This is the MBC drama that will replace Fashion 70s. First episode to be aired on 10/17. It is still showing in Korea.
Cast:

Kim Joon Woo (31) - Actor Kim Suk Hoon (Ode to the Han River)
Jung Ah Mi (29) - Actress Song Sun Mi (Letters to the Parents)
Choi Do Kyung (28 ) - Actor Kwon Oh Joon (Match Made In Heaven)
Outline:
This is a drama about unmarried people and how their expectations change when looking for someone to date and when looking for someone to get married to.
(Disclaimer: I obtained this from the official website, but the plot may change as the story continues to unfold in Korea.)

After watching the first 2 eps., this is looking like a cute one just to enjoy for entertainment. |

This drama is also showing in California. I can't make up my mind about this yet. Not sure this oddly assorted group is all that attractive. I do like the gal who was Ahri in Letters to Parents. she is a good actress. The guy from Han River looks more lively and certainly more attractive here. He does not match too well with Han Ji Hye in my opinion. She has grown past her cute stage. Now she has to act and she is not there yet. The second actor is new to me ....and, sorry.. but I don't care for him.
I think I have been able to watch several very fine dramas and films lately and therefore anything on a lesser scale is at a disadvantage.

I thought this was a cute drama. Nice to have a change of pace after watching Fashion 70s, Rebirth and Lawyers which are all heavier dramas.
I agree with Peggy that Han Ji Hye has to learn how to act. I thought I was the only one to think she was not there yet.
I saw Song Sun Mi in another drama which I believe may be a weekend drama on my trip to Asia recently. I think the drama was called War of the Roses or something... can't remember. It starred Choi Soo Jong, Choi Jin Shil and Ryu Jin (Summer Scent). That was the first time I saw Song Sun Mi (before Letters to the Parents was aired -- I don't really watch Letters to The Parents as I have decided to watch some other types of programs beside K dramas). She might be a new actress. In War of the Roses, she was married to Ryu Jin. Seemed like an interesting drama.
I think Song Sun Mi is okay. I haven't decided if I like or sympathize with her character more or with Young Ji more.
My prediction is Ah Mi is going to lay eyes on Jung Woo later but he seems to like Young Ji more as she is different from other rich girls he has met. |

Well she has already sort of met him during the marathon and afterwards when she loaned him money. She wasn't impressed or interested. I think they are a better match just based on economics, education, and position in life. But the fact that she is the daughter of a mistress would not sit well with JW's family no matter how successful she may be. That's a shame--why should she be penalized for her mother's situation?
I don't envision YJ as the girl for JW either, but it's too early to tell. |

'Wars of the roses' has just begun here in Cal. I can't watch it yet because I am finishing the final episode of "Breaking Up..." I don't know the little actress who is playing the lead altho her face seems familiar. I do hope she will end up with her boss. He is a charmer. His features are not splendid but they are saved by his eyes. They are so soulful.. like a King Charles spaniel puppydog. He is a successful singer as well as actor. Was in 'Pearl Necklace'..What a depressing drama that was.
One of the lead actresses in Wars of the roses was the lead with Ahn Jae Wook in his famous 'Star in my Heart'. that was about ten years ago I think. she was married to his friend,a baseball player. Now divorced after a very violent and unpleasant parting of the ways. she brought her two children to California I think for some time. She has lost her radiance by what I saw in the beginning of this drama. However she seems to be playing a housewife with little charm so maybe that is the look of the character.

That actress is Choi Jin Shil who was indeed the lead with Ahn Jae Wook in "Star in my Heart" (or Wish Upon A Star as some of us remember it here in HI). That was a looooong time ago. I believe that drama was made in 1997 and was one of my favorite dramas for a long time.
The last time I read any article on Choi, it said she was trying to save her marriage to her baseball player husband and I even read that she had a second child in order to salvage her marriage. I guess she ended up giving up. Poor woman. Do you know why they divorced? Actually, I thought she looked about the same in War of the Roses as she did in Since We Met -- she didn't seem to have aged. War of the Roses was made in 2004... maybe she hasn't gotten a divorce at the time yet? Do you know if she is still in CA and did she go to CA because she has friends or family there, or she went there to take a break? |

| I'm really liking this drama so far. Like Meat Jun said, it's nice to have a lighter and more comedic drama. |

Meat Jun,
re Choi and divorce. All I remember is what I saw on some of the Korean TV news shows. I think the husband was the original one to step out of line. There were arguments and fights. then she did have the second child but nothing improved. There were graphic pictures of Choi and her brother after they were beaten up and her house trashed by the husband. Very messy situation. she then went the divorce route and came to US to provide a calmer place for the children. I do not know if she returned to Korea to live or just to work. It has all been on TV and written about in the Korean press and this must have been late 2004..I think.

I think this drama is quite funny.
I want Youngjee to end up with Jung Woo, and Ah Mi with Do Kyung. There is just no "chemistry" between Jung Woo and Ah Mi in the drama. He doesn't seem too interested in her except for her background (educated, rich and has a good job). She is the same way. She wants to marry him so she can look good in front of others.
The actor who plays Do Kyung (Kwon Oh Joon) may not be good looking but he is a good actor and is pretty funny. I like his facial expressions. |

Gosh, he is funny but his character is so "oogie" and so pathetically phoney--he wants to be AM's Cinderella. I don't mind Cinderella themes, but this guy is so blatant and deliberate.
BTW, I really liked his character in Damo.

I got that feeling from the first eps. that JW & AM are not meant to be. After the marathon when he wanted her number so he could return the money he borrowed, she said that was just a way to pick her up, he told her she wasn't his type. It looked like neither of them were attracted to the other. But it seems that as AM continues to discover how much she and JW have in common, she is liking him a lot and the "status" for her is "gravy". And now JW's parents really like AM, but I think that will change when they find out she's the daughter of a mistress. They want a "sterling" DIL: no scandals, notable achiever, wealthy, attractive, blue-blood lineage, etc., etc., etc.
I don't consider JW a great "prize". And I think the "cuteness" that he is infatuated with in YJ would not stand the test of time. But for the duration of this drama, it's cute to watch how it'll unfold. |

After watching last night's episode, I am feeling that YJ should not be so cozy with AM. It is very uncomfortable to watch how YJ is tormented by her feelings for JW knowing that AM really likes him, too. She readily accepts the gift of books, the cell phone, pampering at the Spa, etc. from AM while feeling a bit of a betrayer to their friendship because she cannot help liking JW. She should level with AM and tell her how much she likes JW, too. And she should let AM know that she wants to continue to see him without feeling bad towards her--and let the chips fall where they may.
JW is a problem too because he hasn't made it clear who he would rather be with. He needs to tell AM of his feelings for YJ, and tell his parents that AM is not the one for him as he has feelings for someone else--and deal with the consequences.
AM is a sweet and generous person and is sorely wanting to be part of an accepting family to fill the void from her own strained family history. I think AM doesn't see YJ as her competition because there's a chasm in their dispositions; i.e., wealth, education, achievements, and professional status, and JW's family likes her. |

I agree with you that Ahmi is a nice and generous person. But I don't think she should marry JW so she could be part of an accepting family. So is she marrying JW or his family? I don't think that is sincere. She might as well marry YJ's brother because AM also seems to like Young-ji's fun and accepting family. To me, what she is thinking of doing is no different from a woman (like Hae-joo in Lovers In Prague) who wants to marry into a rich and powerful family because her family is poor even though she doesn't love or care too much about the guy. AM wants JW so she can look good in front of her step-sisters.
Ah-mi said she was trying to learn to love JW. But I don't think she really cares about him. When he was sick, she didn't seem to care and was in fact, out having a wonderful time with Young-ji.
I like Young-ji because even though she is poor, she never lets that get her down. She always keeps her chin up and works hard to achieve her goals.
The more I watch this drama, the more I feel that JW isn't just attracted to YJ's "cuteness". He could have been attracted to AM's charm and other good qualities. But he still continues to like YJ even after finding out the truth about her real job, her family, etc. I feel that is sincere love. I do agree with you JW is the problem. He needs to clarify his true feelings with AM and tells his family the truth. |

Yes, this could be one of her ambitions. But perhaps more than looking good in front of her step family, is the idea of self-acceptance. Maybe in her mind, her self-worth will be enhanced by a "good match". |
