Episode 167

Scene 1 - HI is in the kitchen finishing preparing food while DJ is carrying food items in a tray to the dining table. KW is trying to help.Grandma is at the table. MS comes to the table assisted by JD. MS seems embarrased for grandma to see her getting help from JD-- says she can walk by herself but JD insists that he help her. Grandma says that she wouldn't say anything even if JD carried her (MS) around. As they are eating, KW says that his second payment on the store property is due soon. Grandma says that she has to go to the realtor to sell the land.

Scene 2 - Grandma is in her room looking at the spoon case. She talks to her deceased husband as she looks at the spoon case, saying,"Honey, thank you. You left us so much money. You also let the transplant go well. When our oldest grandson starts his business, let it be successful. Don't let our children worry about money any more. Kisses the spoon holder.

Scene 3 - SH is walking in the hallway with JN's help. She tells him she has to do one more round (walking) but he says he already did ten rounds. She says he did nine. SH sits down and tells her to sit down. At first she refuses telling him that the doctor said he needs to exercise but relents when sH insists that he already did 10 rounds. She sits next to him. sH asks her if she called aunt. JN tells him that aunt said not to worry about her and think about himself. JM comes down the hall. He tells sH that he looks so much better. Tells them that mom is happy and busy doing something.

Scene 4 - JO and Nara are in SH and JN's apartment packing up their things. SH and JN are moving into SH's home. While they are packing, JO notices Nara looking at SH and JN's "wedding picture" (the one with their two hands). JO: "They took that after they pledged their vows." Nara: "That's their weddig picture?" (All this time, I think Nara thought it was a real wedding picture) JO: "That'w what they call it." Nara glances at JO and notices that she is crying and asks her "In-law, what's wrong with you?" JO: "I don't know...Now that JN is moving in with you I am happy..." JO asks Nara not to abuse JN. Nara says that she will deal with her daughter-in-law so she should stay out of it. JO says that she is JN's mother. Nara: "Let's see who has more power." Again JO tells Nara not to give JN a hard time. Nara: "On what basis?" JO explains that a person who had a hard time with her mother-in-law does the same thing so she feels relieved (or something like that). Nara: "So, your mother didn't give me a hard time?" JO: "MS had a hard time before but you never did."
Jo tells Nara she saw a restaurant for sale near their house and was wondering if she should buy it. She asks how much and apartment would cost in that area. Nara tells her that she must have a lot of money saved (alluding to the high cost of the rentals in their area). JO says that she'll just ask mother for the money. Nara says "You are talking about the money that I gave grandpa" etc. JO tells Nara that she must feel great that grandma can live in comfort in her old age. (Even though things they said to each other seem confrontational, actually it was a friendly conversation).

Scene 5 - MS is doing something in the kitchen. DJ comes in and tells her to go to her room. Grandma asks her if she asked JM and JO to come over. MS says that she forgot. Just then, JO walks in carrying a large box. Grandma asks, "What's this?" JO tells her that its an air purifier that makes the air fresh. Grandma says that now JO is here so they should call JN. JM comes walking in, asks MS how she is feeling. JO asks him why he came. JM asks, "What kind of question is that? I came to see mother and MS. He asks about the air purifier and learning that its from JO, he says that ribs are better and he gives a bag of ribs to them, saying that its for mother. JO says. "That's new...you never brought anything to my house" (when he was staying there).

Scene 6 - SH eating his meal at the hospital. JN says that this is his last dinner at the hospital. SH says, "Am I finally being discharged?" JN informs him that the whole family is getting together. He asks if its a special occasion. She tells him that they are discussing the property document. JN asks, "How much do you think grandma will give us?" SH says that they should accept whatever she gives them. JN says she doesn't need any of it. SH says that they wil divide the money well.

Scene 7 - Family meeting at KW's house. Grandma says that now the SH's transplant is over, she has to sell the land and they are there to discuss how to divide the money. She says she promised $500,000 to KW and she would divide the rest among them. JM protests but grandma reminds him that KW is the oldest grandson and as such, he has to take care of everyone so she will give him $500,000. She says that they should discuss how they will divide the rest of the money. (From this point, its one big fight--I'm not sure who said what but this will give you some idea of what was said at the meeting).
"Dividing 1.5 million into 4 is not fair."
JM: "If you give $500,000 to KW you should give that much to SH too.
After all, you got the money because of SH".
JD: "Since when did you need so much money?"
Grandma then says that she thinks she should give $500,000 to SH and KW and divide the rest. Asks for their opinion. JO gets upset and says that its not fair that her brothers' families get $750,000 (500,000 for their son plus the 250,000 that each child will get) while she gets only 250,000. Grandma says again that since they got the money because of SH, he should get the same amount as KW.
JM: "The seed money was from Nara. Mother you're so wise."
Someone tells JM that he is well off without this money. But JM says that he does not have a single penny. Grandma tries to console JO saying that she realizes that JO lived alone all this time and that she wants to give her the most but feel that they should divide the money equally. Grandma summarizes their decision saying, "Okay, this is how it will be. $500,000 each to KW and SH, $250,000 for everyone else." DJ suddenly speaks up and says, "Why are you leaving me out?' Grandma tells her that she still is under her parents and asks JM and MS to give her 10,000 from their share. DJ: "I get only $10,000? Grandma oly likes KW and SH. HI tells DJ that they will buy her a house when she gets married. JO says, "You take my share. I can't buy a restaurant with $250,000." She tells her brothers that they are so mean and that she can't trust any of them. She tells grandma to come and live with her. Grandma asks why.
JO: "Are you happy you are treated like this?" JO is upset and tells grandma to take care of her sons, take her $250,000 because she doesn't want the money. Grandma goes to her room after the meeting and talking to herself says, "How much money do they need to be satisfied?"

Scene 8 - JO arrives home. Says to herself, "They call themselves brothers!"

Scene 9 - JM is laying out their bedding. He says that he was surprised with JM and JO. MS says that money made them act like that.

Scene 10 - JM comes home and tells Nara about the meeting. He tells her that everyone was so greedy for money. Nara asks if KW's family is getting all of it and asks if they fought. JM says other families might have used violence but we just talked. ( ) He tells her that mother agreed with him and that they would get $750,000. He said he presented his argument well and that he should have studied harder and become a lawyer.

Scene 11 - BD is in the living room reading paper. He asks YJ where OD is. YJ says she must be still sleeping. He says that she should get up and take Eunbin out rather than sleeping in. BD says maybe he should take Eunbin to an exhibit. He knocks on OD's door. OD and YG are in bed together. They jump out of bed, get dressed and YG stands by the door so that he would be hidden when the door is opened. BD comes into the room and seeing the empty bed asks where Eunbin is. OD says that he must be sleeping with his father. YJ tells her that BD wants to take Eunbin out so she will wake him up. OD stops her and says to let Eunbin sleep a little longer and that she will go and wake him up. BD tells OD that she should get up early and asks, "What will your son learn from you?" He closes the door. OD and YG breathe a sigh of relief but BD suddenly opens the door again (without knocking) and sees them both in the room. He says in anger, "I ought to..."

Scene 12 - OD tells her friend what happened at home and how embarrasing it was to have BD walk in the room and see them together. Friend tells her that she should tell BD and YJ that she and YG are back together. Friend says that even she thinks that YG has changed.

Scene 13 - Grandma is in her room. KW comes in the room asking if she asked to see him. Grandma gives KW the land documents and tells him to go to several realtors and sell the land to the realtor who would give him the most. As KW is leaving the house, he sees his mother and tells her that grandma gave him the land documents to sell. MS tells him to be careful. After KW leaves, MS says to herself, "He's so happy."

Scene 14 - MS goes to her room. She is wondering if SH is home. The phone rings. It is SH. He asks how she is. She assures him that she is fine. SH tells her to be sure to take your medications and get her check-ups. Says that he is going home and that he will come to see her soon. Ends conversation saying, "Thank you aunt."

Scene 15 - JN is in the hospital room packing SH's things. SH walks in the room. JN says that he must be so happy now that he can go outside and say goodbye to the hospital. SH tells her that she did a great job. Sayd he wondered if he could leave this room alive and well. SH tells JN that they should be good to everybody and do nice things. JN jokingly asks him, "Can you really live like that?" SH: "I can do that." JN: "You're so mature now." Nara comes into the room and says that she just met with the doctor and that the doctor said the result is good. They go home.
When they arrive home, Nara notices SH looking at the house. She asks him what he is looking at. SH replies that its nice to be home. JN mentions that the garden is pretty and Nara says that she works to make it pretty. JN says she'll work hard too. SH says that when Sukjong is born, the baby will learn to walk and play here. JN asks them if they could get a swing. When asked why, she says that she always thought of it as a sign of a happy family. Nara says, "Then, let's get five of them." They go inside the house and into their room. The room is all set up, the wedding picture is up. JN is amazed. She notices that even a crib and mobile is set up for the baby. She sees a basket of flowers on the dresser and admires it, saying its pretty. She notices a card on the arrangment and opens it. The card is from Nara telling SH that she decoratd the room as a gift for them and she hopes that it will be a nice room for JN and the baby. Nara walks in and tells them that they can change things if they don't like it but JN says that everything is so nice. She hugs Nara and says "I don't know if I deserve this..." Nara: "You are always grying." SH tells his mom that he will hug her but she tells them to hug each other. JN tells Nara, "Thank you so much. I'll really be good to you." Nara says, "You know I can be scary, right?"

Scene 16 - DJ and friend selling their things on the street. DJ tells her friend that she will buy him many gifts when she goes to Europe. He asks her if the land was really worth 2 million. She says that KW will find out today.

Scene 17 - KW is at the realtors office. He asks how much properties are worth in the area they have land in. Realtor says that it depends on the locaion. KW shows him the land document--saying that they have 200 lots. He says, "It's over 2 million right?" Realtor looks at the document and says, "I didn't know people still had this kind of document" and drops the land document on the table. He tells KW to find out how much it is a the Seong-si office. The End

Episode 168

Scene 1 - KW at the realtor's office. He is told to the Seongnam City Hall to find out land's worth. KW is walking down the street in a daze.

Scene 2 - JD is busy calculating--figuring out what to do with the money (or counting the chickens before they hatch ). Jn serves him tea. SH and Nara come downstairs. Nara asks JM what he is doing. JM says its called financial management. He tells SH and JN that they will get $750,000 once grandma sells the land. They are suprised and say its too much. Nara tells him to explain how he got that amoung. JM explains that SH and KW are getting $500,000 each and the rest of the money would be divided equally between their family, JD's family, JO and grandma. So in total, they are getting $750,000. JN asks what they would do with that money. JM says they have to invest it and asks them if they want to take care of their own money or if they want him to take care of it. Nara tells him that SH and JN should take care of their own money and when they get their money, (the 250,000) they will put five swings in the yard. JM asks her what she is talking about and Nara says that this is what JN wants.

Scene 3 - JO is also busy calculating her money. She says to herself tht she can't buy the restaurant with $250,000 and she probably needs about 100,000 more. She wonders if she should convince grandma to help her.

Scene 4 - YJ is speculating how MS will spend her money. She says that KW has enough for his business so they don't have to worry. BD says that KW will be fine even without the inheritance. YG comes out of the room. He says he doesn't have any days off and that he works every day. He is talking about jobs. Eunbin brings his dad a drink. YG tells Eunbin that he can't play with him but instead will make lots of money.

Scene 5 - OD is talking to friend about how nice YJ is and how she treats YG and Eunbin so nicely. Friend says that all she needs now is a nice husband. OD says that YG looks so kind when he smiles brightly.

Scene 6 - Office workers at Well Being talking about a bribe that the division manager accepted. They complain about him and wonder if the President knows what's going on. They all miss SH.

Scene 7 - MS is in the kitchen. Grandma comes in and asks if KW called. MS says that he didn't but said that he would call as soon as he finds out about the land value.

Scene 8 - KW is walking and recalling what realtor said--"Go ask at the city hall. Your land might be worth $50,000 at the most. KW's cell phone rings--it is grandma.
Grandma: Did you find out? Why aren't you saying anything? Tell me. Is it 3 million?
KW: It might not be even worth $100.000. What did you say?

Scene 9 - JO gets phone call, JM gets phone call from grandma telling them that the land is not worth even $100,000. Upon hearing that news JM gets up from the table. Nara asks him if something is wrong with the land document but JM doesn't answer her and leaves. JN tells Nara that she thinks JM said that the land isn't worth more than 100,000. Nara suspects that JD's family is trying to withhold the money and asks, "Do they want to keep it all?" sH and JN assure her that JM wouldn't lie about the land. JN comments that SH is a mama's boy. SH says he is not. Nara tells JN, "Do you think he would have married you if he was a mama's boy?" JN concedes that she must be right.

Scene 10 - JD just finds out about the reduced property value. MS tells him that they won't know the details until KW comes home. Just then both JO and JD arrive at the house. JM tells them that SH was discharged and came home with JN. Grandma sees them and asks if there is a special occasion and why they are all at the house? They start to talk about the value of the land. Grandma tells them that KW talked to a realtor. JM suspects that KW is just telling them that the land is worth so little so that he can keep the money. JD defends him and says that KW wouldn't lie. JM asks JD if he told KW to say its worth $50,000? They all begin to argue about the money. KW comes home. Without giving him a chance to explain, JM goes to meet him saying, "$50,000? How can the land be worth $50,000." KW says that the realtor said that. KW says, "Why did grandfather have to buy land in that area?" JM immediaely says something not blaming grandpa but that he is lying about the land value. JM grabs KW. KW tries to get him to let go but JM holds on to him saying that they have to teach KW a lesson. JD is upset and asks his brother, "What's wrong with you?" JM still believing that KW is lying, demands that he tell the truth and accuses him again of trying to keep it all. Grandma yells, "Stop it! How can you act like this in front of your mother?" She asks KW for the document. Then she says, "That old fool! Why did he have to leave this and cause so much problems!" She tells everyone to go home. JO and JM get into an argument after grandma goes to her room. JO says he can't even stand up to Nara and asks if that's the reason he has to come here and act like this. JO is upset at both her brothers. JM says that before he goes home, he wants to hear the truth. KW tells that that in 1989 a new town was built. He says that the government bought the land and even if they sell it now, they'll pay the same price that they paid the other land owners.

Scene 11 - JN, SH and Nara having tea and eating fruits. Nara asks JN how long she is going to work for someone else. SH asks her if she is saying that JN should come back to Well Being. Nara says something about it being better if they work for their own company. JN is suprised and asks Nara if she is recruiting her. She assures Nara that her value will go up when her internship is over and that she won't regret her decision. SH tells his mom that JN is really good. JM comes home upset.
Nara asked him what he meant about the property being worth only $50,000. He tells them that they are only getting about $18,000 now (based on the new land value).

Scene 12 - KW, JN and DJ are in KW and HI's bedroom. KW says that he is so tired. HI tells him that she felt sorry for him. KW says he doesn't even know how he got home. DJ says she almost cried when she heard the news. HI says that relatives seem like nothing when it comes to money. KW asks her if she is talking bad about his family. HI says she is just talking about the money. DJ leaves the room. KW says that when he read about families that fight over inheritance and go to court, I was sure my family wouldn't be like that. HI says, "I gues money causes problems."

Scene 13 - DJ calls her friend on the phone. He asks if there was a fight over the money but DH says, "What's to fight over $50,000?" He asks what she is talking about--what happened to the two million etc. He asks if someone took it and ran off with it and asks if it was KW. DJ asks him, "What is wrong with you?"

Scene 14 - JD and MS talking in their room about the fight over the money.
JD: Did you see JO and JM? They were crazy over the money."
MS: "You didn't do so well yourself. I saw you were about to punch him."
JD: I wish we had something to fight about. We have to find out at the district office or city hall...."

Scene 15 - Nara tells SH and JN that they should go and visit grandma. She goes to tell JM but JM tells her to go ahead with SH and JN, says he is not going because he went there every day. Nara says that this visit is different because they are going because SH was discharged from the hospital.

Scene 16 - JO gets phone call from MS. MS tells her to come for dinner since SH will be coming over. JO refuses. She says that she does not want to see JM or JD. MS tries to persuade her but JO is firm.

Scene 17 - MS goes to tell grandma that JM can't come and neither can JO. Grandma asks what's happening to this family. She gets upset and says to tell them not to come. She says, "I don't want to see any of them either." MS calls Nara and Nara says if that's how grandma feels, they will come to visit next week. After she cuts the phone, she says, "Money is a problem."

Scene 18 - HI goes to call grandma. Grandma is not in her room. MS wonders if she went to the Senior Center.

Scene 19 - Grandma is with a realtor. He is showing her approximately what area her land covers. Grandma says, "This is my land." But realtor corrects her and says, "Not anymore. It;s the government's land now." Grandma insists that it is her land. Suddenly, she runs into the road and
shouts, "You can't pass here!" She brings traffic to a standstill, cars are honking their horns but they can't pass because she is standing in the middle of the road. Realtor is in a panic and yells at her to move out of the cars' way. Grandma falls to the ground on the road saying, "I won't go until I get my land back. It's my land!"

Scene 20 - Grandma is at the police station. Police officer is questioning her trying to find out the reason for her actions. He tells her that even though she might be frustrated, what she did on the street is a crime. He says since she is old, they will let her go. He tells her to go home. However, grandma says that she does not have anywhere to go. They ask her if she has a home but she again says that she has nowhere to go. Officer asks if she has family but grandma says that she has no family or children.

Scene 21 - JM standing in grandma's room, goes out of the room. MS tells him that she called all of grandma's friends. They wonder if grandma went to JO's ofr JM's. JM calls JO who is sleeping. He asks her if grandma was with her. He tells her that grandma went out and is not back yet. JO is a little alamed when she looks at the clock--it is almost midnight. He asks her to call JM. She is hesitant to do that but finally agrees to call him. She calls JM and tells him that mother went out and never came home.

Scene 22- All the family members are gathered and JD's house, worried about grandma, wondering where she is. KW says that they should file a missing person report. DJ is closing her eyes saying, "I'll listen to you beter, please come home grandma." The phone rings. HI answers and the person asks if she knows a Suh Malja. HI begins to say that there is no one by that name but MS takes the phone away from her. She tells the person on the phone that Malja is her mother. She finds out that grandma is at the police station.

Scene 23 - They go to the police station to get grandma. They find her sleeping on the sofa at the station. JD asks the officer if they can take their mother home. Officer says that they told her to go home but that grandma sais she didn't have a home. Grandma wakens. They tell her that she has a home. Grandma asks them who they are and says that she doesn't know any of them. They apologize to her. She tells them to leave and tells them, "Take this! (the spoon holder with the land document). Then she says that they can fight all they want. They tell her that they checked and KW was right. They say they have nothing to fight about. Grandma is upset with all of them. She says, "You all want to live with me. If I go back without money, you will all abuse me. They three of them go on their knees. Grandma tells them she would rather be locked up in a cell, would be more comfortable there. The End

Can't beleive that Nara is looking good right now and everyone else...not too good......what a switch!

I am so happy for Joongnam and Sukhyun that they have been accepted by Nara and now all of them are living happily together under the same roof.....and Nara wanting JN to come back to work for the company.... .... Nara is being so nice to JN...I'm sure that JN's heart must be bursting with happiness....she sure deserves it after all that she had to endure Sukhyun looks like he is on Cloud 9....his two best girls are getting along....his mother hasn't divorced his father....he's living with his wife (and soon his baby) in his parents house...what a happy ending......

But I'm having a sort of hard time with Nara being so nice....after all these episodes of throwing up my hands in disgust and being upset with her about her foul temper and pride....it just takes getting used to I guess.

I'm not too crazy about how the plot line is developing around the property documents ...I wonder if this was the direction that the writers had originally had in mind or did this turn of events get put into the works after the series was extended?

Only 2 (or 3) more episodes till all pau...hope the series that takes it's place is good also!

Episode 169 --Wow! Last episode tomorrow!

Scene 1 - Nara is in the living room wondering why JN is taking so long to leave for work. JN has a broadcast to do. She calls JN and JN says she is coming down. She comes down the stairs quite loudly and Nara tells her in good humor that the stairs will collapse. JN says she will not hurt herself and Nara jokingly says that its the stairs she is worried about. She sees JN running off with laundry in her hand. Nara asks JN if she is carrying laundry and JN asks if she can wash it for her. Nara seems a little surprised but is very obliging.

Scene 2 - SH in his office. (I guess he is back as division manager). JN goes to HI's office to see co-workers. Cider Park seeing JN so big, asks her when she is going on a diet. JN says, "In a month and a half (when the baby is due). HI tells them that they should get ready for the broadcast.

Scene 3 - JD is at KW's restaurant, answering the phone--"Hussan Lunch box...and taking orders. DJ is working putting lunch boxes together and her friend is getting ready to do the delivery. KW is about to leave for a meeting trying to secure a contract with a company. He tells DJ to call grandma because they are almost out of soy sauce. A couple stop at the front of the restaurant and JD invites them to try their food.

Scene 4 - Grandma is on the phone with DJ. She tells DJ that she will have the soy sauce ready so they should come and get it. She says, "It's so popular." When MS asks what is popular she says, "my soy sauce." MS wonders if they still have kim chee left. Grandma tells her that DJ only asked for more soy sauce. Grandma says, "Food depends on the sauce." MS just smiles. Just then Nara comes rushing through the gate. She says, "Turn on the TV. Hurry!" MS asks her what's on TV and if there was an accident or something. Nara takes the remote control from her. Grandma hears voices and asks if Nara is here. Nara has her eyes fixed on the TV so grandma asks her if she is too busy to look at her. Nara tells them that JN is doing a broadcast today. Grandma is surprised and asks Nara, "She's pregnant and you're making her work?" Nara says she is not making anyone work but that JN wants to do it. Grandma says, "She wants to appear on TV with her stomach like that?" MS asks her if she was going somewhere. Nara says that she had to meet someone and was on her way home but there was so much traffic she came to their house to watch the broadcast instead. Nara watches the broadcast and critiques JN as she watches (all in a friendly way).

Scene 5 - In the broadcast, JN is selling water-proof blankets for babies. The blanket has markings on the side so that you can measure the baby. She points out all the good things about the product and says that since she is expecting a baby soon, she bought one of these blankets too. She urges viewers to call and place their order.

Scene 6 - Grandma notices a bag that Nara has and asks her what is in the bag. Nara says that it is a doll made with mulberry. Grandma asks her if it really is a doll made out of berries but Nara says that the doll is actually made out of a paper made with mulberry pulp. Grandma looks at the doll and asks, "You made this?" Nara tells them that she is taking a class at the cultural center with HI's mom. Grandma says that Nara must have more time now that she has a daughter-in-law but Nara says that actually that's not ttue because now she (Nara) is doing work for her daughter-in-law. Nara says that there is something that she wants to discuss with them.

Scene 7 - SH in office on the phone. JN walks in to check if he is done for the day. He says he is done and tells her that she achieved 95% in her broadcast today. JN says she wished she had reached 100%. JN asks sH if he is taking his medication after lunch every day. She says she can moniter his breakfast and dinner medication but worries that he might forget to take it at lunch time. He tells her that if she is so worried she should come and have lunch with him every day.

Scene 8 - BD playing a board game with Eunbin. YG watches from the side and gives Eunbin advice. BD asks YG, "Didn't you get paid today?" YG says he did. So, BD asks him for living expenses for the three of them. YG says that since Eunbin is so young, he should only ask 1/2 portion for Eunbin but BD tells him that he consumes enough for two people. YG says that BD should give him a discount but BD makes him pay for three.

Scene 9 - YJ is in her room admiring the doll she made. BD asks her if she made the doll and says that its such an ugly doll. YJ says she thinks its cute. BD says the doll looks stubborn. YJ asks him if the face on the doll looks familiar. She tells him that its supposed to be him and that she used a picture of him when he was young as a model. Now BD says that the dool's face is cute. He picks up a female doll and asks if that's supposed to be her (YJ) when she was young. She says no but he says that it looks just like her when she was yooung. YJ continues to admire her creations saying that they are so cute. BD hands her money and says that it is OD's living expenses. YJ says that YG is paying pretty well.

Scene 10 - At the restaurant--Friend is asking OD if YG is good to her. OD says that YG gets dinner ready when she is working late. Friend says it seems that YG really changed. OD says that sometimes people have to experience hardships to change. Friend questions the living expenses they are being charged asking if its YJ's idea. OD says she doesn't know but its okay because they feel more comfortable paying for living expenses.

Scene 11 - JD and MS are talking. JD says, "SH's wedding?" MS tells him that Nara wants them to have a wedding. JD says he thinks they should wait until after the baby is born. MS tells him that Nara wants the children to do what they want. MS is still worried about SH's health saying that the doctor said that SH will be alright in a year. JD tells her that the doctor said that SH is making a remarkable recovery so she shouldn't worry any more.

Scene 12 - JM. Nara, SH and JN are sitting in the living room. SH says, "What? A wedding?" Nara tells him that they postponed it because of his health and work. JN says that they already exchanged vows and have a marriage license. SH says that a wedding is only a formality. JM says that a wedding is to tell family and friends that you are married. NE says that women will regret it if they don't wear a wedding dress. They agree to have a wedding. JN wonders if she can find a dress that will fit her. JN asks if they can go on a honeymoon. Nara says that it would be fine and that they should go somewhere close for a few days but JN says she wants to go to Mt. Blanc. Nara asks, "You're going to climb a mountain in that condition?" JN tells her that there are cable cars.

Scene 13 - KW and HI are in their room. HI is telling KW to use his artistic talent to create a character to use to promote their store--a charcter that has a friendly image. At first, KW is hesitant but later says that he will do it. HI says that maybe they should have accepted aunt Nara's investment. KW asks why and HI says that the restaurant is so crowded. KW tells her that they will expland it a little by little. They are about to turn in for the night. They go back and forth about who should turn off the lights.

Scene 14 - JN and SH are in their room playing paper and stone to detemine who is going to turn off the lights in their room.

Scene 15 - MS and Grandma are in the living room at home looking at SH's wedding invitation. Grandma says that it seems like it was only yesterday that SH was a baby and now he is getting married. Grandma asks if JN is really going on a honeymoon in that condition. Grandma continues, "She never listens but gets along well with her mother-in-law. JD comes home. Says that he made a delivery in the neighborhood so he stooped by at home. MS goes to the kitchen to make him some wheat drink. Grandma asks JD if he is eating well. He says that he is, after all he works at a food store. Grandma tells him that its good to have good business but one's health is most important.

Scene 16 - JN is at JO's apartment. JO asks her if it wouldn't be better to postpone the honeymoon until the baby is born. JN tells her not to worry and says she will come back healthy. JO says, "She's letting you get married and you're going on a honeymoon?"
JN: Mom
JO: What?
JN: I don't know what to say. I don't know if I should say thank you or sorry.
JO: You gave me such a hard time...Just be as happy as you are now.
JN: I didn't know what life was about before I met you.
She tells JO that she thought life was growing older year after year as one season passes on to another.
JO: So, what's life?
JN: Sometimes its hapy and sometimes its sad but its great to have somone support me. There were many ups and downs but I realize that happiness doesn't come free. But once in a while, I wonder if I deserve to be this happy. (Hugs JO) Mom...
JO: Yes
JN: I am really ahppy right now but I have one more wish. I don't want you to be alone. Will you meet Mr. Han just once...just once.
JO: Just what kind of man is he?
JN: It makes me smile to think that you will live with him.
JO: Okay, I'll meet him. Thanks mom.

Scene 17 - JN, SH, grandma, MS, and JD are having dinner at grandma's house. Grandma asks JN if she has to go to Point Blanc. SH corrects her and says, "Mt. Blanc". SH says that they made all the reservations and tells them not to worry because the area is not a completely remote area.
JN asks them who should walk her down the aisle. SH says that they could walk down the aisle together but JN says she would rather have the groom wait for her at the end of the aisle and that she wants to take light steps towards her groom. They laugh about her taking light steps, as she is almost ready to give birth. She says she should say that she will waddle down the aisle. JN suddenly says she knows who can walk her down the aisle.

Scene 18 - Scene shifts to the wedding. JN is dressed in a white wedding gown with a veil over her face, walking down the aisle with her mother. JO. JO is dressed in a pink hanbok. As they walk, she tells JO not to cry. JO asks her why should she cry? SH is waiting at the front. DJ and HI are commenting how nice JN looks KW asks HI, "Do you envy her? Let's take wedding pictures again when you are pregnant." BD comments as he sees the bride walk down the aisle with her mother that he never saw a mother walk down the aisle before. When JO and JN reach the end of the aisle and stop in front of SH, SH bows (formal bow) to the ground to JO. He stands up and says, "Let me bow as your son-in-law today. Thank you for taking care of JN and giving her to me. " JO: "Sure. Make her happy." SH: "I will." They exchange rings. They bow to Nara and JM and then do the same in front of JO while MS looks at them happily. SH carries JN down the aisle at the end of the ceremony while confetti is being thrown. Scenes of them taking a family photo, throwing of the bouquet. Bouquet caught by one of the girls at Well-Being. Cider Park is happy to see her catch it and makes a heart sign to her.

Scene 19 - SH and JN are about to depart for their honeymoon. Grandma tells her that her stomach looks much larger. They tell her that the doctor says its okay for them to take their trip. JM tells them that they can bring Sukjong home as a present. Nara makes a face at him and tells them to hurry or they will be late for the plane. They all give their good wishes and SH and JN leave in a car trimmed with pink bows. As they drive off, JN tells SH that everything she dreamed about came true. He asks her what she dreamed about and she says--she did fireworks, she made up with mother, he is healthy and now she is going to Mr. Blanc. SH reminds her that she also will be a mother in a month. Suddenly, JN starts to have contractions. At first SH thought she just had a stomachache from eating too much at lunch. He tells her to breathe slowly but finally they realize that the baby is coming so they turn around. She is in pain, says she is going to die and starts to pull his hair. The End

So sad to see the show ending tonight.

After Hae-in and Kiwoong got married, Hae-in kept calling him "Sunbae" and it seems like they were just a friendly married couple. In last night's episode she finally called him "Honey". Glad to see Kiwoong's business doing good.

Hi Everyone!

Wow! What a fantastic ending to an enjoyable drama! There was closure for every one of those “bizarre” people.

What really surprised me was how stern Jong-nam was towards her daughter. I really thought Jong-nam would be kind and sweet like her mother seeing what a rough life she had. That was a twist in the plot I didn’t expect to see. I’m guessing she will be the disciplinarian and Suk-hyun will be the nurturing parent.

Since I missed a lot of the episodes, was there an earlier scene where Jong-nam’s mother met Mr. Han? I was curious to see what he looked like.

For me, it was hard to stomach how Nara took a 180-degree turn from a wicked witch to a loving person. I guess the main thing is that she changed for the better.

The next series “Pure In Heart” looks like a good one. Usually those daily dramas are so long that I’m wondering if it is worth taping?

This is my second time around watching BB...and I still cry with the last episode. Anyone else shed a tear or two? Especially when grandma gives all the credit to Min-suk? Thinking back on all the episodes; she was totally right; and in the end the praise went to the one person that held everything together.

Indeed what a great ending. After watching this show everyday, I'm truly going to miss it.

Mailegirl, I had a few tears myself also. It was so sad towards the end when the family was taking their group pictures and Halmoni (the grandmother) was tearing. It felt as they weren't just characters playing a drama, but a real family.

I wish Hae-in got pregnant. That's usually how these dramas end with a new pregnancy or birth. Bitna (sp?) was such an adorable little girl.

I enjoyed this drama better than the ones that played after Yellow Hankie.

It was indeed a happy ending... so I'll be missing this drama too. Like kathlyn, I wish Hae-In was pregnant too, and I want to see her parents babysitting for a grandchild. Hae-in's mother, komo(ditzy woman) and sometimes Ki-woong's Halmoni makes me laugh since this drama has quite a lot of emotional times. They all could look so innocent, or naive but sometimes clever and just as "bizarre" too. Jong-nam is pretty crazy, but she got what she always wanted, a loving family who will help her succeed and nurture her. She will be the best mother and wife she could possibly be. Not to mention a good daughter in law.

Jong-nam's mother is so sweet and loving you wouldn't think Jong-nam is her adopted child. I first saw this actress playing Sunjae's mom in "Beautiful Days." and in both roles, I just adore her, as she is so "motherly."

Okay, this has to be one of my favorite daily dramas of all time too like Yellow Hankerchief, To Be With You, This Is Love and Tender Hearts...Many times I get sleepy watching them, but I try to stay awake until it ends...

Episode 170

Scene 1 - JN arrives at the hospital, yelling, pulling, SH's hair, saying she is in pain. SH apologizes over and over saying, "I'm sorry". SH pulls cell phone out of his pocket and makes a phone call while supporting the screaming JN while walking down the hallway at hospital.

Scene 2 - Phone rings at SH's house. Nara answers and asks sH if they arrived at the airport. She hears JN yelling in the background and asks him if they are fighting. SH tells her that they are at the hospital because JN is having the baby. Nara is surprised to hear the news. JM walks in the living room and asks her what's wrong. She tells them that the kids at the hospital because JN's in labor. They rush to hospital. JO is in the hallway. JO tells them that JN is having a hard time. Male voice yelling coming from delivery room. Nara: "What's that noise?" It sounds like SH. Is HE having a baby? Is JN biting him?" JO tells them since the baby is coming early, the baby will have to be put in an incubator if he/she is less that 4 pounds. More yelling from both JN and SH from the delivery room.

Scene 3 - JD's family are all sitting around the table in the living room.
Grandma is standing and sort of pacing saying, "Did she have the baby or not?" She asks them how long has it been (since they found out that JN is in labor). MS tells her that its been 10 minutes. They assure her that they will call when the baby comes. Grandma is worried and says that its hard for the mother and baby if its an early birth. KW asks grandma, "You want a son right?" Grandma: "It's important that its healthy." Then she continues, "JN is always asking for trouble. They shouldn't have gone to Mount Blanc." HI says that the baby must have been anxious to see the world. Again, grandma asks, "How many minutes has it been?" They assure her again that they will call when the baby comes so she should sit down and relax.

Scene 4 - JO, Nara, JM waiting outside the delivery room. Suddenly, they hear the baby's cry and SH comes out of the delivery room, looking haggard with his hair sticking up (from JN pulling it). They ask, "Is the baby healthy?" He smiles.

Scene 5 - Phone rings at JD's house. MS answers. She tells everyone that JN had the baby and that it is healthy. Grandma says she's so happy and then asks, "Is it a son?" MS is still on the phone and does not answer her so she assumes she is correct and says, "It must be..." MS tells the caller to congratulate JN and SH for me. After she ends her conversation, she tells them that the baby has ample weight. Grandma proudly says, "He'll be a general because he came early with no problems." MS says, "It's a daughter." Grandma: "It's not a son?" DJ says that daughters are good (and she's a good example of a good daughter, etc.) HI also says that daughters are valuable. KW jokingly says that a daugher would be valuable if she turned out like HI but not DJ. Grandma says, "Is she going to have a temper like her mother?"

Scene 6 - JN is lying in bed with her eyes closed. SH is wiping her face with a towel. She wakes up. Sh asks her if she is feeling better now. He tells her that her hands are so strong. She tells him that he lost a lot of hair and asks, "What will we do?" There is a knock at the door. JM, Nara, JO walk in. JM says, "Our princess is so pretty." Nara: "You'll kill my son if you have another baby." JN: "Everyone, I am sorry and thankful." JM tells them that they should name the baby and asks, "Will it be Sukjong?" SH says, "Don't her eyes shine brightly? How about Bitna?" They all agree that it is a nice name.

2 Years Later

Scene 7 - KW drives up to the house in a black car. He comes out of the car dressed in a suit with glasses. Talking on the phone about opening a 7th branch of the store. In the courtyard, MS is busy making kim chee saying that she has to make a lot for the box lunches. Grandma is working on her sauce. Grandma says that the sauce is important, but better than the sauce is care. (Care taken in preparing?) Later, family is all sitting around the table and they ask KW how the contract went, and asks if the location is alright. He tells them that he will sign the contract and that the location is good. They tell him that he will be even busier. DJ says that she is going to Europe this summer. They ask her how much she saved. She starts to raise one finger at a time until all five fingers are up. Grandma says, "Five hundred dollars?" You can go with $500?" DJ: "What do you mean? I saved $5,000." Grandma: "Did you work all the time instead of studying?" DJ asks HI for more money. She says she is just the accounting clerk. So DJ turns her attention to KW and says, "Mr. Chang?" KW tells her that the accounting clerk is responsible for the money. DJ: "You are such misers." JD tells her that even misers give money so not to lose hope. They all laugh.

Scene 8 - SH is down on all fours with Bitna riding on his back. (Apparently, he has been doing this for a long time and is telling Bitna that is back hurts). JN walks in and says, "You're still doing this? It's been hours! sH: "Ot's because she likes me so much." JN spanks Bitna on her behind. She starts to cry.SH takes Bitna away and asks her, "Why are you always spaking her?" JN tells him that everyone is nice to Bitna and that she will develop bad habits. She tells Bitna to raise her hands above her head (as punishment) but Bitna doesn't do it. JN asks, "Who does she take after? SH: "Her mother." SH tells JN to just go and study. He says, "We'll be more productive." He tells Bitna (in a joking way), "Let's kick her out and have fun." Meanwhile downstairs, Nara and JM hear all the commotion coming from upstairs. Nara tells JM,"She's always spanking her. She shouldn't be so mean." JM tells her not to say anything. Nara: " I wonder if she is her real mother. Sometimes she is so scary." Nara shudders. JM says that its almost mother's birthday. Asks if she heard anything. Nara says that she hasn't but they probably will call soon.
JN comes down the stairs. Nara asks why she was scolding Bitna. JN says that Bitna was giving SH a hard time, wants him to carry her the whole time, etc. JN says that she has to prepare for tomorrow's lecture and that she will go to the kitchen to study. Sits in dining area. JN looks at her papers and starts to study. Later, she goes back to the room and finds SH and Bitna sleeping in bed. She sits on the bed next to SH and looks at them. She recalls several things--piggybacking sH when he was drunk, biting SH when the had a disagreement, playing fireworks at the river with sH, the night at the hotel when SG asked her not to leave and kissed her, the time at the beach when they ran away, his confronting his mother at the hospital when Nara tried to get her to have an abortion, when SH put the ring on her finger when they pledged themselves to each other, when SH was being rushed to the hospital, SH bowing to JO at the wedding. These memories bring tears to her eyes and she lovingly touches SH's hair and Bitna's face.

Scene 9 - JD's family are gathered in grandma's room. They ask her what she would like to do on her birthday. DJ asks her if she wants to go on a trip and suggests that the whole family go on a trip. Grandma says that she only knows how to spend money. Grandma says that they just should all have dinner together. MS asks for HI's opinion and HI says that she has been thinking about this and she thinks that they should have an exhibition and exhibit all the things grandma made so they can see how she lived to this day. Grandma says that she only made things to get by and that it would be embarassing. HI says grandma made a lot of things for all her children. KW suggests that they have a family exhibition showing things that family has made. They call Nara.

Scene 10 - Nara cuts the phone and tells JM that they are planning a family exhibition and they want something from everyone. JM says he is going to subnit a photo. Nara says that she doesn't have anything to submit. JM tells her that she should dsiplay the paper dolls she made. Nara brightens up and says, "Should I?"

Scene 11 - YJ tells BD that KW's family is having a family exhibition and want them to participate. She tells him that she and Nara are going to exhibit the paper dolls they made. She tells him to exhibit his account book where he keeps track of their spending. BD says that he will exhibit his calligraphy. He asks what HI is submitting, YJ says she was always good at painting...BD asks if they should ask OD to participate. YJ reminds him that JM will be there. He says he forgot about that.

Scene 12 - BD comes out of the room and OD and YG are waiting. They ask why he wanted to see them. He tells them to sit down and hands them a bank book. BD says that he saved the living expenses they paid while they lived with him. They look at the amount in the bank book and are surprised. BD tells them that with that money, they should be able to find a small place. He tells them to start looking for a place tomorrow. He also tells them that the interest is from YJ. OD and YG thank him saying that it is so much money. BD tells them that he won't forgive another mistake. They assure him that they will live a diligent life.

Scene 13 - SH and KW playing basketball, talking about who has more basketball skills, etc. SH tells KW that he is good now and asks what his secret is. KW says he always thinks, "How high can I be?". He says if he keeos thinking like that, height isn't everything. He challenges SH to another game.

Scene 14 - MS and JO are in the kitchen cooking talking about the exhibition. MS says that she is just going to make kim chee and rice cakes. JO says that its a good idea and she will make rolls and dumplings. JO says, "Cooking is an art too." MS tells JO that she looks brighter these days. Asks, "Are things going well with Mr. Han? You should marry him." JO says that she is thinking about it."

Scene 15 - Grandma is looking at her spoon holder and says (as if talking her her deceased husband) says, "You upset me so much when you were alive. But you left me with 3 treasures. They are going to have a birthday party for me tomorrow. I was never famous for anything or rich but I don't envy anyone. It's all because of you. Thank you."

Scene 16 - Exhibition Hall, there is a banner that says, "Suh Malja's Exhibition". There are all kinds of things displayed--blanket, shoes bags, pillows, jewelry, art work. SH brings juice to MS. Looking at the jewelry he asks if DJ made it. In another area, there is a sign next to a calligraphy saying that it was done by in-law, Lee BD. Someone asks "What does it mean?" (Calligraphy). It reads: Be virtueous and look at the large world." Bitna is carried by Nara, looking at the dolls. There is a pencil sketch of grandma by SH. YJ tells grandma that she sews so well. Grandma tells her that the doll she made is nice. YJ is flattered and says, "Do you mean that? I'm so happy." Grandma notices that a reporter is there with a camera man. She asks, "What is that?" Reporter tells grandma that this is a unique family exhibition. She says, "Let's meet Suh Malja. Grandma shys away saying that she is not good at talking but family encourages her. Reporter asks if she made all these things. Grandma says that she did and that she raised her children by sewing. Reporter asks how it feels to look at all the things she made. Grandma says, "When I look at the spoon holder, it makes me remember my younger days. I lived a bizarre life. Everyone in my family is peculiar and bizarre. My youngest grandson even got married in a bizarre way. Even my great-granddaughter is bizarre." Reporter: "Why do you think the family can be so happy?" Grandma: "There is one person who is peculiar because she is not bizarre at all. I am grateful to her. I am not just saying this." Reporter: "Who is this person?" Grandma: "She got married to a poor family and gave all the best things to everyone else. My oldest daughter-in-law." Family pushes MS forward. Reporter: "Is there a secret why your mother-in-law is so grateful?" MS: "I am not sure. I just lived like everyone else. Everyone teary. JM says that they should take a photo on a beautiful day like this. They all gather for photo. Suddenly grandma notices Bitna wandering around in front of them and asks, "Whose piece is that?" SH seeing Bitna says, "It's mine." JN: "Who does she take after?" Grandma: "listen to her. She's saying her masterpiece is faulty." SH picks Bitna up and goes to where photi is being taken. They take the family photo...everyone smiling. Grandma is overcome with happiness and gets teary. THE END!

I enjoyed this drama. I am glad that all the loose ends were tied. JN and SH are happy with a cute daughter, KW is successful and HI and JD, DJ are working for him, DJ saved enough for her dream trip, things are going well for JO and the mysterious Mr. Han, MS gets the acknowledgement she deserved from grandma, OD and YG are on their way to getting their own place, JM and Nara are back together and seem to be happy, Nara made a miraculous turn around and is so nice to JN and everyone (almost too hard to believe because change was so sudden) and grandma feels that she has a blessed life. Like others have mentioned, it would have been nice if HI had a baby or at least was pregnant.
