Thanks for finding that thread, MaileGirl, but it sounds as if it might be a different show with the same name. I really didn't recognize the characters or story.
The current show on KBFD seems to be about two brothers, nice sister, mean mother and their ill father who who are having their home and business foreclosed on by nasty moneylender.....unhappy girl with alcoholic father....assorted village characters....lots and lots of misery and unhappiness. Cool

Love and Ambition the one now is a re-make of an older drama; that's what I read somewhere. I figured the story would be the same.

I haven't found anything on the new version; but re-makes are normally going to end the same way. I think. I don't watch this one anyway. Laughing

Mailegirl, Thank you for the welcome. I am enjoing the KBFD 32 Forum. I started watching the K dramas since 2004 when "All In" was showing on Sundays. Both my husband and I really enjoyed that series. To this day, it is still my favorite. I have seen it about 5 times. Lee Byung-hun is one of my favorite actors. The historical drama I enjoyed most was "The Immortal Lee Soon Shin." I anxiously waited for Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to come around.

In my life I had never enjoyed soap operas but I don't know what it is about the K dramas that make me addicted to them. When my friends come over I have to excuse myself to watch the movies. That is how bad I am. I have finally subscribed to the Oceanic digital so I can record the episodes I need. However, it can record only 50 hours. It will become a problem when I travel if the taping becomes full.

Right now I am enjoying Love and Ambition.

I am totally confused with this discussion of Love and Ambition. I suspect you're all talking about the original version that the present drama is based on? Everybody is so miserable and angry. Oldest Brother is finally detaching himself from his former actress wife and wants custody of their son. 2nd Brother agrees to let unhappy daughter go live with Oldest Brother so she can breathe and find herself. She's worried about her mom who married an abusive brute. Youngest Sister finds out that her psychiatrist husband who is a devoted father to their 2 children was seeing his old flame, the same actress who was married to his Older Brother. Older Brother introduces a girl who brings him hope of living a normal life. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

How many more episodes before we are all put out of our misery? They keep introducing new people. I thought this was going to end at 50 or 60 and we are now on 66. Looks like this will go until 75. Somewhere Tae-soo's business will crash because things have been going so well for him financially.

As far as I know, the current story line matches what you described Naominsu, so it must be the same story.

On another note, I wonder if anyone knows what happens to the actress at the end of the story? Does she ever remarry? Her life has not been a happy one so far. I do feel sorry for her in a way. I guess she personifies the inner struggles that people go through because of their past history, their personalities, their values, their human imperfections...making happiness that they crave, so painfully elusive. It also shows how hard it is sometimes for people to fully forgive...the ex husband showed how hurt he was by her betrayal even after so many years. This movie is almost a study of character flaws and weaknesses, and how they make people so repeatedly inflexible even to their own demise.

Aloha...according to a d-addicts wiki, there are 80 episodes so we can still get our weekly dose of misery. Though I think life has been looking up a bit lately.
I do like this kind of drama where the characters develop, although I agree that some of these seem cast in concrete and don't seem to have learned much of anything through all the trials theyve experienced. Especially Mija....
