willing to give the child up if it means by doing so the child will live.

Nara gives motherhood a very bad name!

Sorry--not going to be able to do summary for episode 162--forgot to record it today.

However, I watched the episode on the KBS website without subs. Here's the little I could pick up.

SH tries to give Nara the basket of flowers but she refuses. She says something like "If you really think of me as your mother, have the surgery." SH still refuses. Nara tells him to do what he wants but if he doesn't have the surgery, don't contact her anymore. She drives off, looking at SH through her rear view mirror.
Meanwhile, JN is frantically looking for SH. When she is looking outside the hospital, SH sees her and calls her name. She wants to know where he went. His dad is in SH's hospital room, wants to know where he went. He tells them that he went to see mother. JN lectures him about something.

MS and JO are in MS' kitchen talking about the sugery and the misunderstanding that SH has. They talk about grandpa taking the money from Nara. JO goes to grandma's room. Grandma is upset that SH does not want to have the surgery. Discussing grandpa receiving the money. Grandma bring out the treasure pouch and JO pulls an envelope out. Tells her to open it but grandma refuses.

Nara comes home and sees the basket of flowers on her doorstep. She brings the basket in the house and puts it on the table. Reads the card that came with the basket, says I love you.

JN is in SH's room, encouraging him to get the surgery. She asks him if he is worried about MS. SH says, "Who said I was worried!"

BD comes out to the living room and sees Eubin sitting on the sofa. Eubin is talking about his father. BD goes back to his bedroom. Hears Eubin talking to dad in the living room. OD tells her ex to be quiet so as not to disturb the others. YG gives her money. She is surprised and says that this is the first time he is giving her money.

HI and KW are in their bedroom. They start having a disagreement. (Don't know if its about the money that her dad gave KW). MS overhears them arguing. Grandma hears them arguing too. Grandma opens their door and tells them to come out. They go to the living room and grandma lectures them. KW and HI both apologize to her. Grandma continues to lecture and MS intercedes saying that they apologized. Asking about money (?) they were arguing about. Grandma finds out what the issue is--not sure if its the money that HI's dad invested. That evening, grandma can't sleep, worried about KW. Sits up and looks at the treasure pouch.

OD is at the restaurant, looks at the money that YG gave her.

Co-workers in HI's office are putting up a banner in the office. HI walks in. They chant "Tae han minguk" (Cheer used at world soccer cup meaning "Republic of Korea") (Don't know what the banner said).

KW is leaving the house. He is talking on the phone apologizing to someone. Grandma looks worried.

Grandma visits JO. JO asks if she is worried about SH.Grandma says its about KW and tells JO about the fight that happened in the house last night. Talking about money and how she could help her grandsons if she had money.

SH talks to the doctor. I guess the doctor is giving his prognosis if he does not have the surgery?

Nara is at home. JM walks in. I think he is telling her something about a family meeting and encouraging her to attend but I think she refuses so he leaves.

Family are all gathered together at KW's house. (JO is there and JM comes in). JM asks where grandma is. Grandma is in her room looking at her treasure pouch. He goes to her room to tell her that they are all gathered. Grandma comes to the living room and tells everyone to sit down. Says something about grandpa telling her to open the pouch when thing were hard. Guess she decides with SH's situation and KW's problem with money, the time is right to open the envelope. She cuts open the envelope with a pair of scissors. The End

Nothing really new seems to have happened except I am curious exactly what HI and KW were fighting about. If anyone can share this information, it would be helpful.
I'll be sure to watch tonight because we are going to find out exactly what is in that pouch! I will do a summary. Sorry about missing Episode 162.

I was going to do a full summary of tonight's episode since I didn't do Friday's episode, but after watching it, I don't think this episode is worth doing. In fact, I was quite disappointed by the happenings. Here's a brief summary--

Family are all gathered around waiting in anticipation for grandma to open that mysterious spoon case. When they discover its a letter, the family seems let down and they said things like, "It's only a letter", "I knew it."
Grandma reads the letter grandpa wrote to her telling her that this is his first and last letter. He acknowledges that he didn't do anything for her being crazy about another woman when he was young and gambling when he was old. He tried to think what he could do for her for the last time. Then he mentions that he purchased some land with the money he got from JM's wife. He says he doesn't know how much its worth but that it should be enough and closes saying, "Let's meet in the next life." Then they find out that he bought 200 lots 27 years ago. They speculate how much each lot is worth. One person says, $3,000.00 per lot, JM says its probably worth about $5,000 per lot. They calculate it and figure that the total property is worty a million dollars. They are thrilled. JO goes to the hospital in such a daze she doesn't remember how she even got there. She tells SH and JN about the land. SH is surprised and asks where grandpa got the money to buy the land. JO tells him that the misunderstanding with aunt and uncle should end because they learned that grandpa bought the land secretly with the money he received from
Nara.

Most of the rest of the scenes show each of them figuring out how much they are going to get and how they would spend the money. MS tells JD that he should stop driving a cab and set up a business, KW is speculating that grandma would give him at least $200,000 for his business and starts drawing blueprints for his business. DJ is in her room looking at travel brochures making plans to visit 7 countries. Even JN is wondering how much they are going to get but she also mentions that it is great that the misunderstanding has been cleared up and says that now he can get the transplant but SH still says no. JO is talking to JM wondering if she should move her business to another spot and JM says its better to open a restaurant rather than a snack shop. They start to talk about how the money should be divided and get into an argument over it. Meanwhile grandma is obsessed with her fortune and carries that spoon holder with her whereever she goes, even when walking around in the house. In efforts to get on grandma's good side JM moves out of JO's house and goes to KW's saying that he came to spend time with grandma so she isn't so bored and that she has pains in her legs and arms when she sleeps and he can massage her etc. JD is aware what JM is trying to do in trying to gain grandma's favor. MS and JD discuss this in their room and they are speculating that because they lived with grandma and grandpa all this time, they will get half the money. MS says she feels bad because this money came from them giving SH away. When HI tells her mom about the newly discovered fortune, naturally YJ is excited believing that HI's inlaws will now be wealthy and that its the beginning of good times for HI. While at the inlaws, KW returns the money that BD and given to him to invest. He tells BD that he and HI discussed this and thought it would be better to return the money but says that he will ask him to invest when he has a better product. HI's mom happens to hear the conversation and she comes in and takes the envelope from BD.
Last scene shows JO on an outing with grandma. They see a realty company so they go to find out the value of the property. The realtor says that it varies but land in that area can be worth $10,000 per lot. They calculate that 200 lots would be morth 200 million. Grandma starts to faint, JO catches her. The End

So, the whoe episode seems to show everyone's greed in their anxiousness to get a piece of the pie. Hope there is not too many episodes like tonights...this land issue has to be resolved so that the more insteresting story line can continue. I just can't figure out why the writer included this scenario in the drama. Except perhaps to emphasize how bizzare people can be. One minute the whole family is in crisis over SH's illness and JM's divorce and all that seems to disappear when money came into the picture. I will do a summary tomorrow night if the content is worth it.

Episode #164

Scene 1 - Grandma and JO go to JO's apartment. Grandma is faint after learning that her property may be worth 2 million rather than 1 million like they thought earlier. She asks JO, "How much did he say it was worth?" JO: "2 million". Grandma: "He really said it right? Your father gave me such a bad time, who would know he would do this?" JO tells her that even if she gives some away, she should hold on to some of the money herself.'

Scene 2 - JM is still at JD's. JD comes home and JM greets him saying, "You're home early." JD tells JM that he shouldn't stay at his house and that he should either stay and JO's or go home. JM assures JD that he is not staying with grandma to brownnose to get more money. JD says that mother will give him some so why can't he just wait. Eventually the two brothers get into an argument over JM's staying at JD's house and the issue with the distribution of the money. JM says that he is the most needy one in the family because he has to face up to Nara to avoid the divorce. JD tells him that he feels sorry for Nara and that JM should go and beg her. Grandma comes home with JO and finds JM still there. She asks her two sons what they are doing and JM says that they are just having a conversation. JO is surprised to see JM at the house and asks him what he is doing there and if he moved in. They asks grandma where she went. JM and JD are told the real value of the property.

Scene 3 - Nara is at home, phone rings. It is JM. She answers the phone and asks, "What is it? Is something wroing with SH?" JM tells her that it is about the land. Nara says that she doesn't want to hear about it but JM proceeds to tell her that the land is worth 2 million dollars.

Scene 4 - KW is talking to the realtor after looking at a property to open a store. Realtor asks him if he wants to sign a contract but KW says that he will contact him tomorrow. He calls HI and tells her that he saw the store and he likes it but he didn't sign the contract. Says he is going to the hospital to see sH.

Scene 5 - JO and MS talking in the kitchen about hard times they had. Ms asks her what she is doing at the house at this hour (when she is supposed to be at the restaurant). JO says she closed the store for the evening. MS tells her that she should have gone to the hospital. JO is still talking about he money saying it all still feels like a dream. MS says that she has an awful feeling because it was the money that they got when they gave up sH. JO tells her to just go along with mother does with the money. MS says she should tell Nara but JO tells her that JM already told Nara.

Scene 6 - Nara is talking to her father telling him that the money they gave the Changs is now 2 m8illion dollars. She says they are probably making plans while sH is dying in the hospital. Nara says that she wants to ask them for the property document.

Scene 7 - JN and SH in the hospital. JN says that she is so nervous every day. She says, "I'm asking you--get the transplant for our baby." SH says that he wants the transplant too and that the hospital is looking for a donor. Hearing that, JN gets frustrated and says how long is it going to take-- a month? 2 months? She tells him that he has lost weight (although he denies it) and this is not something to be stubborn about. KW comes into the room and says that HI is on her way. JN excuses herself and leaves the room so that the two of them can talk.
KW: Are you my brother?
SH: I guess so.
KW: I am sorry for being so blunt. You gave me so many clues but I never caught on. Isn't it stuffy in here?
SH: If it was will you stay instead?
KW: I wouldn't stay even if someone paid me. It's perfect for a rude brat (jokingly).
SH: You're no help.
KW: You have to get the transplant over with. We want to start a business but not getting anywhere because of you. If you don't get the transplant mom won't last long either.
SH thinks to himself--I know how much pain she is in after giving me away. He is worried that something might happen to her and doesn't think that its right for her to live and for her to sacrifice her life this way.
KW: Just do as I say.

Scene 8 JN is sitting outside of the room. HI approches. JN tells her that KW is here so she decides not to interfere and sits down to talk with JN. HI apologizes for not being able to come more often. She comforts JN. JN asks her if she can be weak in front of her. She tells HI that she wouldn't be worried if sH gets the transplant. HI tells her that she is sure that day will come. HI tells her that she has thought of HI a lot since she heard about sH's illness. She says, "You said you envied me because I had a close relationship with my mother-in-law. I think I am going to be envious soon because she will be loved by two mother-in-laws." She tells JN that she is ready to do anything for her. Suddenly JN smells the food and asks what the smell is. HI tells her that she brought food for them.

Scene 9 - Everyone is sitting around the table in the living room of KW's house. Someone says it would be perfect if sH were healthy. KW says he looked at the store and gives them details about the deposit and rent amounts. MS thinks its expensive but KW says that its about the normal cost. They ask DJ what plans she made and she tells them about her plan to stay in Europe for a month which would cost about 10,000. JD tells KW that they should go in business together. JM is surprised to hear that and tells JD that he is not the business type. But JD says that he was thinking of starting a business since he cannot drive a cab forever. He thought it would be nice if he could open a business with KW Someone says that he made the right decision because its too hard for KW to do it alone. Grandma tells KW that she will give him $500,000 and that she can do that much for the oldest grandson. She says that the oldest grandson has to fare well for the family to prosper. JM blurts out something about the land being worth 2 million dollars. The rest of the family were not aware of the new valuation of the land so they are all surprised. JM tells grandma that if she gives him the land documents he can get a precise value for the property. Grandma says that she will take care of it herself and that she will decide how to divide the money. MS looks like she has mixed feelings about all this discussion about the money.

Scene 10 - BD walks through darkened house and sees the light on in the kitchen. Thinking that his wife forgot to turn off the light, he goes into the kitchen and finds YG standing and eating. He asks, "What are you doing at 4 a.m.?" YG tells him that the early bird catches the worm." BD does not seem amused so YG tells him to go back to bed and that he will hurry and leave.

Scene 11 - YJ is talking to BD about the 2 million dollars, saying that that money is HI's too. Bd warns her not to interfere. They talk about the secret money he has but BD says he doesn't have any more money since she took it all. YJ asks him if he secretly bought land. Says maybe they should buy land, tells huim to invest well. BD tells her that she has to give him $20 for today. She hands him the $20 and tells him to use it frugally.

Scene 12 - At Well Being all the workers are complaining about the new division manager and how he schedules things, etc. They say that SH was perfect and that they miss him. They want to go back to old times.

Scene 13 - Grandma is puts the spoon holder with the land documents in her purse and gets ready to go out. MS tells her to take a cab. Grandma says that they should buy a car since everyone has a car. MS is surprised. Grandma is at a restaurant with her friends. They question her about what she is guarding (she has her hand on the spoon holder laid on the table). She tells them it is nothing. One of them ask her if she is worried because one of her grandsons got fired. She says why should she worry since he could just start his own business. They tell her that in order to start a business, one needs money. Apparently, they are in a sort of money co-op where they each put in a certain amount of money each month and take turns using the money. Friends think that grandma is acting strange.

Scene 14 - SH is in hospital bed. He has a pain on the side. He tries to get out of bed but as he does, he falls to the ground. JN is coming back to the room after watering the plant. She walks in the room and finds SH lying on the floor.

Scene 15 - Phone rings at KW's. MS answers the phone and JN is crying on the other end. MS tells her to stop crying and asks if something happened to SH. JN tells her and MS says, "What?"

Scene 16 - Doctor is in the room. JN asks if SH is alright. Doctor says that they should rush the operation. Doctor tells JN that SH talked to him a few days ago and asked if a woman in her 50's donated her liver, what side effects would there be. Dr. says that there is a risk of side effects no matter who the donor is and tells JN to convince him so that he would have the surgery quickly. Says there is not much time. MS, JO and JM come into the room. MS asks the doctor if they can't do the surgery while he is unconscious. The doctor says that he has to be ready for the sugery so they should convince him when he wakes up. JO is exasperated and says, "He sure doesn't listen."

Scene 17 - YJ is over at Nara's talking about the property that is worth 2 million. YJ says that she learned through this that people have to know how to wait. She says, "I realized life shouldn't be rushed." YJ says that Nara does not seem to be interested in the money but Nara says that she wouldn't be human if she wasn't. She tells YJ that the money was from her so she figures that half of it should be hers. YJ does not understand what Nara is talking about. The phone rings. Nara answers and says she won't go and repeat that again and cuts the phone. She holds her head. YJ asks her what's wrong but Nara just asks her to leave because she wants to be alone. YJ is puzzled.

Scene 18 - Nara goes to her room. She says to herself, "He's dying but he is worried about his biological mother? That fool!"

Scene 19 - JN is wiping sH's face with a towel while MS watches. JN tells him to open his eyes. She hears him say something and asks, "What did you say?" SH: "Mother..." JN: "You want o see mother? Which mother? Aunt? Mother? MS looking at SH almost in tears....The End

Episode 165

Scene 1 - SH is regaining consciousness and asks for "Mother". JN asks him who he is talking about his aunt or his mother at Pyongchongdong. He replies, "Pyongchongdong mother." MS looks at little disappointed hearing that.

Scene 2 - Grandma's friends learn about the land that grandpa bought. They tease grandma about her sudden good fortune and tell her that she has to pay for their lunch, etc. Everyone is in a happy mood except for one lady. Grandma notices it and asks her what's wrong. Her friend asks her if she is sure the land is worth 2 million. Grandma asks, "Why? Is it worth 3 million?" Friend tells her that she is worried because the property document is from 27 years ago and she heard some things (which causes her to wonder about the the property's worth).

Scene 3 - Nara is recalling JM telling her that he thinks that SH is refusing the transplant because he is worried about MS. She says, "He wants to die before me--that jerk." JN calls on the phone asking, "What will we do about sH? Nara asks her why she is calling her. JN tells her that SH keeps asking for her and that the doctor says that he needs the surgery right away. She begs Nara to come and convince SH. JN returns to hospital room. MS asks what Nara said. JN says that Nara did not say much. MS: "She didn't say she would come?" JN and MS talk about SH's condition. JN says its not good for SH to fall into comas too often. MS says that SH is refusing the surgery because he hates her. JN assures MS that that is not the case and the the real reason he is refusing surgery is because he is worried about her. MS: "Whatever it is, I wish he would get the transplant.

Scene 4 - YJ is getting ready to go out and visit KW's house, saying that she should go and congratulate them about their fortune.

Scene 5 - SH wakes up and sees MS by his bedside. She tels him that she forced JN to go home with her mom because she was worried about her. She tells him she is just there to take JN's place and that she knows its uncomfortable for him to have her there. She says she will just sit on the sofa. Sitting on the sofa, she says, "SH, you know you're going to be a father soon, right? Parents have to do many things for their children iven if they don't want to. One of them is to live no matter how hard it is."
SH says he knows and tells her that he will get the transplant from another donor. MS: "Do you hate me that much to ignore your parents and your wife?" SH: "I don't hate you." MS: "Then? Are you worried about me?" SH: "I didn't do anything for you. I don't deserve to receive anything. MS: "I deserve to give it to you, I am your mother." sH: "You're KW and DJ's mother, not mine. I can't accept the fact that you're giving your life for me. It's for young people to do, not you. If something goes wrong, how will I face DJ and KW? I just can't do it." JM, JO and JN come into the room. JM tells him to get the transplant. MS is concerned about JN and tells JO, "I thought I told you to take JN home? JO says that JN just can't sit still. MS says she is worried that JN will collapse.

Scene 6 - Grandma is entering the house and the phone is ringing. The phone cuts before she can get to it. She wonders where everyone is. Then, she says to herself, "What was she (her friend) talking about? Grandma looks at the property documents again and says, "There's nothing wrong with this...why did she ruin my good mood?" Grandma looks worried. YJ comes into the courtyard. Grandma is curious why she came but invites her in. YJ tells grandma that she came to see her and that she heard the good news and offers her congratulations. Grandma is not too excited.

Scene 7 - OD and friend are talking about the land that HI's inlaws inherited. OD says that HI got married well and that BD and YJ are happy about the good fortune. Friend tells her that maybe she will get some money so she should have hope. OD agrees and says that HI wouldn't forget her family.

Scene 8 - Grandma in the dining area, getting drink of water. DJ comes in and tells her that SH is sick again. She tells grandma that they should go to the hospital to see SH after mom gets back. Grandma agrees.

Scene 9 - Cider Park finds out that co-worker is going on a blind date with a younger man and gives her a hard time.

Scene 10 - Grandma enters SH's room, and DJ follows. Grandma tells SH, "Your grandpa didn't spend the money. He bought land with it." SH says that he heard. Grandma tells him to forget your misunderstanding and get the surgery. SH says he will think about it. Grandma tells him that he doesn't have time to think. DJ also urges sH to go ahead with the surgery. SH tells them to trust him and wait a little more. Grandma wants him to make up his mind.

Scene 11- BD finds out from YJ that she went to visit KW's house. He tells her that she shouldn't have gone and that grandma probably read her mind. YJ asks what he means and he tells her that she never goes there and then suddenly rushes over there when she hears about the money. He asks how the family was. YJ tells him that nobody was home except grandma and even she didn't have much energy. She attributes it to the fact that sH is in the hospital. BD asks how the transplant is going and YJ says she doesn't know anything except that MS is the donor. She wonders why they are postponing the surgery. BD says that Nara must be practically living at the hospital since her son is sick but YJ tells him that Nara is not going to the hospital.

Scene 12 - JM comes home. Nara starts to walk past him. As she walks in front of him, JM grabs Nara's arm. She tells him to let go. He asks her why she is so narrow-minded. Nara says she doesn't want to be SH's mother and that she is sick of it and that she's told him that many times. JM says that he thought that she didn't really mean it. He is upset and tells her that he'll leave now and won't come begging for her love again. He asks, "Does your pride make you happy? Your pride isn't helping your son. I feel sorry for you." JM leaves in anger. After he leaves, Nara holds on to the wall, and goes to her chair.

Scene 13 - KW's family all gathered together around the table in the living room. They are talking about SH and how is might be refusing surgery because he is worried about MS but they agree that he has no choice, has to have the surgery. DJ says everyone is so sad about SH, what's the use of having all that money? She notices that grandma is not holding on to the spoon holder and asks her where it is. They tell grandma that she said she would find out about the worth of the land, want to know if it really is 2 million. Grandma says it might not be that much, maybe it might not be worth anything. KW asks how can that be, that it must be worth something. Grandma says that SH could die and the land price is not that important. They agree. JD says that they should pretend that they didn't open the envelope unitl SH gets the transplant.

Scene 14 - Grandma is in her room. KW comes in and tries to help her get her bedding spread out. He notices that she looks down and asks her if something happened. Grandma asks why he came to her room. He tells her that he has to sign the contract for the store tomorrow and asks for her permission to do so. She asks him, "Are you worried about money when SH is sick? His transplant comes first. Money is useless if you are not healthy." KW apologizes for thinking about himself. Grandma lies down and KW leaves her room. Grandma says to herself, "That old woman, she is sure bothering me." (Worried about what her friend said).

Scene 15 -KW goes into his bedroom. HI is waiting for him and asks him if grandma gave him permission to sign. KW tells her that he will do it after SH gets the transplant. HI agrees that SH getting the surgery is more urgent. Tells him there is no rush for the store and not to be sad if someone else signs a contract for the store. Grandma comes intot he room and tells him to sign the contract. She tells him that the store has to be in a good spot so he should sing the contract tomorrow.

Scene 16 - OD applying plasters to relieve pain on YG's back. She asks him if he can't find work other than labor. Someone knocks ont he door. It is Eunbin. He asks them what they are doing and says, "It's nice to see both of you in one room."

Scene 17- JN tells sH that if he is not going to have the surgery she is going to make a decision too. SH reminds her that whether he lives a long life or dies, that baby is his own blood. JN says that's why he has to get aunt's liver. SH says he will think about it and to give him a few days. JN tells him he doesn't have time. SH begins to cough and he coughs up blood. JN goes to call the doctor.

Scene 18 - MS gets phone call from JN. She rushes to get dressed.

Scene 19 - MS goes to Nara's house. She tells Nara to save SH. She says, "He has to get the transplant, convince him. He won't listen to us. You're the only one that can change his mind. He doesn't consider me his mother. He throws away food that I made, he was unconscious but only called for you. MS goes down on her knees and says, "I know you're mad at me. You're right that I interfered with JN's abortion. It's all my fault. Forget everything. Tell him to get the transplant. He is vomiting blood. He'll die." Nara goes quickly to her room. Recalls SH's visit when he said, "I am having such a hard time. Hold my hand just once. Thens he recalls what MS says about SH only asking for her and that he is vomiting blood and that he'll die. Nara gets dressed and leaves the house.
MS still on her knees and seeing Nara leave says to herself, "Thanks, thank you".

Scene 20 - Nara goes to the hospital. She hesitates at the door and JN comes out of the room and sees her standing right outside the room. She tells Nara that SH is alone and that she should go in to see him. Nara enters the room and sees SH lying in bed. SH gets up and sees Nara.

Last night's ending was sooo good!

I agree 3pikake. I was crying for 10 whole minutes last night because it was so sad. I recorded it on my DVR and rewatched the ending 5 times today.

All I can say is finally Nara gives up and goes to see her son. After all those episodes of Nara being stubborn she finally stopped pissing me off.

I was also proud of Suk-hyun's father for yelling at Nara and giving her a piece of advice that she really needed to hear.

I agree with you....last night's episode was extremely emotional. I never expected Nara to come around and finally display her human side. I must admit that I am sad that there are only 5-6 more episodes to go. I will definitely miss watching this drama. If you folks know where I can buy the DVD, please let me know.

Episode 166

Scene 1 - Nara and SH embrace. Nara looks at Sh and asks him if he left home to show her this (I guess referring to his being ill). SH apologizes. Nara says that she thought about a lot of things and that she hated him but when she thought she might not see him again, hating him was in vain.
Nara: If I understood you sooner, you wouldn't be in so much pain.
SH: I really regret what I said to you. Please forgive me.
Nara: I'll forgive everything so listen to my wish. SH says that he has a wish too.
Nara: Tell me your wish first.
SH: When I didn't know I was sick, I left and lived with JN. I had only one wish --to be forgiven by you and live in the same house. I would think about when I woke up, you and father would be downstairs, sitting in the garden and having tea, things like that.
Nara: Let's do that okay? The worse thing for a child to do is to die before the parents. It's the same for me and aunt. It's probably worse for her. Do you want to do that to us and die before us?"
Nara comes out of the room. JN is waiting. She wants to know what SH said. Nara tells JN that SH is going to have the transplant. JN: "Are you serious?" She is so happy to hear the news that she hugs Nara and says, "Mother thank you." Nara looks a little uncomfortabe. MS comes down the hallway. JN tells MS that SH is going to have the surgery. MS says that she is glad that he decided to do that. MS thanks Nara saying that she did a great job. Nara asks MS why she is thanking her. Nara says that she is grateful that MS is saving her son.

Scene 2 - JN and SH in the room. JN is happy and excited that SH finally consented to have the surgery. She notices that SH isn't too enthusiastic. She asks him if he is worried about aunt. He admits that he is. JN tells him that she will be fine and that she was happy when she heard that he is having the transplant. He asks where she is and JN says that she is outside. JN steps out of the room but no one is in the hallway.

Scene 3 - MS goes into her room. JD is sleeping. She sits down, looks a little worried.

Scene 4 - Grandma is talking to JO. JO calls to confirm that grandma heard that SH agreed to have the surgery. Grandma says she knows.
Family gather together. DJ seems nervous at the thought of her mother having the surgery. They try to reassure each other and MS that all will be fine. MS tells the family that she is confident. Grandma tells MS that she is going to carry her on her back after the surgery. JD asks how she conviced him but MS says that she didn't and that it was Nara who convinced SH. Grandma is surprised and says, "She wentto the hospital?" KW says that SH didn't listen to them and he says okay right away when his mother tells him to have the surgery. KW and HI go to their room.KW says that he is so upset because its not good either way, HI reassures him and tells him that mother will be fine. KW admits that he is worried about his mother because its hard for someone her age to do it. HI reminds him that mother wanted to do this so much.

Scene 5 - Doctor is visiting SH and tells him that his surgery is set for 8:00 the next morning. After the doctor leaves, JN tells SH that he doesn't have to be afraid because a new life is beginning for him tomorrow. SH says he has to go somewhere. JN says she will go with him but he tells her that he wants to go alone. She wants to know where he is going. He tells her that he won't be away long.

Scene 6 - SH goes to KW's house. JD is surprised to see him and tells him that he should be in bed. SH says that he came to see aunt. JD tells him that MS is not home and that she went out without saying anything. He says that she might be at church.

Scene 7 - MS is in church praying. She makes the sign of the cross and stands and is about to leave when she sees SH sitting in the pew. She sits next to him. SH asks her if she comes here often. MS says no and that she only comes once in a while when she is having a hard time and she comes to ask for her (Mary's) help. And also to thak her for listening to her prayers. SH asks her why she comes here. MS says, "Long ago, I had a baby that got sick. The doctor said we had to take the baby to the States or give up. I carried that baby out of the hospital and the cross came into sight. The door was open so I came in. I cried so much for the baby that day because he had incapable parents. I hated myself for being poor. I prayed asking her (Mary) tosave my baby. I said I would sacrifice everything. I said I wouldn't ask again, just save my baby. I swore one thing. If anyone saved my baby, I would be forever grateful. I am grateful to your mother for doing everything I couldn't and for raising you with love."
SH: I am sure I caused you a lot of pain. I am sure you worried about me more than your healthy children. You probably loved me more because you couldn't show your love. I didn't realize that. It will be a huge operation for you tomorrow. There's something I have to tell you before the surgery. Aunt, I'll live tomorrow. You be sure to live tomorrow too. You have to....Mother...(has his arms around her shoulder)
MS: Yes...
They embrace each other.

Scene 8 - SH is in his room, takes off his wedding ring and gives it to JN to take care of while he has surgery,. They hug.
meanwhile MS is in another room with her family surrounding her. They tell her not to be nervous. Grandma says that she has three children. Think of that and survive. MS tells them not to worry. They tell her that they will be waiting for her. DJ tells her that she has to wake up. MS tells them again not to worry about her. KW grabs her hand and MS looks at him and smiles.

Scene 9 - SH and MS are being wheeled to the operating room They look across the room at each other. A door closes between them. The surgery begins. The family members are anxiously waiting in the waiting room. HI's mom and dad come. JD thanks them for coming. He tells them that MS had a major surgery before and had a hard time waking up from the anesthesia. YJ asks Nara if she ate and then says she probably can't eat with SH in surgery. JN has her tear-filled eyes closed and is praying. YJ notices JN and asks Nara why JN is crying like that. Nara turns around to look at JN. YJ says she feels sorry for JN--a newlywed who has to nurse her husband. Meanwhile, the surgery continues.
Nara, JO, JN go to SH's room. Nara tells her to stay in the room to rest and wait there but JN says she would feel better being closer to SH. She leaves Nara and JO in the room and heads back to the waiting room.
JO tells Nara that she is grateful to her because she saved a lot of people. Nara asks, "Who did I save?" JO says, "You convinced sH. SH is your son. What you did for him for 27 years wasn't a waste at all. Nara asks her what her intentions are in saying this (but she says it with a smile).
JN goes back to waiting room. Shortly after that, a light goes on showing that MS is in the recovery room. KW calls HI to tell her that mother is in recovery and that SH's surgery will begin. JD and KW are waiting for word on MS. Doctor comes out. He tells them that she has not awakened from the anesthesia yet and that her bilirubin count and another count is up so maybe it will be a while before she got up. He says that it takes a while for the levels to drop in older people. KW and JD are worried. They call grandma. Grandma is alarmed when she hears that MS did not get up yet. They tell her to eat but she says how can she eat when her daughter-in-law and grandson are in surgery. Grandma says, "Why isn't she up yet? MS come on....then speaking to her deceased husband says--Honey don't fool around. Do something. Use your connections up there." Meanwhile Nara is sitting in the waiting room thinking, "MS get up. I won't forgive you if anything happens to you." Doctor comes to tell the family that MS woke up. They are so happy.

Scene 10 - At the restaurant OD is wondering how the surgery went. She says that maybe she should call HI. Friend tells her that she cannot believe how her life is so closely entwined with the Chang family. Tells her to forget Mr. Chang because they could never be together. OD tells her to stop it because what if YG were to walk in and hear all this. YG does walk in and he gives OD $50.

Scene 11 - JD, JN, Nara waiting for SH's surgery to be over. They see sH being wheeled out. They run to his side. MS is in a room. SH is wheeled next to her. She sees him and closes her eyes. SH gets up, looks around. Turns his head and sees MS right next to him in the next bed. He reaches for her hand. MS opens her eyes and grabs his hand. Tears roll down SH's face. The End

Hello again, 3pikake. Last night's episode had to be one the best ones. Finally both mother and son give up their stubborness. I hope Jong-nam and Suk-hyun will find more happiness in tonight's episode.

Indeed the church seen with Minsook and Sukhyun was very touching. I can't believe he called her mother so soon. I was very happy.

I'm even glad the surgery went well for the both of them.

Talk about crying.....the church scene with Minsook and Sukhyun was extremely emotional. To hear Minsook talk about what happened when Sukhyun was a baby and all the hard choices that she had to make in order to save his life took me over the edge. I am so happy that Sukhyun now realize how much he means to her.
